Hello and welcome to my channel! My name is Cody, and I am a guitar player from the southern United States -- Atlanta for anyone interested. For the longest time, this channel has been my personal page where, like many, I would share random videos with friends. Lately, I have embarked on a new project where I sit down with some of my musical friends and heroes to talk about this industry in which many of us work.
Along with interviews, I will also share some gear demos, play throughs, and other guitar related content. It would be wonderful if you took the time to "like" the content that you enjoy so that I can learn what you want more of, and while you are at it subscribe to my page!
You can also check out the links below to follow my other social media, and check out my band "The VaudeVillains":
Hi Cody! Which strings did you end up with? I have a 51 ES-5 as well and am still looking for the "perfect" set - I play a bit of jazz and mostly jump blues and fingerstyle/travis picking. At the moment I have 11 roundwounds on the guitar which feel kinda wonky. In general the guitar doesn't sound too bright and I am also looking for a set of strings that add some brightness. BTW: interesting to see that your guitar already has the newer dogear covers and not the older bakelite types which are different in shape (rounder) and colour (darker shade of black). Greetings from Austria, Michael
I have actually purchased the dream 65 myself. And it pretty much sounds close to what you have recorded. All the same, it was still insightful to listen to it.
The best way to listen to this is without watching it. scroll down to comments and just listen.. Most people want to listen with their eyes, and with a bias opinion. The only way to avoid that is to listen without watching. Take notes if you have to and check your results with a second or third time listen through.
I Love Tommy, one of the best Guitar players out there, in my book it's Tommy Emmanuel, Doyle Dykes, Brent Mason, Albert Lee, Doug Seven, Johnny Hiland, Jimmy Olander, Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Jerry Reed, Reggie Young, Ricky Skaggs, Vince Gill, James Burton, Steve Wainer and still so many others I can't name right now, and what I just named is not in any particular order.
Someone was selling one of these for $25 on Marketplace. I've been blown away by how good it sounds. Really great playing, too. Which channel were you using?
A succinct how-to guide for guitarists trying to copy different eras of American country music tremolo sounds. For someone like me who did not grow up in a country music household but discovered a love for it later in life after I picked up the axe **and** I happen to be a Luddite when it comes to gear...this video is everything I needed to get my feet wet. I wish I had seen this years ago! Thanks for making so many great videos.
Thirty eight seconds in, and this guy is already talking about, "Listen. This isn't clickbait. If you only came here for a fast and loose description then let's get that out of the way." For the record, I'm watching the entire video because I came here for a detailed personal breakdown of the difference from someone with an informed opinion. I just think it's worth pointing out how great - and honest - of a job you are doing with your channel. Why are ethically-minded RU-vid videomakers so rare?! If I have one "negative" comment it would be to mention for any novices getting into this sort of recording that using these tunings changes the tension on the neck and/or truss rod of the guitar. So if you are not one to do your own setups, then it is highly advisable to check with your technician/local string instrument repair person to make sure your instrument(s) are good to go before and after making the string change.
"My goal is bring you videos about gear you can actually get your hands on." Practical gear reviews for almost any player. What a novel concept in 2024.
Marvelous playing, crystalline tone, and first rate editing (the right side booping along to the "other guy" playing on the left). New favorite channel.
Not sponsored. Not hyper critical (does what it's advertised to do/"it's on me"). Clearly stated onscreen chyrons for settings. Calls out the obvious industry plant-ness without naming names. Instant subscriber here.
This tone is so good. I've been kicking around the idea of getting an Esquire, just nervous I'll miss the warmth of a tele neck at times. Is this with the tone rolled back halfway or so?
The Smooth side of the switch is the Tubescreamer (Bad Monkey) side. I'm assuming that you are using the Smooth mode because that's the way it looks in the video. It's the punch side that is the SD-1 side with asymmetrical clipping. A lot of people prefer the punch side of this pedal but it's nice to see you share some sounds and settings with the smooth side. It works better with strats and teles (helps to thicken up the single coils). The SD-1 side is better with Marshalls or humbuckers.. the boosted crunchy rock thing for example.
These old peaveys kick ass! I have a few for various reasons but mainly gig with a studio pro 40 with a JBL E-120 installed. It’s got a massive sound especially after the JBL swap
