I would definitely be interested in seeing more Turbofiend footage if you share it, but I understand you only have so much time and ability to record so much at once.
We actually had a full rundown recorded for an old tournament with Dima and I both talking, but the audio was all messed up. She is less robot obsessed than I am, so she uses her time elsewhere lol I will, at the very least, upload the footage from the tournament we just did this past weekend

This is the first NHRL video I've seen, so I don't know anything about it really. I'm just wondering about the little companion robots, like the little one with Mako and Send It. What exactly is the deal with that? Are they considered part of the same robot, and just added weight for weight concerns? Is there a limit to how many separate robots you can have? Very interesting video. I've only seen the first 15 minutes though so maybe you talk about it later...
It's a bit of a mess. The NHRL ruleset (and some other tournaments) give you a weight bonus if you field a multi-bot. For example, your entry could weigh a total of 4 lbs if you had two robots fighting together in the 3lb division. Most tournaments require those robots to be nearly the same weight - IE: two 2lb robots fighting together. NHRL does not. For example, someone could fight with a 3.5 lb robot and a .5 lb robot together. I stay with a 3lb robot with a 1lb mini-bot that can help in favorable matchups, so I can continue to run Mako at tournaments without the unique rules. It's weird and complicated lol NHRL is hopefully changing this for next season -- the builders do not generally like it

Like it's more exciting having more robots in the ring, but also it seems like based on the rules, there's no reason not to take advantage of the rule and always have a little partner. I imagine it's great if you have a younger sibling so they can control a bot too, lol. But I guess from a "competitive meta" standpoint, it's a little weird...
@@deanyockey5939 in theory, you can lose a judges decision if the minibots gets thrashed But the positives of running one almost always outweigh the negatives It is definitely fun - and being a minibot driver got my sister into the sport But it can make for slower fights, more money spent, a higher barrier to being competitive, etc. The growing sentiment is that builders want it to go away.
The feet on Shea’s featherweight cookie (shell spinner) has cat brushes that only allow for movement in one direction. She uses an imbalanced weapon to vibrate forward. The video should be on NHRL’s channel, “why I build robots without wheels” or something like that.

Is there a reason you aren't thinking about 95A? I've been working on a torque reaction walker that used 95A and it seems like it will be rigid enough. (the electronics were being problematic at the first event it went to so we only had it walking for maybe 30 second but it seemed like it would work once we got things tuned)

you could add some bristles to the bottom of the bot to add nice forward movement. maybe some wire brush or some toothbrushes. it would become a steerable bristle drive
You're right I tried quickly experimenting with some 3d printed bristles a few days before the tournament. But no matter what, it still wanted to go backwards
Ugh, it sucks to hear about the usual internet assholes leaving asshole comments about Kezia on youtube. Nhrl has always communicated inclusivity, so luckily i know they wont stand for that, and thanks for speaking about it.
Mako really had a great run this time, especially considering it’s only losses were to top tier bots that hard counter it. I really think Mako has the potential to qualify in the future. Definitely the best Saw bot Beetle in the sport.

No shade on the builder of Droopy/Loopy, but the fights with it are kinda boring to watch. They're playing a strong meta, they build very well, and they somehow drive the bot excellently-it's a winning strat, but not all that fun from this side of the screen.
Congrats on the win! That was such a clean match. What every sawbot driver dreams of haha. Did you get a look at the damage on 'Send It'? It looked like you went all the way through to the baseplate.
Yeah. They showed me the bot and gave me half of their top plate, ehich was indeed cut all the way in half I'll post the other pics I have of the damage when I make the full tournament video. Very cool guys. Very cool bot. I'm sure they'll be back for revenge soon
They absolutely tore through our robot. It was absolute carnage once we opened the thing up. They had cut all the way into the bottom plate, split the top plate in half, chopped our battery... it was SICK!!!
I still can’t believe TurboFIEND managed to defeat Synthesis in such a dominant fight. This was probability the biggest upset of the tournament in my opinion.

I like how a hammersaw is a vertical spinner when at the back. More practice with the 'wrong' way around and you have 2 different weapon styles. Did you think about having also fork mounts at the back?
That's an interesting idea about the reverse forks, but the saw weapon is very vulnerable to attacks, or even just getting wrecked by taking force in the wrong direction, so I usually try to keep it out of danger until it's time to attack Maybe for a future hammer-saw with a wider / more durable weapon, but that would be more of a smasher and less of a cutter.
