I'm very late to this video. That said, I think that as a Jamaican, you're missing A LOT of context about how things are in North American/European societies. Here, it doesn't matter how much a black woman wants to put on makeup and dress nice and present herself to the world - the darker she is, the more ugly, masculine, and aggressive she is perceived. The further away from whiteness a woman is (in features, hair, and skin tone) the more invisible or less favourable heterosexual men look at her. This includes white men AND black men here. Then there's the intersection between that and things like being overweight or having a disability. Anyway, in this case, the closer a woman appears to whiteness, the more favourable she is perceived/the more beautiful she is. As such, heterosexual men are more willing to go out of their way and do things for her because they think she's pretty. In psychology, this phenomenon has also been studied and can also been seen as the "halo effect". People perceived as attractive are more likely to get more attention, privileges, and even JOBS than people perceived as non attractive. In short: to respond to Steph's video and say that how people treat her (or other black women in predominately European countries) is due to how she treats herself/presents herself to the world is extremely short sighted. European countries have a racism problem, which also translates to what is perceived as beautiful. A white woman can walk out with no makeup on or do the BARE minimum here and will receive loads of attention. A black woman can do the most and maybe she'll be noticed (but if there's a lot of white or non black woman, she may get no sort of attention). You can even see this on American reality romance shows with black women. A lot of time, the black women are treated like shit, and the white women (or non black) will receive gifts and favours. That said, I think something in your wheelhouse that you could tackle is pretty privilege and colourism in JA, because that DEFINITELY exists there. It may not be on the same level as European countries, but it absolutely does exist.
I think I reach about after 9 or 10.. and I left around 6 or 7 but it was overall a three hour journey considering also that I drove at the speed limit as well.
It's beautiful but it's a destructive beach based on the amount of waves coming g in per minute. Looks lonely too. Hope they fix it up and invest in making it a tourist area also putting some wave breakers out in the sea to give it a long beach life
