31/5/2024: Hi everyone!! To compensate my absence from RU-vid for 3 months, I decided to make a quick sound test of the latest configuration of this keyboard as it will be featured in an upcoming review. Thank for your overwhelming support and enjoy the new sound test! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NE-DXcGL-NQ.html
REVIEW VID OF THE CERAKEYS KEYCAPS IS OUT NOW! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3dYUEkaW3OM.htmlsi=Fhx1uZSBW2wSsH3s To compensate for being gone from RU-vid for so long, heres a snippet of the next review's sound test. (hint: it's the first sound test that goes in comparison with another) Since this was a quick upload, the sound test specs isn't fully listed but they are the same config as the one showcased in the previous build video. Plus there's a rendering issue which overlaps with the specs, causing the name 'GMK 8008/First Love R-Shift' to not properly render with the video itself. (in a nutshell I screwed up with the colour grading that I didn't notice it was affecting the text)
I took the only the top piece of foam out of the key board, now it sounds like the key board is even noisier, but not as thocky. I have the mint switches. Should I get the raspberry switches to make it sound more creamy?
I heard tape modding with the battery plugged in is dangerous. Is that true and why is that? I want to make mine sound a little deeper but I'm a little afraid of possibly damaging my keyboard with the tape mod.
Depending on what tape you use, they can be flammable and cause a potential fire. However, sparks/shorts can only ignite them and the chances of it is low so it's alright for you to tape mod your keyboard. Just be careful not to damage the lithium battery as it can burst into flames if damaged severely (ex: punctured by a sharp material) As long as you apply the tape mod without anything that could potential damage the battery should be completely safe.
I have both the "Ajazz AK820 pro with Gift switch", and the "Keychron k8 pro with Gateron Browns" which is double the price of the Ajazz, and for me Ajazz is the better option because of the more creamier & refined sound. Keychron's keycaps are more well-finished, however the typing experience in Ajazz is better.
i will save all of my money to get this and mod it im planning on getting these same switches and black or white japanese keycaps thanks for this video
It is sounding soooo nice when modded! I just received mine and already quite like the stock sound although the spacebar stabs are not sounding great, will try your mods :)
So my feedback on this: the tape/tempest mod (3 layers) definitely brought some improvements to the sound of the keyboard. It makes it deeper and thockier. As for the plumbers mod it made the stabs perfect in feeling and sound. Just don't over-do it, a maximum of 2 wraps around the stab stems is enough, more than that is too much and will make it mushy. Overall this keyboard now sounds like a 200$+ one and I'm super happy with it!
More details about the overall aesthetic will be coming soon! The review is in the works so once its out you'll get a better view of the gem80. In the meantime you could take a look at some pics of it i posted in the community tab & insta
Okay this is absolutely insane, been in this hobby for years now and left it for a while because everything at the high end got kinda repeated at one point but damn dude look what a turn the budget keyboard market has taken. Back in the day it was hard to get a budget keyboard for around $100 now we got full alu keebs at that range. Absolutely insane, i love how things are going now
Hi all, as some of you may noticed. I have made another sound test of the UCAL K673 Pro keyboard in a higher definition as the sound test showcased here was rendered poorly which introduced static blur. The sound test can be found on Redragon's Official RU-vid channel which you can find here! @redragonkeyboard ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3Owr_vVhv2g.htmlsi=bg1JL0erMxVodfk7
