What type of foam you are applying the glue to in this video?

Love your videos!! I’ve been doing upholstery for a year now, and just got my first industrial walking foot sewing machine that’s a lock stitch. Do you tie of your ends when your done sewing your lines? Because I notice you don’t use a back stitch. Or can I rely on my lock stitch for that? Because I’ve been tying off all my ends when I’m done sewing a line
@AtomicAutoworksTV
@AtomicAutoworksTV 16 дней назад
We do back stitch on some jobs. Like daily drivers however on nicer stuff we usually hand tie for look and guaranteed lock. Thanks for watching Make sure to subscribe, next week we will be bring back our weekly giveaway.

Have you have any customers complain about leg circulation because of the front part of the cushion? At first i didn't have any issues with the comfort,but since for more than a year i feel extreme pain in the back of my knees every time i drive for a couple of hours. Like the metal front frame its cutting my circulation to my legs. Im thinking of buying a new seat or get a new diferent model seat to see if it has more padding.

Newbie question? Do you need to wear mask when grinding foam? Do you get foam dust that can get into your lungs like body filler? May be a stupid question but I really would appreciate answer. Love your videos. Subbed and liked video.
@AtomicAutoworksTV
@AtomicAutoworksTV Месяц назад
You should probably always wear a mask. For some reason we have never had foam dust in our nose like body filler or wood dust . It’s just hard to talk on camera or wear glasses and the mask as the fog up .

Would be really interested to know what size needles you use and the thread specification. I'm looking at maybe getting V92 marine thread as I want a nice thick pronounced stitch, but I don't know if it will fit size 100 needles and it's expensive stuff to make a mistake with.

Price is really very as there are many options. Sometimes it’s just outer rockers other time it’s enters and outers and then sometimes it’s inner outers supports and cap corners. Did you glue down first?
@AtomicAutoworksTV

Sometimes we do a light glue to hold the pieces on before we rap. Gluing is always a personal preference. If a part is heavily curved we usually glue to keep it in place.

Great tutorials! When sewing the seat gusset to the seat base….. do you start in the middle of the gusset and work both ways or start at one end and go all the way around? I looks like you start in the center
@AtomicAutoworksTV
@AtomicAutoworksTV 3 месяца назад
That’s funny , I frequently say in videos how I do that process wrong and explain why. I do start in the center however overlap the stitch so it looks like a continuous seem. When working with even the best pattern makers it’s real tough to start on one side and sew around a curved piece and still have it exactly in the center. It’s a bad habit that works for me and have been doing it for over 20 years lol

The final layer of white foam, is it just a half inch layer to make everything smooth ?
@AtomicAutoworksTV
@AtomicAutoworksTV 3 месяца назад
So on high end seats we utilize closed cel foams and treat them like body work and sand super smooth. On the non higher end seats like this we still sometimes use close cel foam and sculpt however instead of spending a lot of time sanding we use a firm 1:4” scrim backed foam. Thanks for watching
