I have done this at home. Nasty patient job. Need eyes on the end of the fingers on 1 hand. May on RU-vid took hours to do it, but they did it. 💪💪 If this valve ever gets plugged up or stuck closed due to sludge,.. then the engine will build up pressures and start to have oil leaks at seals and gaskets. And mine was all dry and the PCV valve was clean but I feel better now that I know. I never did see the threaded hole.? 1st time I did not mind not seeing the hole and not being able to put a finger in it. 😏😏 It appears to have a pipe thread on the valve (tapered) and it had a tad of sealer on the threads. So since it is so time consuming to get to I cleaned mine inside and out and then applied a light smear of thread sealant specific to this application.
An easy restoration fix, I would have liked to see a more challenging example, Heavy oxidation and old cracking flacking clearcoat like 2kmax, This kit is good for light oxidation and Fogging!! Anyway you did a good job the difference is clear to see!!! 🤔🇬🇧👍
Does this part power the hatch open? My hatch will not open or close. When I hit the button to open, I hear it unlock but does not open. I then have to crawl in side and unlock to open the hatch. When I manually close it, I have to still hit the button for it to latch otherwise I get a warning on the dash. So seems like what ever powers the hatch open or closed has failed. I am trying to understand if this part does that or if there is another part involved to power the gate open and closed. Thank you.
nobody wants to say where this is because it is part of a mining bond that is *NOT* open to the public. it has was never open to the public, but previously was not strictly enforced because there was very few people back there until people started posting it on social media and drawing lots of attention and big group rides. it is now permanently blocked off :(
Thanks a lot!!! I followed your flawless video and fixed the problem in 1 hour and a $47 part via Amazon vs the quote I received from the bodyshop ($620!!!). Manual latch in my case. Take care.
Great job showing us how it’s done. Telling us what size sockets you used was very helpful, and a real time save. I’m also cheap. Why pay someone hundreds of dollars when you can get it done yourself (& take a second to add locktite & torque the bolts the right way). Now I can get this job done myself.
@@robertallen5531 I did a second coat about 24 hrs later on the passenger headlight because it rained immediately after I applied the first coat and caused water spots. You should be fine with a second coat on there
So, you just pulled/yanked the hose out from the pcv valve side? I'm a diy person, and when i got there, i was kinda of scared to yank it out by hand mainly because i wasn't sure it was going to crack
The manual latch replacement went perfectly. Thank you. Part number on Amazon was easily found and was correct. Fitment was almost perfect for a third party part ($30). ~30min to repair. ❤ 2018 Sorento LX
Yes it's holding up well, an update video is on my radar I just haven't had much time to make any videos lately. It's been a year and a half and they're not as clear as when I first done them but they still look good. There is a slight haziness that I think would clear up if I just reapplied the sealer to them. In all fairness to the product, the car sits in direct sunlight all it's life and I have only washed it once since this video 🙈
At least for my truck, when this was messed up 4 Hi still worked good but would still give the wrench symbol, when you put it in low it would just flash the wrench and stay in 4 HI. This part would be the culprit if you put it in low range and it doesn't go into low range. The vacuum hubs are a common failure but I don't know if they would give you the check 4x4 message. Regardless, it's free and takes less than 10 minutes to try so can't hurt to give it a run.
2010 camry 2.5 owner here. My check engine light flashes, car will start missing, and it burns oil. Quite a bit of oil. How likely is it that it could be a pcv valve and line? It runs fine at idle.
Unfortunately that doesn't sound like a PCV issue. I would start with reading the codes, there is likely something in there that can help you diagnose the issue. I would also recommend a compression test on all 4 cylinders, I don't know the exact PSI you should see but they should all be within 10% of each other max. Good luck, hopefully it's something simple.
Good job. You work on things but don't tear stuff up. I have a feeling these 4x4 systems sit so much instead of the parts being activated that bits of corrosion etc can set up. Got a 2014 yesterday that somebody broke the dash 4x4-4x2 rotary switch knob off. It still lines back up and rotates. Thinking about applying strong super glue to the broken posts and see if it will go a bit longer. : ) If anyone has encountered that?
That's exactly the issue, the average person needs 4x4 maybe a couple times a year. I try to use mine once every couple of weeks now and it seems to help keep it in operation. On the switch, a cheap amazon one is around $20 and would be a good thing to have incase your glue idea doesn't work out. amzn.to/3VPwaQV there's options if you have the diff lock or don't.
@@BCDriven : Thanks for the link BC. Guess what . . cleaned off the two broken plastic posts with alcohol, mixed up a batch of original JB Weld, applied only to the posts, and inserted back into position. Rigged up a walking stick with a pad on the end to apply slight pressure to the rotary switch into the dash for 24 hours. Voila! She's fixed Southern Style. Of course, it may break tomorrow, but it was easy and fun. Thanks for the inspiration. Now I'm fighting a real battle - a 2015 6.7 powerstroke that starts making a terrible buzzing noise- seems to be connected to the transmission but no drivability differences. Suspect something loose. Need help to find it probably unless I am able to step up my DIY game.
I didn't, just a cheap thing to try. The valve should rattle freely and the old one sounded stocky when I shook it. Again just a cheap thing to try. It didn't completely stop the consumption but it did slow it down a lot.
This is the best video out there!!! So here's my problem i was driving home in my 2016 F250 Diesel and all of the sudden my freaking brakes were hard to come to a stop so i freaked out and white smoke was coming out of the exhaust all at the same time!! I know my vacuum pump has been leaking for over a year now.... But does the vacuum pump failure cause white smoke to come out of the exhaust?....... Thank you!!! Arthur
So - getting ready to leave for a vacation, my hatch would not open. it would beep, but not open, I crawled in the back an use the manual latch switch to open the hatchback, but then would not lock when i closed it. Do you think it is just the latch or a combination? my hatchback is a powered lock.
PS the Haynes auto instructs me to take the intake manifold apart LOL I'm not ready to mess with that thing cuz it requires messing around with the fuel rail. Help guys, two obstacles PS and the air vaccumm device. If I can get either one of these two out of the way, I can get to it. The air vaccum is tricky, I think it's attached to to the intake manifold. This is very upsetting Toyota f their design. Every car have PCV on top not tucked behind intake manifold.
Its a pretty janky setup honestly. It's just cut springs/short shocks up front and blocks in the rear. All bump stops are either trimmed or removed and it's still pretty much bottomed out.
Great video. My new to me Jeep had bead locks that were loosing/breaking bolts and needed spacers. Spacers caused the wheels to start leaking, so I'll clean them up as suggested and use the tire sealer and lock tite.
I really don't want to do this damn job, but I can't justify spending like the 400 bucks or whatever I've been hearing quoted to replace it, knowing I have the damn tools and can make the time.
Don’t buy there stuff I ordered a set of radius rods in October and it was cold so I went to install them on Saturday and there employees gave me the wrong bushings I was told they would not make it right I was to pay for there mistake over a 20$ part !!!!!!! Right to ZRP I go !!!!!! This story will be told to everyone I know for sure !!!! 
Hate to hear you had a bad experience. They were great to work with both sets I've ordered and put on. I even had questions on the factory spacer that comes with the TRE rzrs and they got me an answer via email within an hour or so. I have no affiliation with them I just like their products.
Outstanding..... My 4x4 has not been working for over 3 months. You just saved me a lot of money. Had my truck scheduled for repair in two days, saw your video, tried it with some skepticism but it worked. Are you a mechanic or DIY ? A mechanic told me there are signs that your pcv valve is bad like high idling , oil leaks and air leaks . Are these signs a fool proof sure way to tell if pcv valve is bad ? I've got oil leaks btt not the other signs . Major pain to replace mine . I've got to take off imtake manifol and a few other things or pay a shop . 11 Camry 2ARFE 2.5 L It's right by the intake manifold and HYDRAULIC POWER STEERING PUMP
