My interests are Tech, Homebrew and Fixing stuff !!
Homebrew - If you are interested in homebrew and craft beer brewing this is a channel about my experiences as a novice then moving on to All Grain.
Tech - Also like tech so have uploaded a few reviews on various itesm. Have got into drones, currently own 4, Phantom 4, Syma X8HG, Dromida Vista FPV and a Potensic F183.
Fixes - Have also uploaded a couple of "Fix-It" videos, these based on things around the house which need repair.
Exact same issue here currently. I don’t have the skills you so Joe. I’m not sure cheapest way to go about it. Jag dealership or a local garage do you think. Had the issue for 6 weeks now. Cars been wide open.
Good video thanks. Just used it to do mine, wiper jets weren't working but could hear pump was working so took off that T piece and found that valve thingy had not really perished in mine but was curled up a little so I flipped it over and refitted and now my jets are working again 👍
I have a ground floor MegaFlo. Is it possible to perform the hot tap drain by running a pipe from a downstairs tap to a lower level? Is it better to install a drain-off tap somewhere adjacent to the Megaflo? Is the only solution to repeatedly call out an engineer (which I prefer not to for obvious reasons)? Or? Thanks if anyone can advise.
@@timcarpenter2441 hi, opening the hot water tap means the pressure behind the hot water is released. Down stairs is just what I do as it is the lowest tap, so drains pressured water from the tank and other hot taps in the house. To recharge I think you will be just fine using your sink hot tap. The only thing I can think is that as the blander expands it might have to work a little harder and might not fully recharge. But it should recharge the air gap.
@@timcarpenter2441 no issue with going too far, it balances with atmosphere, no more than that. To test if complete, I stick my finger over the tundish hole if it feels like it sucks when you release then leave it for another 10 to 20mins
Thieving gits! I have the same car, 2010 version and the wiring harness is a bit longer. I wasn't able to obtain a new one straight away so I removed the old one, repaired the frayed cable that I found then replaced it and the whole thing took me about 20 minutes. I'm not a mechanic. I'm also not convinced the mechanism wouldn't work, maybe the same thing, a frayed cable in the harness? That's what the issue was with mine. If you try to apply power to it, it would probably work. The actual mechanisms are pretty bulletproof. I would be claiming some money back, the consultancy fee is absurd too. Jaguar dealers have a bad reputation for this sort of thing and I often wonder how many car sales it cost the company.
No time in my life have I seen entire headlamp assemblies needing removal just for a bulb change. You sir, should have really asked around before embarking on this
I am unsure if some of you have tried this when you watch this but because we never use the boot keyhole, it sometimes sticks just at the point it releases the trunk. Your fingers might not have the strength so a pair of pliers to hold the key and turn it but if you feel you are putting too much pressure on the key then stop, I don't want you to break the key. The joy of the part that has gone is electrical so the key should work, its just the lock is seized a little and needs that extra tiny turn of the key.
How does charging work? How power is distributed between DC load and battery charging? For example if current is limited to 4A on buck converter and load consumes 3A. Will battery be charging at 1A or voltage drop will occur?
Thought about did not want to damage the car, gald I got it fixed and I hope this helps other diagnose this issue or change the wiring loom on a 10 year old plus car. The clue was it started to misbehave during closing and opening.
@@joewoodford9428 After buying a brand new Lock , I have been told that it was the TAILGATE BOOT LID ACTUATOR MOTOR at fault not the Lock...Jaguar will Not allow to return the Lock...
is this a 5 gallon batch? Curious why you don't have the grain in earlier - getting some of the 'step inversion' at lower temps (even though most grains now are fine with 1 hour at 150f (sorry, don't know the centigrade conversion). I also thought the brewzilla had a sparge arm (though one would need to add water as you did) - maybe I confused it with a circulation arm during the boil?
Mash in temp in DegC typically should be in the range of 66 to 68 to get a good conversion. steeping for 1hr 30 mins (90mins) is usual. Step mash can also yield different sugars and flavours. It is all personal choice in the end. Hitting the grain at these temps means you can get some consistency in the final ABV and flavours of the beer.
On the soft close mechanism, hidden behind a sponge like membrane inside a hole. Tear out the sponge and you will find a yellow torque receiver. Get a tool and turn it. The boot will open. Then the boot works fine, without the soft closing.... Thats a good thing. :)) So you definitely got ripped off on a few levels. Sorry man.
You then might need turn off the whole house supply. Usually the stop tape is under the main kitchen sink in a modern house. This should then shut off the cold feed completely to the house.
I have had the locking fault rectified, now after a few months the actual door handle doesn't open the door, seems like it's not pulling anything... Any suggestions?
unfortunately I don’t have the Freelander 2 anymore. My best guess would be the cable (which looks like a bicycle break cable) may have come off the lock mechanism or failed. Something like this www.lrparts.net/lr019819-internal-door-release-cable-for-freelander-2-from-inner-handle-to-latch-genuine-land-rover.html.
Great video mate, but just for anybody else who wants to try this it can be done easily with the headlights in situ. Drivers side being easiest. Get your fingers on the securing clamp and twist it, the unit is easy then to get out with plenty of length on the cable, change the clamp over and put the bulb unit back in place and twist shut. NS remove air box and intake parts, loosen air con pipe bolt to give a little wiggle room, also lower plastic clamp. Repeat the light removal as the other side, little tighter but easy enough. Changed oth xenons to LED in 40mins
I have 2012 XF 5L, no idea if before or after "Facelift". Is there any specific difference with the "Facelift" that would require removing bumper (as most references I can find insist you must do). Definitely prefer to try without removing headlamp. How difficult is removing air box and intake for passenger side?
my friend Eva, she had her Alternator / Battery both replaced then her key fob remote stopped working now the Jaguar XF refuses to open the Boot...we've tried everything before watching your vid...
I have a megaflo and when I turn a hot tap on then off again, I get a loud vibration and juddering, like water hammer, coming from the tank pipework (hot water outlet pipe on the tank). If I open a tap lower in the system the noise stops, almost like dissipating pressure. Do you think this expansion air gap is the cause of this trouble? If not, what do you think is causing it?
From what you saw, woukd replacing just the motor be a viable option? Same specs, but better quality. The idea of buying a whole cheap replacement vs just replacing the electric motors.
Yes you could do this, however it is the worm gear which might be a challenge to get off. One other method is to replace the carbon bushes and arms within the motor. They look like cheap hobby motors! Probably made in china though the whole unit is made in Germany. So much for German engineering as they have used very cheap parts. I guess the motor would have cost about €2 (at most).
Hello, I do not have any experience with TV repair, but my friend thge owner insists, he believes in me :-). It is always Samsung UE40C65410UP. Would you be so kind to put me on track with this problem? Where should I start checking first? what could that be? Is it dfixible? What are your thoughts? Here is the photo of the problem: drive.google.com/file/d/1e4keg4MtgY9_p-d6Dpp4dHHyM5o-1vup/view?usp=sharing
I'd say from the problem you have on the screen it the TCON board, this was what i found was an issue on my as mention about 2mins in to the video. I'd start with that first as you appear to have just half the screen working. I'm not a TV repairer just a good DIYer.
You do not need to remove the bumper in order to change the HID lightbulbs, I've just done mine, the front left one was a little bit tight, but it went fine.
Thankyou Joe, the information was gratefully received, so different to the previous years model. Spent over an hour at Halfords. They couldn't do it as it needed to touch the bumper, which they are not allowed to do.
Hi, can anyone help. Engineers installed the fibre cables in my street around 1-2 Years ago. 2 Days ago they said they are starting to build in my area but how long roughly would it take to go live?
I'm assuming your XF has rotating vents, if so there is a setting in the infotainment system to enable and disable the vents from opening and closing (aka setting them to a manual mode) have you checked this setting?
Your video is honestly no help. It's like f****** a child at a Doctor's office. Getting a thermometer put under their tongue be more detailed this fucking sucked
Thank for the video and have a look at your vlog. But could yoe, please, make the sound of the video some louder? My pc sound is on max but it is still barely intelligible.
Sorry about that, it was recorded some years ago and the iPhone or camera I was using did not have great mic. Newer videos are better. The Audio was boosted in the video editing s/w. Try listen on headphone (sorry not ideal !). Thanks for watching.
How did you get the middle seats out ? I saw the latches on the side bolsters . I cant gey the trunk open becaise the mechanical key is damaged as well.
Im trying tp remove my seats in my xf portfolio . My truck is not opening and the mechanical lock is damaged. Im trying to gain access to trunk from inside car . Is it possible to get the seat off from inside ? I have all the bolts removed bit the seats are latched at top . Any help would be great . I dony wanna break anything
Try looking at part 1 of the videos or the refitting as that should help show how the bolts and access worked. Sound like the same issue I had with the boot cable and then the lock failing. Good luck !
