The show about cars and the people who drive them!
Airing nationally in Canada across the TSN network, Motoring TV was first launched in 1987 and has been on the air ever since, making it TSN's longest-running program.
In addition to testing the latest vehicles each week with well-known journalist and gear head Graeme Fletcher, our resident mechanic, Bill Gardiner, offers tips for the driveway do-it-yourselfer, while Canada’s foremost automotive journalist, Jim Kenzie, unabashedly provides his opinions each week, which are often provocative and uncensored.
Add in a cast that includes the face of Motoring TV, Brad Diamond, Two-Minute Test Drive host Russ Bond, and truck guru Howard Elmer, and Motoring TV is your top source for news and views on the automotive industry.

Thanks so much! Your video just saved me, and made me able to move my car from being stuck on a main road! Sending grateful thanks all the way from the 🇬🇧
I own a 2021 Chrysler Pacifica, which also has the start stop feature. I was indifferent about the feature until the secondary battery died after 2 years. Even though the battery was under warranty, I remember asking the tech assuming it wasn’t under warranty what would the cost of a replacement battery be? His answer around $280! Seems as though the auto industry is stepping over dollars to save pennies.
I grew up on Ford (Dad still has his manual 96 F250 and his contracting business exclusively uses F350 diesel), so I just bought a 1997 ford f150 4x4 lariat model, and came here to check out more. The one I bought is in immaculate condition, and I'm excited to see how well it serves me. It's good to see the comments about it!
Oh come on what a moron. Like if your engine gets a little dirty it's gonna instantly break. If that happens, your engine sucks to begin with. Just change your oil correctly, do a good job not a shit job, use good oil not shit oil, use a good oil filter not a shit filter, clean your valves and pistons with valve and piston cleaner, clean your throttle body with throttle body cleaner, take care of the damn engine and it will be fine. And wash your intake filter if it needs it. Sweet jesus, paper is just cheap and that's why the majority of consumers use them instead of more expensive filters that work better, filter just as good, and perform better too. People are so lazy, and blame things like air filters to excuse their laziness in taking care of their engine properly.
Only American car makers use the pushrod engines because they like cutting corners and costs while penalizing the reliability. The result is you get engines that have to be replaced at 50k miles.
I had two Vauxhall Insignias (1.9 CDti) with the feature. It also had a delete button. On both cars the stop start system stopped working at around 70,000 miles. I did not do a lot of city driving. I never bothered to get it fixed and the cars never failed an annual MOT inspection. I bought the second car when I retired from work, and the overall economy has hardly been affected, still recording better than 50 mpg overall, and 59 mpg on the motorway. The car has done over 140,000 miles.
So disheartening to see 2300 people this worked for and it didn't work for me. Same problem as everyone else, I backed into my driveway to unload some things from the bed of my dad's GMC Sierra, so the wheel was turned completely clockwise when I turned the key off. Locked solid. Will not budge. Neither he nor I even knew this truck had a lock 'feature' (that I wish it didn't have, I see NO reason for it.) This tip didn't work, nothing has. Have gone out and tried over and over periodically for hours in 105 degree heat. Nothing. Wondering if the fact that the truck is sitting at a slight downward slant might be making it worse.
