This channel is a combination of many pursuits: droning, cycling, fishing, woodworking, electronics, etc. I hope you come along for the ride and enjoy the content. I hope to publish more in 2023 so stay tuned.
A valuable video in that it brilliantly demonstrates what the active tracking on this generation of UAVs is and (more importantly) isn't capable of. When it's working well it's downright miraculous, but alas the times it isn't make it something of a liability, and certainly not worth the risk of doing amongst any sort of traffic, even on really quiet roads. One possible exception to that might be if the UAV is kept high enough whilst tracking to not have to worry about roadside trees / cables / power lines / obstacles, and it can be a lot more successful up there. Still wouldn't do it above busy roads though - there's still too much that can go wrong too easily !
Thank you for this! And for anyone that might try this and be upset at first that the paint might look to light, keep in mind that acrylic paint will dry just a little bit darker, so give it time. You can always lift it up with Acetone if you don't like it, and try again.
Mario, What a fantastic video- stunning views, gorgeous scenery. Two questions: What were the white birds (if you can tell) flying below your drone; and, what is the effective range of your transmitter to keep good control of the drone?
The birds were likely seagulls. The range is maybe four miles but I have to keep it in Visual Line Of Sight. If for some reason I lose connection, it will return home on its own.
Mario, thank you for the excellent videography, editing and voice over. It seems as if the seating risers for the bandstand seemed to be slating towards the water and not the stage. Won’t people’s view be blocked.? The exact opposite of the architect’s purpose.
Beautiful videos. If I may make a request - can you consider removing your closed captions? Personally I find them distracting and with RU-vid we do have an option to turn on CC if we choose. Looking forward to seeing future videos from you. Thanks.
So many laws broken in this video - flying beyond visual line of sight, the rec center to laura loop is over 4000 ft no way you can see the drone at just over 100 ft altitude, flying over people, the pool worker at rec center, flying over moving vehicles on Marsh Bend trail. the faa is coming for you!
Thank you for your feedback. Have you considered offering more constructive criticism instead of being antagonistic? Let's lighten up and not give Villagers a bad name. Regarding your concerns: I used a drone weighing less than 0.55 lb, which means I can legally fly over moving vehicles, but not directly over a freeway in the same direction. However, I can cross it. I always maintain Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) while flying. If I lose sight of the drone due to buildings or trees, I bring it back into view. I took off from two locations to ensure continuous visual contact. Getting turned around and flying so far south from Saluki losing sight of the drone was unintentional, and I regret the confusion with the footage. I avoid flying over people by focusing on my screen. However, this can briefly distract me from the drone, leading to the earlier issue. Typically, I fly at construction sites on Sundays, but that day's weather was ideal. If you'd like to discuss this further, perhaps over the phone or over a cup of coffee, let me know.
Awesome video. Good times with some great people. We really enjoyed be there this year and meeting a lot of amazing people. Looking forward to attending again next year. Thanks for sharing this gathering. 🙏🏼🦅🇺🇸
