After listening to Underwood cover, I realized how great Linda was.

What a singer she was in her hey day. Tremendous voice. Still a beautiful lady.

Ronstadt is praised by so many of the old school singers in opera, musical theather, blues, soul, easy listening, jazz etc. BECAUSE of the range of her vocals. Her extent of scale delivery means she can go low or deep and can hit the highest on the scale. I saw her after Heart Like A Wheel. I also saw her in Pirates in Penzance. The difference was so incredible. Pirates demanded a person who could speak in the song's lyrics as conversation as well as sing hitting operatic notes. Linda's vocal abilities have always placed her in the top 10 of histories best female singers. Look it up!

Linda Ronstadt had a far richer voice than Carrie Underwood. What a treasure Linda is. We have her recordings thankfully to remember her sound.

Linda’s voice had power, and a certain nasal tone that made it unique from others. I think that is what gave her uniqueness in timbre.
