Great video! So cool you were able to run this portion as Father and Son. There is a great swimming hole just before it drops down to the Mokelumne river. Took the family up there after finding the spot. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DX9yIEJlXuI.htmlfeature=shared
More more more, I need more content!!! Great job man, I just bought a XR650L a couple months ago and am addicted to this type of content, binged watched your series like a top 10 Netflix suggestion! Really looking forward to your upcoming videos, nice job!
Instead of the OEMfilter use a Unifilter in combi with the rottweiler powerplate. I have the same set up. Oiled Unifilter (Aussi product) is the best for off road. Keeps the airbox skweeky clean.
I just bought a 1997 and it looked great at first glance but daaamm😖did I open a can of worms some things look like somebody legit did but man it needs a lot , I got 3 packages of parts a day showing up and the wife is threatening to go to the Jewelry store to even the score 😮
The best thing you had in the room to remove those stickers was sitting right on the floor…..WD-40 spray on a corner and let set a minute or two and once you get it started spray every inch or two as you peel the sticker away the let it soak and peel soak and peel a paint scraper comes in handy on dried vinyl stickers but usually not necessary after the sticker is gone just keep rubbing in WD with a rag until all the glue residue is gone Wd-40 will not harm any plastic surface or paint or skin
I used a propane torch to soften them, pulled them off and took lacquer thinner took the glue right off then rubbed mother’s metal polish on and used scotch brite and go with the brushed grain back and forth until it turned black then take a terry cloth towel and before the black dries rubbing back and forth with the grain to polish and then use a clean part of the towel to rub a shine on it you should be able to see the reflection of your fingers.
I’m going through my 1997 xr650l I just bought and it need’s the same exact parts, I currently don’t have a stand to put it on but have cried so much about it the wife said to get one 👍
@@Preacher402 nice. Yeah buddy got lucky, as he had a spare bike from a wreck(drunk driver nearly killed him) so he just swapped his out. But will for sure tell.him of this one. As the mapping mught help. As he has full exhaust done. So might help a little bit.
Okay, I had a little mishap with my chain, so I'm freshening things up. I'd heard about the counter sprocket issues due to narrow sprocket when I purchased the XRL new, so I bought a Fritzco from the start. However, when I removed the old chain I noticed quite a bit of free-play with this sprocket. So, doing a little research I came across your vid and decided to give the KKBike sprocket a go! Shipping: I'm a ways off the beaten path and I received the KKBike sprocket in four freaking days...wow! Can't get anything from the US in this little of time! Quality: On-target! Splines were nice and tight! Even had to tap the sprocket a bit with a rubber mallet. Absolutely no slack! I compared the alignment and slack with the factory, Fritzco, and PBR models. The KKBike sprocket was better in every aspect. Now, hoping it lasts!
Another great video. My cdi went out around 2000 miles on my 2012 XR 650l. I got some aftermarket replacement off eBay . No problems yet now at 7000 miles. but still carrying an extra one in case.
Im thinking about getting a 650L there is one near me a 94 w/ 13k miles pretty clean looking but has back fees and was never transferred to the new owner. 🤷🏼 I Dont want to have a dmv nightmare.
@@Preacher402 I’m new here but went to bed at around 4am til I finished the 94 zr650j project, men what a treasure, awesome content, personally I owned 6 xrl in my 50 years of life. Thanks 🙏🏻🔥🏆
@@bartoszch6552 I haven’t noticed any difference with the heat from the skid plate. But putting on the arrow midpipe made a huge difference with the heat!
Been enjoying the videos. On some of these jobs you say you’re going to do something and then the video cuts to you saying it’s all done. I think it’d be interesting to see the work being done, like the valves being adjusted. Keep up the good work.
@@kevintaylor6375 I’ll try and make some adjustments. To be honest, I don’t know what I’m doing with making videos or working on bikes and I get caught up in the task and forget to video 😆
Just one critique is that most of your video is you saying “I’m going to do this” and then cutting to after it’s already done. For example showing you pulling the chain off after removing the link is less helpful than showing you taking the link off. Same for the stripped screws. Same goes goes for most of the rest of your videos too, even though I’m still interested because I have a 93 I’m fixing up.
@@MichaelJohnson-uf3wu fair enough. I’m a one man production so a lot of stuff gets missed as I’m figuring things out. I’ll do my best to capture more of the actual processes. Thanks for the feedback
Great Video, Very Well Explained, Fits Amazing, but I'm sure you're not planning to run that old chain and rear sprocket with the KK. That would shorten the life of your new "Expensive" sprocket due to stretch and wear of the old set-up. Needless to say, down-shifting is hell on C/S sprockets and shaft splines and so are wheelies, unfortunately. I've got a plated '97 XR600R and replacement shafts are no longer available. This looks like the only answer for me. Fritzco makes a cheaper option, but it doesn't offer the same spline coverage as the KK. Great choice you made there. Thanks for posting this video - Happy Trails!
There's a little viewports that little hole in the middle of the slider once it reaches that point you have to replace it I mean it had a little bit of life left but you know it's better to change it anyways lol
I really like the way you tank graphics fit. Where did you get those. I really enjoy you journey with this bike and the way you put together your videos. Thank you. Life is good
