I just found out about this channel. Gotta say, I respect the amount of effort that goes into these videos and the idea behind it overall. Seeing someone cover Felix's comics rather than his cartoons is refreshing. Great work!
as far as I know, the Brazilian writer Monteiro Lobato. he appropriated the character in his famous and cultural series of books from the beginning of the 20th century "Sitio do Pica-Pau Amarelo" including an entire book dedicated to Felix called "O Gato Felix". If you want, you can add these books to your collection.
Bruh eu realmente gosto muito da sua série de livros edições e quadrinhos do gato Félix mano você é incrível e insano demais pra mim como um colecionador de quadrinhos eu sou muito fã e grato por você
For one second, I thought you were going to say collecting newspaper strips. I've been collecting Prince Valiant Sundays for over 40 years and have over 2200 of them. I also collect Zane Grey's King of the Royal Mounted (the first ever Sunday I have framed however of the back of one of them is a solitary Felix the Cat Sunday. One of these days I'll dig it out and see which date it is but the strips tend to be buried in boxes and I carefully handle them. I'm sticking with the USA Felix comics as my collection interests are too spread out to invest in the foreign markets, but I admire your tenacity.
Old newspaper prints are incredibly cool! The thing that scared me away from them was their size but also the sheer number that exist. I give you massive props for your collection! It sounds huge!
@@felixthecatcomiccollectorIt’s in pretty much in every cover / issue he did of Amazing Spider-Man / Spider-man. Often multiple times. He’s gone on the record to say if Felix is ever missing, he just forgot. (At one point he was doing 2 issues a month🤯) I’m pretty sure he stopped when he left Marvel and went indie.
@@wartscmort6199 He mostly just straight up hid Artwork of Felix. He added the clocks / merch more when he launched Spider-Man (leaving the Amazing Spider-Man title)
Coooooooolllllll.... Of the ones I have, I really enjoy the cover of #4 from 1927. However, I did just dig up some old Australian ones, that if I can ever get my hands on, will probably take the W for me
Yeah, most atomic age comics (50s to early 60s) that i own are usually in the golden age size. Although my experience is only with dell Disney's Comics.
Hi! Have you got any of the Felix little picture books by convey publications? Just seen one on eBay. They were published in the uk and featured reprints of the Messmer comics. Really enjoy your content! 👍
There were 6 published. Star bust Ancient times In the money Lost trick Solo fright The great inventor I believe there all named after comics included in the books. Hope this helps!
Inky and winky first appeared in 1926 and in their first appearance and “film flam films” there was actually 3 kittens. Soooo inky winky and dinky all exist in my opinion.
My books are mostly in boxes due to lack of bookcases so I just looked this up on Ebay. The Felix book I haven't seen in your videos that I have looked is easily available. Title is The Comic Adventures of Felix the Cat (red over and old-style drawing of Felix. Black and white strip reprints. Size is somewhat rectangle shaped so book shelfing it is somewhat a hassle. I wanted to make sure you knew about it but inside I'm thinking it's already on your to buy list.
Hey would you ever try to Collect those Felix the Cat Bootleg Games? There is 3 of them. (Felix the Cat 3 (NES), Felix VS. Jerry, Felix the Cat (Genesis) and also the Baby Felix games like Baby Felix Halloween for the Game Boy Color and Baby Felix Tennis for the Playstation?
This is as good a place as ever to put this. You collect a much wider range of non-comics material then me. I do have however two items one of which I was surprised you do not seem to have, and another discovered by way of a catalog. In 2001 Dark Horse Comics produced a series of cartoon figures in tin box with a resin painted statuette of Felix. Series #18 under their Classic Character Series from Yoe! Studios. I believe this must have for your collection. Comes with a pin and a small booklet of his history. Wish I could post a picture. I leave the statute in the tin on top of a bookcase. The other item is a Lunch Box with front and back old style black and white drawing probably from the newspaper and strip art along the borders. Dated 2002 Felix the Cat productions and from Dark Horse Comics as well. Happy hunting. Front of ox has Felix roller skating, the back walking down the road carrying his belongings in a bag over his shoulder hanging from a stick. There is one more reprint book I have not found listed in your collection and I need to dig mine up to see if it's on your to get list.
Those items sound very cool! Thanks for the share! My collection has certainly surpassed just comics, but I think I can say it's mostly paper-based products. Don't have a ton of interest in collecting figure or other memorabilia myself, but still always cool to see!
This is really good! My only complaint is the music. Can be too loud at times and a bit extreme with the metal that put me a bit out of it. Keep it up!
The link I sent you for the cover seems to have gone missing (You Tube Admin??). Anyway Amination magazine is still ongoing and they have their own web page. Look in archives , page 10--the cover is there.
Of you don't mind me asking, how old are you? I am 52 and this is common knowledge among anyone educated in the 70s. In junior high school did younkever talk about the Yellow Kid comic? Just curious...
This was something I remember learning about in 6th and 7th grade. This would have been in schools both in Florida and Virginia. We read the actual comics and discussed how it related to racism and sensationalized journalism and misinformation.
It amazes me that this is not taught In schools anymore. In what grade did you read Lord of the Flys, 1984 and Brave New World? Also Al'as, Babylon, color purple and the grapes of wrath? Sorry if I sound like an ass but these were required reading when I was in school.
@@felixthecatcomiccollector I enjoy helping otehr collectors. I meet people that like Felix but you're first person I know who really makes an effort at collecting the comics.
The issue is dated Oct/Nov 1994, Volume 8, #1, Huge headline Film Roman Steps out with Felix the cat. 84 pages after the cover. The table of content are of little help. Turning page by page I come across a Part 2 story about Bugs Bunny and Bob Clampett. On page 28 we finally find the Film Roman article titled The House that Garfield Built. (This is not good). Felix picture on page 29 upper right corner. As a Felix cover the magazines only value to me is the cover. Article ends on page 31. Bit of a letdown. I own two copies of Illustration magazines ONLY bcause one cover had The Shadow painting on it and the other a cover Zane Grey's King of the Royal Mounted.
@@felixthecatcomiccollector One small correction. I was wrong about the Table of Contents page. The Film Roman article page was on the left of the MAIN contents column along with similar notes to the rights side. The contents page was designed to pull the eye to the center of the page and I admit at the moment I was torn between finishing dinner while it was hot as getting my comment posted. To my mind keeping it ONLY for the cover.
I am a bare basic computer geek which I why I unable to post pictures even on Facebook. However, my daughter believes she can take a picture of the Animation issue and post it for me. Will give it a try after supper.
Totally understand! I've been lucky to find the issues I need for the collection! Very expensive. Same with New Funnies, which I have yet to complete, simply due to the prices when they pop up
One more comment. You had a short on Animation Magazine issue you own that covered the Felix the Cat issue. That series also did another Felix article V8, #1 and Felix gets the cover. Hope this helps. I would have put the message on the appropriate short but couldn't. Figured you might see this here.
Another appearance of Felix is in the 1978 black and white issue of Betty Boop Funnies magazine #1 (and only) from Hi-De-Ho Publications. I thought I posted it here but comment is gone so trying again. Pretty easy to find on Ebay like I did when the computer popped up with a reference to it.
Just recently discovered that one as well! It's on my list, but because it's so readily available online, I've been more focused on some other searches. I will certainly get a copy at some point
