I totally disagree on many points.... on our german highways you are one of the slowest vehicles lol...0-120 mph its cool but after that the bike struggles to accelerate further. My 370z was definitely faster than my actual MT07 after 60mph. Bought my MT07 3 weeks and 1500 miles ago as my first ever bike and Im already bored of the power lol.... Yes I still need to learn many things especially fast cornering and Im far away from very good biker skills BUT the power of the MT07 is not the problem. Btw its not slow! I have a lot of fun driving it but I guess its a good beginner bike. It definitely doesnt have to much power. Here in germany you are - apart from trucks - one of the slowest vehicles on the highway if you ride 85 mph. But you cant really drive much faster because its a naked bike and it sucks to drive fast on a straight road. I dont regret the purchase tbh.
Still, one of my dream bike. though I live in a certain SEA country, with a crazy taxes which charging 100% tax for "luxury item". Anyways, considering I've ridden 150cc bike for almost 7 years now(mid 20 now) , this should be a perfect bike for me (If i do get one sadly)
Is is okay to wash the bike like that? Do you spray over everything? Im nervous to wash mine lol and do you let it cool down at all before spraying it?
There is no "good" or "bad" beginner bike. Its about the rider. If you dont know anything about bikes or if you dont have any self control, heck, even a 125 could get you in serious trouble. I started on a 750 and i dont regret it one bit. Its just a matter of self control and self conciousness
in the UK, you do your motorbike test at the last day of your training you do a four day course and you go out riding for an hour on your test day and if they think you're good enough they will pass you but there's not very common unless you've ridden before for more than two years on a 125 and you can get teared license a license is your full license and you can ride any bike when you turn 24 and in the UK you can do what's called an A2 license and you can ride anything with 47 brake horsepower or you can get a restrictor on a bike like an MTO seven like you've got like a frost or restrictor and it restricts your speed, but you can still get your top speed but just a bit slower but there's a lot more strict in the UK
I am a women and rides and I love my MT07 but this is not my first bike..this probably my 5th bike...great bike...but i have to rev match...good torque...i am try not to wheelie..you need to be good at throttle...love it tho..(MT =Master Toque)...not beginner bike for sure but i love it
I got an MT-07 as my first bike and I’ve been having a blast. I wasn’t looking for something stupid fast and also wanted something that was comfortable to ride. It checked all the boxes. Sure it sounds like a leaf blower stock but it’s so much fun. Absolutely recommend as a beginner bike for those that are reading.
i started off on a kx85 when i was young and i learned what whiskey throttle and clutch control was that first ride, later rode a trx450 quad, then i got an mt07 and it all felt comfortable with me starting off on the street
What if im in my late 20s with like 7yrs dirtbike experience but no street experience? Also ive had an r/t charger before which i know this is not faster than
I started on a 06 zx6r. It's all about throttle and clutch control and not being a dumb ass on the road. If you're talking about your first motorcycle to learn to do wheelies on, then yes...start on something smaller. Before I got my R1 everyone was telling me how fucking terrifying it was, and made me almost regret my purchase, but honestly it's the tamest thing just riding around town.
I have to disagree. I got an MT07 as my first bike and it’s honestly way easier to ride and feels so much more controllable than my friends dirt bikes. Yes the bike is extremely torquey but it’s easy to keep under control and it feels really nimble and stable. As long as your not an absolute goon it’s not a problem
Yea dude that’s a beginner bike, I started on a r6 and I still consider the 600 class as a beginner class. Mt07 and r7 = beginner bikes…. R3 = something I wouldn’t take on the freeway 😂
Here’s a question I have yet to get any insight on.. I started riding dirt bikes a couple years ago started on a yz125 literally a week later on an xcf250 then a couple months later onto a fc250 race bike(motocross) then fc450. I’m still comfortably riding a husqvarna fc450 off-road ofcourse. Now I know dirt and street are totally different but I can safely manage a 450, does that still make me starting out street wise on an mt07 a bad idea? I’m really wanting to get on the road and I don’t think there’s anyway I could possibly get a 400 or even 500 without wanting to sell it for something bigger asap.
I have a 2024 r7... started on a Chinese 250cc and really happy i did. You need to have respect for the bike no matter the bike though. You can get killed even on a grom making bad decisions.
Bro for the first time in years you’re the only person who has the right opinion about this bike everybody keeps saying it’s a beginner bike but I’ve seen it kill grown men who are good riders because of how fast it is
I sell Yamahas, and the mt07 is what I would call the upper limit for a starter bike, some can start on it but most shouldn't. It's very torquey and loves to wheelie, which can be a problem for a new rider. It makes a far better second bike than first, once you've learned the basics and built some confidence on an appropriate machine.
I started on an r3 and recently upgraded to an mt07. On one hand the bikes a beauty and if i got it as my first bike i 100 percent wouldve dropped it cause i 100 percent dropped the r3 twice. That being said i may still say i wish i got the mt07 first. The r3 was really nice for learning all the basics but also engrained a few bad habits into me like being able to open the throttle all the way throughout the gears with no repercussions. The mt07 has probanly taught me more ahout clutch control and throttle control in a week than the r3 did in half a year. Dont regret my decisions am still glad i got the r3 first have alot of love for the bike but an mt07 100 percent could be a beginner bike.
Started out on the MT07 myself... and I can attest that it's not a beginner bike. It's punchy, torquey and very agile. Do I regret getting one? Not one bit... but this guy speaks truths, there's a steep learning curve for a bike with this much torque and punch for its weight. Years later though - Still like my MT07. I don't feel as though Ive outgrown it. (Mainly urban / city riding).
We’re the same age I just turned 24 last month and I wish I would’ve got into riding at 19 when the pandemic was going on and I had the time and money to learn 😂😂
Facts. Every RU-vid channel calls everything a beginner bike. I started on a 1981 gs650, probably too big. Went to a vstar 1100. Then to a 2008 hd street glide, then a 2019 mt09 then a 2008 street bob. I stunted the mt09 and the street bob (after a complete stunt build). I’m currently riding a 21 z125 and getting an r7. I’ve been riding for 11 years and I had a blast on my buddies cbr300.
So how about for somebody who had previous experience but a long time ago. I drove in the 90's 3 years a xjs600, briefly a cbr1000f and 2 years a yamaha gts1000, all about 25000 km per year. Then moved to cars. Did not ride many bikes in the last few years, plan do ride again, but less km since I have a car and family, too. So have to get used to it again, but I guess the MT-07 would do fine, and the full in the wind will keep me from losing my drivers license.
In my county the MT-07 is used a lot as a learner bike at driving schools. I recently purchased one myself and after a test ride i can see why, they are very easy to ride but i do agree with you that they have a lot of low down power which might give inexperienced or beginner riders a bad day if they yank the throttle. Having throttle control is crucial on these bikes so people who have never ridden motorcycles before should be careful or pick another bike to start on.
