I got into competitive pokemon about a week ago through playing too much pokerogue. Out of all the channels I have found for VGC, your channel has been the most insightful and I always feel like I learn so much from your videos.
I still wonder if Feint isn't underrepresented in this format. A single Restricted leads to lots more switching while protecting from what I've seen. Could take advantage of that.
@@tennisman8304 I'd need to do a bunch of Bullet Punch calcs, but I could even see a Scizor w/ Feint working right now. Goodra also gets Feint which is nice if you can fit it. For picking off those Focus Sash mons or even just outside of Trick Room on Ranked and other non-Team Sheet formats. I'm not 100% clear how Feint interacts with Wide Guard, but if it cancels Wide Guard for both mons, that would be amazing.
@@Kasaazit does cancel wide guard. For example, most Mienshao on Calyrex-Shadow teams run feint so that astral barrage can be spammed without fear. Another neat combo that you could explore is feint Toxicroak + Kyogre. Toxicroak can help Kyogre spam water spout or origin pulse while hard countering opposing Ogerpon-Wellspring. The poison typing pairs also pairs well with Landorus-I (commonly run on Kyogre teams) to deal with tera fairy Raging Bolt or tera fairy Miraidon.
My main concern with the team is how hard it requires extra turns to actually make the two cores threatening. This makes it feels like it is both lacking in fire power, and requires minimal execution errors to pilot properly. It's because of this in team builder I find myself trending towards support mons that can also threaten the board (Ogers, Chi-Yu, Assault Vest users) while aiding my selected cores. Also I think Urshifu-S is criminally underrated in the meta right now. With a big influx of Terapagos, Indeedee-F, and Farigaraf I've been having great success on the ladder with it. It obliterates the two common trick room setters and one of the premier restricted mons while also offering some offensive utility with stuff like Taunt, Coaching , or Sucker Punch.
As usual, the sets are top tier 👌 👏 Bummer that the starstorm needs the calm mind. Given your experience now with the specs and mind comps, which do you prefer / think is more optimal?
I prefer the immediate damage of Specs. I don't think CM has been figured out to the extent that TW Specs has, right now I think the Specs teams are better built for the metagame.
You do not keep the Terastylization if Revival Blessing brings you back. If you haven't Tera'd in the battle and are revived you can still Tera, so its worth considering preserving that resource even more strategically.
Hey, I was looking in the spreads of the vgc room samples that you made, why is it 4 hp pao and not 4 defense? This is probably not the best place to ask but I dont any other way to contact you lol
I think a good approach is to force a Fire Tera out from Koraidon with your flutter mane's moonblast, and later in the game use Tera Starstorm + Tailwind to outspeed and KO the Koraidon. You can also keep an ogerpon in the back to protect your Terapagos from Koraidon using Follow Me if they have good counterplay for Tailwind.
@@TalonVGC forcing the tera is smart and helps, however i keep getting outsped bc of their flame charge and i cant keep their speed down with icy wind :/ gotta try with rockpon. whats the 4 you would usually bring?
You inspire every VGC content creator with the teams you recreate from tournaments, they all use these teams Cedric! Great work as always, glad you are back
I EV'd the Pelipper fairly aggressively since I didn't want to lose any rolls to specially defensive Incin / Amoonguss, I think I'm EV'd to survive unboosted CSR Astral Barrage / Psychic
I think there is a lot of room for creativity in Reg G with Chi-Yu. I've been dabbling with a set of Overheat/Dark Pulse, Snarl, Will-O-Wisp, and Protect with Safety Goggles (Tera Ghost, but with Protect this could be changed to ground for a comp like the one being showcased). I haven't really been missing Heat Wave, as I've seen a ton of Rain. I've been using it essentially as Incineroar lite, but letting me amp up the special attackers of the format.
