I think I was at this show! I used to have an audio cassette I recorded that I wore out and eventually lost. So happy you posted this! This I'm fairly certain was the first time I heard one of my favorite songs, Rich Kid Avenue.
I saw Paul three nights after this show at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis. I have great memories of that night, which was highlighted by the Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End medley. Everyone got a free concert program, which I still have.
What is this year 1993 that was probably a few years before he had that heart attack at the women’s club he really should’ve canceled that event he would love another 10 years or 11 years if he took a break from performing tiny Tim would’ve lived
I saw Paul on this tour, agree he was really rocking. I liked Flowers in the Dirt a lot, and his band were superb, especially Robbie McIntosh on guitar. Fantastic gig.
These girls are so bad at interviewing it’s an instant classic. One girl asked..to paraphrase “ Were you surprised the record company let you put out an album like this and where are you surprised or were you expecting anybody to come out and hear you play after buying the album and what other songs do you do to get them to stay?”
I had thought before seeing him with this line-up that Demos wasn't as technically adept as the other post-Mag-Earwig bassists, but listening to this four-man line-up makes it clear he's the only one who could have made the band fly like it did (like this) without a second guitar. Notice how much faster they play many of these songs as a four-piece -- and how well that works! Pollard sings like he's ten years younger for it. Demos' stage presence was incredible; he even accidentally kicked me on the shoulder; I cherish the scar....
Was the the first drummer or the second? Not to belittle the original drummer but my dad was the second drummer for them and unfortunately he just passed away not long ago. I know they have the other video that’s a live version by BIg Beef productions. From 19 the year before I was born. So he quit the band because of me😅. Love you always
I can't answer regarding the timeline of drummers for the band, but thanks for the note. Condolences to you and yours on the news of the passing of your father.
Hi Big Beef! My best remembrance (30 years ago--ha ha!!) is he and I were discussing me putting out a record, but my distributors slacked off with 'payments due'...ugh! Cash flow was key, and I basically had to fold, after 8 years...NOT FUN! DBH
