Re the notion that AI is not going to take anyone's job. Given that the declared intent of the major AI developers is to create what they call AGI- which they define as an AI that replicates the cognitive abilites of the average human- (that's most people of course, by definition) Then- if this AGI actually comes to exist- not only will AI take most people's jobs but it will also take any future jobs that lay within the capability of the average human. So even if AI does create new jobs, these jobs are likely to be done by AI. So the openly declared intent of the people currently engaged in developing AI is to put the average human out of a job, because- again by definition- if they create a technology that replicates the average human's abilites then any job within the abilites of the average human is likely to be done not by humans but by AI for reasons of cost and efficiancy. Exceptions might be things like plumbers or other skills that require both good cognition and manual dexterity- but anyone who generates or manipulates digital information for a living will be in serious trouble if AGI or something similar ever arrives. And even the plumbers may be in trouble if AGI is combined with robotics to produce a genuinely agile smart robot. On the bright side I seriously doubt that AGI will arrive any time soon, but who really knows?
