arts crafts hobbies from photography, welding, machine shop, building projects, showing and teaching basic tractor usage skills. I hope to help speed up the learning curve for tractor owners across the world. peace love and respect Dave in Virginia U.S.A
Extremely helpful. Excellent explanations followed by demonstration. You take the right amount of time to explain things and with perfect detail (not too much or too little). Really good!!!
Dave, good video. I have a Kubota L35 that I use for grading only. The best skill I have learned is back blading. I found is the easiest way to fill low spots. It is difficult to learn at first but when you do it is amazing. You are a good teacher.
Best real-world Q/H video! You solved the top link problems quite nicely. Any reason I couldn't weld a filler in the bottom hooks (like you did to the top hook) to avoid the use of bushings? Seems wasteful to have to go out and buy a set of bushings for every implement. Older guy here too, and I'm so done with jockeying implements around to get them to line up with the 3Pt hitch holes. Thanks & God bless.
I was going to do this to my Kioti CK2610 this weekend till I saw my (RED) bank statement. I will try in the next couple of weeks as I need the extra weight when working on a small pond build.
I love how easy you make it to understand. This video confirmed my understanding of the ins and outs of a hydraulic system without any doubts. It's great that you didn't complicate things by bringing the spool valves into the lesson, yet touched on it perfectly.
My Branson top link is like a visit to the gym..........manual! Bummer!!!!! BUT darn informative video. I bought the tractor 2 years ago and my driveway looks worst because I don't know diddly about my scraper. This video sure as honey in the pot helps!!!
Dave, I used water hose parts (2 way splitter, barbed fittings, etc) and it worked well, BUT I thought I could get away without the gauge! Boy was I wrong. BOTH my tires came off the bead WITH RV ANTIFREEZE LEAKING OUT. Dude, that was stressful! I thought I was going to lose a bunch on the ground! I put a ratchet strap on quickly, and aired it up, got it back on by some miracle, and was able to finish without much loss. BUT the gauge would have helped me keep an eye on the pressure, and keep SOME pressure in the tire, like 5 psi or so, and that would have helped keep the tire on the rim. Funny, when I did let all the air out initially, and it stayed on the rim, but once I started filling it with fluid and it got some weight in it, the tire then sagged and popped off the rim. I think if I had kept *some* pressure in it, like 5psi or so MINIMUM, then, it might have stayed on. Shoulda listened the first time to my buddy Dave 🙂
for sure my son " who is a certified kubota tech" has had tires come off the bead and half off the rim. lost all the fluid! i learned from his mistake. the device they use dont have a gauge so once the tire pressure was down below 5psi bam! off the rim it came. 5psi would likely be good most likely. I tried to keep mine up as high as I could to insure my bead stayed intact. its a learning curve for sure. glad you were fast with the rachet strap! lol
@@daveknowshow On my lift I have P1 to the black. T8 goes to red wire on the reverse switch. T2&T4 to the orange wire. T5 to the white wire neutral. Motor only goes in one direction.? The on/off switch on the motor was deleted which is P1& P2.
I am a displaced Yankee out of New Jersey that ended up in Kentucky for reasons I won’t go into. Eventually developed an interest in guns, land, and now have a tractor and skid steer. Your videos are informational, inspirational, and have restored my hope in the American spirit.😃
I'm currently doing this mod to my old JD 513 Bush Hog to make it fit a HF quick hitch. (got the aftermarket hook) I've got the lower pivot bushings in they work perfect. The upper parts are very similar to the one in this video. Would you still do the upper conversion this way, which makes it work like a modern bush hog pivot, or would you just put chains on it and call it a day? I won't know how well the pivot works until I'm completely done so just thinking about plan B just in case the pivot doesn't work out.
Chains are ok but cause a floppy issue that making hooking up a challenge at times. It’s doable but not perfect. My finish mower mod has chains you can look at that video here on my channel. Thanks for the comment!
Yes thanks. Still tinkering with it work has kept me from diving back in. It did finally occur to me yesterday how that system worked to keep the back pivot portion "up" and the front one to hook to "down." Pretty genius. It should all work perfect if I just weld a stop piece on the back pivot so it can't roll all the way down under the other one and get stuck. Then it should be pretty much exactly like a modern one. Really, thanks for this ancient video. No one other than you has ever actually shown a way to convert it properly.
Great video Dave. Flow rate of the hydraulic pump is one of the things people don't seem to fully understand. I see so many people post about sloppy/loose hydraulic cylinders. Most of them don't admit that they were working the hydraulics at low RPM leading up to the issue or that they typically operate hydraulics at low RPM. They also forget that some of their hydraulic flow is sucked up by the power steering. What ends up happening is they get air in their hydraulic lines and need to crack a fitting or two to purge it quickly rather than running high RPM for a long period to let the hydraulic system self purge.
Exactly how I feel. I played tonight in a local tournament did ok finished in the top 5. Should have done better missed a few key shots. Got a couple bad rolls.
Very good listen Dave😉👍 enjoyed it, and like mentioned earlier if you can get close on the date the paper was put out you may be able to get copies from a library👍🙏
Dave, I've watched most of your videos, i can honestly say i enjoyed this one the most. I would like to see more like it. I was an old pool shooter myself, so i can relate, or maybe just reminiscing about old times. Looking forward to the next one, thanks for sharing.
Stop by your public library and ask the librarian if they have the newspaper either in scanned files or microfiche. It may cost a couple of bucks to get copies. I’ve done it successfully a few times.
And Now The Rest of the Story. Dave so good to see and hear from you. I've been busy building andd working on my new metal building. I'll eventually get a video out but no big thrill video. I've been getting things done on the land. It's been super hot lately and we need some rain. Hope you're doing okay. Take it easy my brother. Don 👍🏽🤠 05/27/24
sounds like someone is missing their younger self. lol. i know, because im doing the same thing. i miss the days when i worked on the carnival. the women use to throw their pannies at me. now that im old. they throw turds at me. lmao.
Ive drug box blades around quite abit, but after watching this video, and leveling out my box, I feel like Im WAY more effective and efficient. Thanks Dave!!
No one sells gravel in 5 gal buckets. This test would be lot better if you made a yard box and see how many loader bucket it takes to fill box, level vs rounded, thats what I want to know.......
can you remove just the front drive shaft connection to get the oil pan off? or do you need to remove the rear part of the drive shaft and casing first? before the front?
