To be baptized means to be born into something new. Something different.
For the last 11 years I’ve spent my life touring colleges. I lived in airports, on airplanes, in rental cars and in hotels. I loved what I did but it always felt like something was missing.
When we traded my car for a Jeep Wrangler JK, we didn’t know what we were truly purchasing. But we were going to learn soon enough that all around the world people were transforming their Jeeps into overland vehicles. People were putting aside the convention of convenience and exploring the world on their own terms. On their own schedules. This...is what we’ve been looking for.
So join me and my family as we take on the life of overlanding and transform our Jeep into a vehicle ready to take on any terrain. Learn with us as we step out of our comfort zone of airlines and plush hotels. Maybe you’ll be inspired too and together we can all be baptized into a new life filled with unforgettable adventures.
I'm curious: Why do people still use walkie talkies and radios like this in the age of cell phones? I suspect there are good reasons I haven't considered.
Few reasons: 1) There is no cell signal where we explore sometimes. 2) When we hit the trails or hike, we need to be in constant communication to guide each other or get statuses of location. I'm not gonna keep the person on the phone for 3 hours or keep having to make a phone call lol 3) In emergency situations (like in Fla where we get hurricanes) cell towers go down. We once had to leave our house to go and find gas stations and open stores to get food in the aftermath of a hurricane and used walkies to communicate back to the people at home
There are always a few that are sour and miserable because of their short comings in their pathetic life choices and want to take it out on people. They do it for no other reason than it makes them feel better at the moment because they suffer no consequences on the internet unlike at work where they are being chew up and outcasted by their peers. These people cannot be helped as they are just sour losers in their own life. Don't let them get to you and your endeavour. Your life is too precious to give these pathetic and useless people a single second of your attention. Keep up the good work! Appreciate you taking time making these contents for us to enjoy and learn from!
The wire connectors came with the lights. I tried to look but the wires aren't imprinted. If I had to guess MAYBE 12-14 awg but don't hold me to that. The DRL halo lights that was thinner. Prob around 16. Fuse adapter I had laying around but you can get those at any auto supply store
Your video was OK until it got to the lengthy lecture about the negative comments you get. Why bother to even mention it? It would seem to me that giving that sort of viewer any notice at all will just encourage more of that sort of behavior. I hope your son has fully recovered from his pneumonia.
Thanks for the input. Honestly this video was supposed to be less review of the product and more addressing the video prior. So I filmed it in a way where people can either watch the whole thing or just the review parts or, hey, even the venting parts.
Those are 2 vastly diff things. A dist block is just a way to send power to multiple devices. An inverter is a device that converts 12v to like 24v so you can plug in things that have an AC plug (hair dryers, coffee makers, chain saws). Fridges made for vehicles are 12v appliances. You don't need an inverter. It comes with a 12v socket. You CAN use the provided AC plug and plug it into your inverter but try never to use an inverter if you don't have to because the conversion from 12v to 24v isn't super efficient. Again, the inverters are really for those devices that require more that 12v to run I personally didn't install an inverter cuz I've never needed to bring an appliance that has an ac plug. But some people do
@@BaptismOverland no i was researching to buy a booster and was about to get one of these. I was put off that all of the reviews (5 or 6) on weboost no one, ever mentioned this defeat. Weboost responded threadock was the cause. The shaft doesn’t crack, it is the antenna.
@@kimcroe yeah I know the issue you're talking about very well. But mine hasn't cracked at all. And it's not in different pieces vs the original. The way your original comment sounded (and the comment itself), I thought you already bought one and had issues. No one usually says it's junk unless they've had first hand experience with something.
@@kimcroe no need for apology! Was just clarifying. Because if you had one and had issues, WeBoost has been great with sending out replacements and such. They have really good customer service
Good stuff! I found this video right after it was released and forgot all about it until I saw a ad on instagram a couple of days ago and ya, I still don’t feel comfortable drilling holes in the canopy roof of my 96 bronco but now I know what I need to get
Enjoyed your video and your philosophy as well. Sometime around 2012 my first radio was the Midland LXT 310 (own two), still use them. Now I have need for repeater capabilities, so a while back I purchased a two pack of Tidradio TD-H3. This GXT3000 sounds particularly good, however their menu system appears the same as my twelve-year-old LXT 310; truly unfun. It would have been good if Midland incorporated a removable antenna, then maybe we could connect their Ghost antenna on the vehicle. Having owned a couple of Midland CB and LXT 310, I realize Midland produced quality products. Sadly, they fell far behind in the GMRS industry with HT improvements, such as repeater capabilities, USB-C charging, removable antenna, firmware upgrade, channel programing, and the like. Although they now include some of those, they are pricing themselves well above other HT devices having more capabilities for less than half Midland's price. Midland you can do better.
I really appreciate this and your other videos. My wife and I are looking to get a gmrs radio (or two) for our Jeep to use on our adventures this summer. Really helpful information! Thanks for what you do!
Instead of making a universal dock...............BUILD THEM WITH USB RECHARGING!!!! The fact MIDLAND continues to not include this feature is baffling. They included it in a few FRS radios in the T Series. The T51, 61 and 71 all had micro USB recharging. It's not USB-C but still most have micro USB lying around. Hell, you can get USB-C batteries for Baofengs now days. There's zero excuse for MIDLAND to do this other than being lazy or trying to fleece people for more money. I don't get specific to most brands other than being generally against MIDLAND, even after owning some and still having one of their small CB units around. But they have the power of the marketing dollar in their pocket and people who continue to push them when other, better, lower cost options exist, will do a disservice to those who follow them. As far as compliance. There are plenty of non MIDLAND overseas radios (even MIDLANDs come from overseas) that are PART95 certified so they're as compliant as any other PART 95 radio.
I agree. I hope at some point they just make it all USB C and call it a day. Maybe a dock for organization but not have it reliant on the shape. Maybe a dock to slip the clip onto and then you route the usb cable through it Damn...maybe I'll DIY one
New subscriber here and appreciate the craft, sense of aesthetics and music you put in to making these videos. Seeing the first one, I subscribed to start watching the others and get a lot of useful info from them. What's your family heritage? (my mother is filipino)
I ordered the geek Aire brand but it felt like it was stuck in low. I returned it and got the set power smartele one. Its arriving tomorrow. My son has baseball tournaments coming up . I'll put it to the test then. Yours still holds charge? That's one of the complaints I read.
After recently switching from ham general to Gmrs, I sure appreciate the Gmrs radio content in an overland context. The handheld reviews are especially helpful since I typically buy a few handhelds for others who come wheeling with me. 73, WSDJ673 Prescott, AZ
Appreciate ALL of your videos....radio or otherwise!! You always have great info, honest opinions and give folks the information they need to make educated decisions on how to spend their hard earned money!! JOB WELL DONE!!!!!
First time watching your video. Never owned a radio but they seem interesting. Might consider buying one for emergencies. Thank you for sharing the love and wisdom. I hope your son is doing better.
Yeah, can’t let the trolls and greifers that think they can run your life with their poor knowledge and unthought out crap posts. Glad for you to ignore the crap posts. Keep on keeping on Asia, your vids aer awesome and glad also to see that your kido pulled through.
