Yep. This is the journey I have started. Mental health has caused me to stay in the self pity pit for too long. I started running. My legs are fucked but my mind is strengthening.
I’m at the point where I’m going back to biochem textbooks and rewriting metabolic pathways in almost mechanistic detail for learning’s sake. Kinda fun when it makes sense at a cellular level ngl.
p.s. As brand-new content creator for my field, I'm super-impressed with all the very-relevant graphics you use. May I ask: Are you using AI to create them, or are you just really good at finding/commissioning the graphics? I hope you get commissions to teach workshops at schools and universities- your video content is very helpful with learning!
Thanks so much! And best of luck on your journey as well Jennifer! The art is a mix of things I draw, art from another artist I hired and finding graphics online! Hope that helps :)
Wow, this video really well-layed-out and presented. Definitely an upgrade to what I learned about "speed reading." 'Can't wait to apply it today to a book I want to dive into. It also gives me pause about how to be more-intentional when I teach. Thank you!
Omgoshhhhhh algorithm sent me this video I got halfway through and then my app crashed- for some reason it didn’t register in my watch history and I couldn’t remember specifics as to find the video again.. was actually sad But I wrote about what you said in my journal this morning…. Started to get things done so that my tomorrow self would like me better…. Then the algorithm gave you the video again- liking and commenting so the algorithm will continue to do right by me Thank you for this video!
I don’t know where to start everything you have said in this video I’ve already applied in my life just from being me, I’m in the top 4 percentile of my grade I got o the gym 6 days a week I don’t have talking issues I mean I literally take classes for presentations to get better at it but now that I’m practically good at everything, I don’t know where to start I’m only 15 I need advice on where to take my life.
wow great video. timely and necessary just what I needed to hear. The story of your dad reminds me of my mom she is why Im where I am today and it is for her I will endeavor to live a life of purpose and not complacency because if there was one thing she never was... it was complacent.
I loved the plot twist until you mentioned he works at the Fed. 😢 Why did he turn to the darkest side of the dark side?... Especially after escaping communist China. Good tips, though.
A medical doctor should be careful about recommending a mindset and lifestyle which for many is going to lead to overload and burnout which is a *medical condition*...
i can't stand seeing all the phone zombies around me, i like the idea that by staying out of the herd and getting better everyday is like giving an invisible finger to them.
The most stressful thought that was spinning in my head and that always made me feel anxious was the lack of a structure of thoughts. And in my humble opinion it’s much worse when you have all the cards of trumps In your hand but don’t know how to use them rather than lack of information. It gives a deepest feeling of helplessness which slowly devours all life energy when you realize that with every second that passing by you losing time. This video literally explained me why i have everything in my life in that way how it is. And now I’m ready to get everything changed. Slowly, step by step to the bright future. Thank you, doctor.
I found tracking my time wasted is easier since I think I'm not wasting time until I see my track record. I find something Interesting and say This is cool let me learn more. Over time I can see them as distractions or simple entertainment. So it gives me more of an idea for my personal journey what I'm interested in and what is merely entertainment and worth my time ❤
I like this overall message but it doesn’t truly consider the limitations of self motivation and purpose without having an expanded sense of being and belonging. The rejection of the father is not only painful and limiting, but it also betrays our intrinsic capacity and desire to form part of a larger life story. We can always create great stories for ourselves regardless of our circumstances, but adverse childhood experiences often turn stories into long monologues we share only with a select few.
I like that you approach the topic in a way that could be applied to neurodivergent people too. The "reduce your comfort zone" + "increase your tolerance" slowly is way better than just ramping up expectations weekly (what you can see in a lot of videos). Most of the time boring things arent actually that boring if you omit some things from your life that give instant dopamine. Like just try to go sugar/sweets free for a week. See what happens.
Here 1 thing you can do that will improve your physical and mental state for good, and it takes less than 1 min to complete. However it might just be the hardest thing you've ever had to do. Delete TikTok.
