I regret not doing enough research on the breeder when I got my first snake ... I was young and I thought the pet store I was going to was good. They were not. Every snake in the 4 clutches they had all died within a month or two of hatching, and they were being sold VERY small.... my snake lasted a little longer, but it did pass.... 😢 I was so heart broken... I spoiled that snake, it was really hard to deal with ... then I looked into them a bit more, which was not easy back almost 20 years ago, and yeah learned that almost all their babies were not surviving and they knew and just kept doing it... Maybe one day I'll start working on a setup and look for a rescue in my area.. ♡

Yeah I definitely agree that snakes don't bite unless provoked. I got bit by my ball python a few weeks ago and can wholeheartedly say it was my fault. I was so anxious to get her to feed after a hunger strike that I didn't use feeding tongs; definitely a silly goose move 😅

I hate clickbait and watch your videos because I like your content regardless. I also watch her videos because I like her content, but I think her thumbnails are pretty boring and could use some work only it's not a big deal. I think she's right in that using clickbait and roasting other creators is like a disaster we (the viewers) can't look away from and it can be harmful. It's harmful to your reputation and to other people who see your thumbnails and don't actually watch the video. I know it's your thing to post a negative title and then absolutely show the opposite situation in the video, which I personally find adorable, but to people who don't know that's your thing or who don't bother watching the video it can be confusing. Unfortunately, clickbait won't die and views are what generate monetary income on YT, so until YT changes I don't imagine clickbait will go anywhere. Snake Discovery are my favorite creators, but I guarantee you they won't respond to her video because they're always the bigger person and have a reputation to uphold. Maybe something to think about, but I'm just one viewer and your other viewers don't seem to care, so you do you. Just don't go yelling into an echo chamber and be surprised to hear your own voice back. Much ❤

I'd still never get a snake, and still wary of them but I feel better admiring them from a distance. I found Snake Discovery with there early egg cutting video's and i was hooked! There just nice fun and relaxing to watch!

Hey Adam, fairly new subscriber here. I will admit, you did catch me with great thumbnails when I first found your channel. After watching them, I never felt like you had done a bait and switch and I own two reptiles because of info I got from your videos. I can comfortably say that I am proof of concept for your advertising model. I was somebody with no reptiles or knowledge and became someone who wanted to research and “become an expert” (to the best of my ability) after realizing it’s not too difficult to care for ball pythons and beardies. Thanks for all the great videos and advice!

I actually think snake bites, REAL, average snake bites, do more for snake education than trying to pretend they don't bite at all. I got bit by one of my kingsnakes in a presentation with children and instead of exalting their fear, the reaction was quite the opposite: "Oh... is that it? I thought it would be WAY worse!" and the reality is that, the VAST majority of snake bites are completely uneventful, and the only ones getting sensationalized are the venomous ones. Honestly, seeing Emily and Ed gasping in glee as complete clutches of angry baby bull snakes bit them and did absolutely nothing is more of a statement to how genuinely wonderful and harmless these animals are than watching someone twirl a corn snake around their fingers. The aforementioned king snake bites me every single time because he thinks literally everything that moves is food, and it has not once been an eventful situation

Her thumbnail is the best for people that are searching for a specific thing. The problem is that the search engine of youtube SUCKS and her video will probably never pop up even if I search the exact words in her thumbnail. In theory, hers would be easier to find but that's sadly not how youtube works. I agree that I'm less inclined to click on a thumbnail with a biting snake, even if I know your content, but you're right about converting instead of targeting people already convinced. I truly think that photoshopped appearances are more of an issue because they go in the range of people will think they exist, a bit like the AI effect with fake pictures claimed as true

Low hanging fruit. 1K subs? 11 months as a YT channel. Hardly seems worth the time to do a 17-minute video, but I see the clickbaitness concept (sp?) for this video. Drama. It sells. Got me to comment. 🤣 Let the clickbait party continue! 🎉🥳

Sorry, I know you asked us to not be upset with this RU-vidr you're discussing but... she attacked Emily and Ed. There's no forgiving that. Let's add on the fact that her actions with that video could honestly hurt reptiles by trying to convince people not to listen to yours or Snake Discovery's advice. That's dangerous. Also, in my opinion, she made that video just for the views. Clout chasing. Shes a newer channel and wanted to increase views so she made her own clickbait. I don't have it in me to not feel negatively toward this woman.

Her thumbnail is waaaay too busy, and I would skip over it without a second thought. You and Snake Discovery have the main subject of the video in the title and thumbnail, but the text is short and too the point! This oyher RU-vidr, on the other hand, has redundant pictures of her and uses too many words to say, "Socializing Your Snake." Also, judging a book by its cover much, lady?

I don't think either Thumbnail is "better," I think they serve different purposes. Snake Discovery is achieving their goal of reaching lots of people- awesome! Do we know the vision/goal of this Content creator? Perhaps her target is more of a niche audience. Maybe she didn't think of all this, in those terms. If she is cool with staying pretty small/growing gradually, great!

I guess, this lady never heard of the principle you brought up "AIDA" (Attention Interest Desire Action). I teach that my kids in school, actually to know that ads want to create a "want" and "need" so that they buy stuff. That works with videos as well. I know this, still don't care, and watch these videos. Thank you for addressing this in such an educational way.

Oof. I hate the clickbait thing. I still watch your videos. But I would NEVER click on one of her videos. That thumbnail. It’s a video about reptiles? All I see is someone lady. The same lady multiple times. We’re sure it’s not about her? She might be holding something? Couldn’t tell you what. The thumbnails are so small on my phone I can’t see. Which also means I DEFINITELY can’t read that novel she’s put above her six heads on there. I for sure won’t be watching since she didn’t bother to actually WATCH anything she criticized so her viewpoint is biased af regardless. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I am a long time follower, and channel recommend. So I really hope I don't receive hate for my opinion, since it is being asked for. I think it is hurting snakes a lot by putting thumbnails of snake sin a bad light. She makes a very good point I agree with, a lot of people will see the thumbnails and not watch the video. Those images do stick, and false information is already abundant. So when commonly watched and large channels like yours has a readily available thumbnail that people who do not watch your videos see, and then associate snakes with being further bad. Snakes already have a bad stigma, I can not go outside my apartment with my snake on my arm without people calling cops on me or scared of me and my snake thinking I'm going to hurt them with my snake some how. This is a problem and its made worse by images showcasing massive wounds that were not even real. And while some snakes are dangerous and can bite, the same can be said about a dog or a cat. But this hype around snakes being evil and deadly is TOO much. So clickbait is a non issue, its just showcasing photo shopped wounds and titles that make people think snakes are worse than the public already thinks of them. i also don't understand why she is being attacked for caring about snakes. She made it clear a lot of the creators she talked about, have wonderful content, but thumbnails are hurting the community. She is not ignorant to some of these tubers being good people but still doing not so good thumbnails that are ultimately not so good for people outside the community. And causing more fearmongering over snakes. Hate me if you will, but I love animals and i will always stick up for them when I feel I should.

To me click bait is a video with a headline claiming to be about one thing then the content is about something else. It's essentially false advertising. For instance yesterday a video claimed: "How and why Sheriff shot judge." Then in the first sentence the host admitted that they had no idea why the incident happened. To me, that's click bait. You baited me in with info I wanted, but failed to deliver.

People say some judge a book by the cover, but the cover is what catches your attention and gets you to start reading. Without any information telling you what your reading, how many books are you actually going to open? Something has to catch your attention in some way or another. Same way with videos, we need a hint, I'm not clicking a bunch of videos with a black screen telling me nothing It's sinister and questionable. Your informational and give us an example of what to expect, as should be done. You do a good job, so does your editor, and thank you for the efforts you make! And I've been following snake discovery for years, has helped my kids with their view in reptiles. They've even helped, a bit, my s.o's fear of snakes (through knowledge) What you call click bait is the hook Your information is the line and sinker

Adam I totally agree with several of the points you made. I myself have taken art classes and have a degree in Multimedia and it was always preached that less means or equals more. Going off on a tangent, the same thing can be said for PowerPoint Presentations. No one wants to look at something that has a ton of words. Too many words equals too much going on in the picture, thumbnail, etc. This is my personal opinion, I think she's over generalizing things. Just as you stated not everyone is trying to hurt the animals they use in their videos. Some like you and Snake Discovery do videos for the purpose of educating individuals.

Over and over and over again throughout the video i just kept thinking "Yea Adam, you're exactly right." I'm sure she is a great creator and has a heart of gold, but you're right about this. As a recent reptile convert, I can tell you your vids, snake discovery vids, and others similar were responsible for convincing me that reptiles are not born evil and their temperament is in great part due to the way i interact with them. Kudos also for treating her with respect and telling us the views not to harass her. She's doing what she thinks is in the best interest of the animals just like you all. Based on the way she handled this however I won't be checking out her channel.
