Videos of my remote control hobby. I'm not an expert on all things RC, I just enjoy the hobby. I have a growing collection of Hobby and Toy grade RCs. I have on road and off road as well as some helicopters in a variety of sizes.

I remember having an RC car with that control, must have been in the 90s. That was a long time ago and I am sure it was red, but I have no idea what car it was. Your conversion does it justice. The old RC was amazing back when it was all that was available, but life has moved on 😁👍
That’s awesome!!. I managed to find a nicer version a year ago so a future project/video is to modify one and fit the body shell to the hobby grade chassis and do a fun comparison. Someday……
@@tristanharrisrbravo The tires are a very hard/firm rubber so it would be difficult to take off the wheels. Maybe soak in hot water to soften up enough to remove.
@@DoubleCheekedupOnAThursday That’s cool. I’m sure it was so fun back then compared to other RCs. These get a bit expensive on eBay if in good condition and still work.
Nice to see mods to toy grade cars and not only putting a toy grade car body onto a hobby grade chassis. To a hobby grade purist this might not count but it still has its place in the RC world 😊. I have a 1/24 Murcielago upgraded to run on 1S. It could do 2S but that would blow the lights. Have a Veneno that is setup for 2S. Other than the ESCs and steering servos everything else is stock on both cars. Would be great to put our cars head to head and race. We need a venue for toy grade modified car racing 😊
@@markieh04 I really enjoy modifying toy grade RCs. It’s fun & sometimes challenging to add better performance to nice looking RCs. It would be fun to race others who like doing this.
There are so many body options and types of cars available in toy grade form. I wouldn't have enough money to buy all the cars I wanted if I was paying hobby grade prices 😮. I need to do a video of the modified Veneno. It started as a challenge between another friend who modifies cars and myself. I finished mine, he needs to complete his. I have been "toying" with the idea of getting folks together who like this sort of thing...

Really nice work, dude! Great mods!!! 😃 About the 130 motor in the smaller car, try to get a 180 motor! It's exactly the same shape, but longer. And it's a much better motor as well! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks for all of your comments. It did come with the matte finish. I probably won’t go brushless because the original gearbox had issues every time I used a 3S Lipo instead of a 2S Lipo. Luckily I was able to find a replacement and it is currently working without any issues.
Thanks for the comment. They both actually have suspensions front and rear. Basically the usual toy grade spring types. The 1/14 scale cars always have front and rear suspension, but the smaller versions have front, but not always rear. I usually have to soften the rear spring on the larger models (too stiff). Love the red white and blue! I brushless swapped one of my cars. Used the gtr chassis with rx7 torsion wires and upgraded ldrc shock combo with rx7 body. Its a weird mix up of parts but was made to run on the local big drift track. Would love to see you modify yours aswell!
@@MooseRidez I was wondering if anyone would pick up on the “red, white and blue” (‘Merica!) theme. (Although Japanese cars made in China🤣) Anyway, I might start with suspension and servo mods and see how that works.

@@user-kb8wn9yo7f I did modify it, but I’ve been having issues with it. It initially worked fine, then the steering servo had issues so I changed it. Then as I was testing it, I had issues with the gearbox so I fixed that. Was starting to make a video when I had more gearbox issues. I think I finally have it fixed again but I’ve been very busy this last month so I haven’t had time to finish the video. Hopefully I can get to it soon.

Soooo… 😂 My friends and I were in cold lake Canada for uh…training. There was nothing to do. We went to RadioShack and the three of us each bought one of these. One friend sucks at life and crashed/broke his immediately. We bought it off him for spares. But we kept confusing who was driving which car, hence the black stripes. I tried to make them not suck too bad. The holes for the shocks were made with a leatherman. The origin tires were completely worn out which made the car undriveable, hence the new ones. I’m glad it found a good home!
Thanks for the information. I was curious if anyone ever wondered what happens to RC stuff that sells on EBay. I like collecting RCs like this and fixing them up. I’ve not worked on this yet but hope to soon. I’ve got a lot of other Rc projects (too many) I’d like to complete as well. Sounds like you had a lot of fun with this Rc.
@@MCsCreations Thank for the comment. I’d found just the body shell on eBay a while ago and was able to fit it on the rally chassis. Wasn’t a great fit initially, but fits better now.
I actually found just the body shell on eBay a few years ago. I’d hoped it would fit a regular 1/10 chassis but it was not long enough. It was a decent match for the Rally Chassis.
@@martijnvdbent6908 Probably the easiest way to get a little more speed is to increase the power. You can buy AA sized 3.7v batteries (regular are 1.5v). Do one 3.7 with 2 regular batteries. I did this with this one before modifying. Increases acceleration but still relatively controllable. I dont think wltoys is one to take lightly, i never really paid attention to WLtoys but after this video imma look up some videos of them, cause that throttle response said something to me and you couldn't give it full throttle, but i could tell they was ready to go if you held it....
