The Maryland APEX Accelerator (formerly PTAC) opened its doors in 2002 in an effort to assist the Defense Logistics Agency's (DLA) Procurement Technical Assistance Program in expanding the number of businesses capable of participating in government contracting. This APEX Accelerator is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the Department of Defense. We achieve this mission by:
- Providing businesses with an understanding of the requirements of government contracting and the market know-how they need to obtain and successfully perform federal, state, and local government contracts.
- Supporting government agencies in reaching and working with the suppliers they need.

Stopped at 11:13. Business plan is not all the way complete. It's half-way, but halfway is not a finished product honestly. Thank you. I'll be back to watch more later in the year.
wonderful presentation, just what I needed. How can I get the names of the companies providing the community additions? I am a supplier - reseller of commercially available products to DOD, will I be a level 1 or 2?
NRT DCAA compliant Project Accounting ERP on QuickBooks Pro platform or SAGE 100 platform has assisted small to middle government contractors through hundreds of audits without any negative incidents. Perhaps you could suggest our solutions as one of the most effective as well as lowest cost solutions. Thank you so much!
Hello, thank you so much for the information. I do have one question. I am a new logistics company Coalvatis LLC and I want to work as a procurement company for DLA. I recently read an FAR on a contract stating only companies (manufacturing) the goods required could apply. How do I break into the DLA/DOD world and not be a manufacturer when most manufacturers just modify some else's product? Thank you for your help, Eric C
Hi Eric, great question! Please sign up to become a PTAC client at our website so that we can assign a counselor to work with you on this topic. You can sign up here at no cost: www.mdptac.org/getting-started
I just signed up for a DIBBS account and have recently been verified and validated. My question is how do I obtain a contract with no prior contracts ( prior performance) being won? I was told by my PTAC officer to stay away from DIBBS but I see DIBBS as a great entry point for contracts below 500K
I’m with you! I worked in Aviation parts distribution for 9 years, but honestly you can be a distributor or a manufacturer. There’s more work in being a distributor because your essentially the middleman from the manufacturer to the DLA, but you’d be surprised there’s a lot of companies that want to do business with the DLA but don’t want to deal with the red tape. So you could generate income by receiving a small portion of this business transaction for your part. Now manufacturing a product, you can receive 100% of the cost of the contract, no matter the product. Just research an area you’d think you’d be able to fulfill for the DLA, and start small and grow your brand by fulfilling those contracts! Good luck!
@@Midknyte182 Thanks for your response. I am in the process of researching manufacturers that will allow me to be the distributor. Seems like the really big companies are the approved sources, so it doesn't seem like I could compete with them..... AND many of them to whom I've reached out are not will to quote or sell to me as a small business entrepreneur. At any rate, if you have any suggestions or guidance on types or specific manufactures I should contact please advise.
@@lisaj4441 I’m sorry to hear that! That’s super frustrating. I’m actually just starting off myself, but I’ve just worked with the DLA for years with an established aviation company that bid on contracts and that built a 20 year standing with the DLA and mostly dealt with with RFPs. As I get going on my own venture which led me to this video, I’ll be happy to share more information!
@@lisaj4441 I ran into that same issue, alot of the companies once they find out you are bidding with the government they will send you back a NO BID. I have now started to say that I I have customer, or a local customer. I no longer mention the government in any fashion.
