Pivot to Peace was formed early 2020 to educate and mobilize public opinion about the benefits of a policy that facilitates cooperation and mutual respect between the United States and China. Pivot to Peace is a coalition of Americans and global citizens who are concerned about the future of relations between our country and China. We reject the escalation towards global conflict and instead urge peace and cooperation with China. We believe in the fair and open communication of information about China, its economic, social, and political affairs, free of the biases and distortions which dominate much of mainstream media in the United States. We believe that friendship and engagement between our countries is the better path towards that future.
Judge Tang defends the CCP government against Hong Kong protestors and their fight for democracy. She thinks democracy is bad for Hong Kong. Ironic, given that she is a judge who was elected and re-elected several times in California. She says that Hong Kong protestors are funded by a CIA agency. It truly astounds me that an ELECTED judge, someone who benefits from a democratic system of government, would defend an authoritarian state against young people who are merely standing up for their right to free expression. She supports CCP authoritarianism. Further, it astounds me that she does not believe in judicial freedom against the political class. Democratic governments do not sign extradition treaties with authoritarian states because dictatorships do not have independent judiciaries. If Hong Kong had extradition with China, China could have anybody arrested at sent to the CCP for interrogation. It's really amazing that an elected judge like Ms. Tang does not support independent judiciaries. And yet she worked in just such a judiciary for many years. Wow.

I asked a Chinese store owner here in the US if, from his perspective, the news stories about the Chinese government were true or if they were overblown. He said that the Chinese government is not really communist. He said North Korea is the only true communist government. He said China changed many years ago and is now the best of both worlds (communism and capitalism). I have known him many years, so I didn't want to be antagonistic. I didn't think to ask him why he lives here in the US if China is so great. ... Edit to add..By the way, this store is located near a US military installation. Does it mean anything? You should visit China then to compare and verify. I’ve been there several times since the early 2000 in more than 1 province. And yes, that Chinese American is correct.
