Hello Georgia this is amalnadh from india working in jubilee mission medical college and research institute as technicianIT support ,india, kerala , keep in touch if you read this comment
Only thing I can think of would be to have an easier and less stressful job. I've had 2 colleagues move from sys admin roles from other organizations to IT site tech roles at my place of work. To them, its far less stressful being an IT technician rather than being in charge of the entire network or Windows Servers or VOIP systems. When you're a sysadmin and one of your systems that you're responsible for goes down, everyone is pounding at your door every 5 minutes asking when it will be up. I'm being a bit facetious, but it does feel that way at times.
Good video, thank you snd well done in your new job. You mentioned second line support engineer, did you work as a first line before, what courses did you take?
Yes I think IT technician jobs will be mostly safe. Some companies may and have leveraged AI, but there will still need to be people running around plugging stuff into network ports or restarting computers or installing computers for new employees. No amount of AI can help Susie who calls the help desk every day trying to figure out why her printer doesn't work when the "Out of paper" light is blinking. No amount of AI help will be able to help Debbie plug in the USB headset into the USB port on the computer even if the helpful AI provides high quality steps and images. No amount of AI will be able to help Karen understand that she needs to connect her laptop to the docking station in order for her second monitor to come up. I'm exaggerating a bit, but yes there are people like that who seem to need help with every little IT related thing...
Hi , I an Electrical engineer having 5-6 years experience in 220kv grid station and also NEBOSH certified. I have some questions plzz help me about safety officer job information.
Nice video. Make sure to job hop aftera years exp. youll increase yoir salary by 10-20%. No more shift patterns and SLAs. Yournnext job should be internal IT
I’m from Preston and looking at retraining into IT. Eventually cyber security. Good to see a local lad make it rather than all the American videos I come across
My favorite part of the IT world, is all the folks that take specialized courses on security. It's their favorite thing to do. Want a job in IT? Get into Security. Every single time. I'd wager security over the next 10 years is about to become way more vulnerable.
It can still be her own story but just needs to write it down to follow with her line or train of thought. I would do that especially because English is not my first language so I read what u have written down to help with what I'm trying to communicate across.
Would of loved to hear more about the journey and salery from starting as juniour developer ? And how long it took to get a rise and go to next lvl its the information in really looking for . As i spoke with a chap yesterday on the phone from I.T career switch and im thinking of going ahead . In currently a plasterer on fairly good money so i would be taking a hit on my salery to start but from what i can see things will end up for the best should i put the effort and determination in . Any advice would be great . Thanks
I'm in a very similar boat to you but work in a completely different industry. I earn fairly good money in a safe career for the NHS but would prefer a career similar to Sam's as this is something I would be more interested in. Like you, I am prepared to take an initial drop in pay if a) it is at least £25k starting, as advertised, and b) its quite achievable to get promoted and earn better money without having to wait, e.g. for more than 5 years
