I decided to grow a beard again in January, but I am having to use Viking Revolution, gray reducing beard wash to turn my beard brown so that I do not look 15 years older than I actually am. The first time I tried growing a beard was when I was only 30 years old, and it was Santa Claus white, not grey, but solid white. So, because of that I did not grow a beard for years until now. On the in between days when I am not using the grey reducing beard wash to turn it brown, I use a coconut butter based CoWash to clean the sweat and dirt from the day out of it, without washing the coloring out of it. I tend to use the coloring beard wash about every 3 days to maintain the colorr.
Any comments I get have been positive. I’m actually surprised how few people actually say something, not sure if that is good or bad, lol. I do like to joke with people that I now have more hair products than my wife, but honestly my beard has been such a confidence booster and my morning and evening care routines are a pick me up in my day.
I am the youngest in my workplace with the thickest beard. Yes I am genetically blessed but before finding this channel I knew my beard wasn’t at its best. But I found out your channel and crazy how better it has become. Thanks for all the powerful knowledge 🙏
There is nothing more masculine than having a beard. When I take care of my beard it makes me feel masculine. Ladies do their hair, their nails etc...to make them presentable to men. My wife likes my beard, and what I do with it makes me more presentable to her. Let's face it, the Viking digs have archeologically found that Viking men went to great lengths to keep their hair and beards stylish. They were conquerors. Can we do anything less?
it probably is but i would say it is gay not girly i use that word yes im not being offensive just saying cause the stereotype they are neat and tidy and and do the beauty routine hey i want it to grow some more
i was at the shavewr shop getting different beard oil and a comb today and the lady got some of the tester in the dripper emptied it and then let me have a sniff she said milkman is too strong in the bottle and it might turn me off the sent so i am not sure if she was correct or loopy but the milkman sandalwood comb is nice thou
i just paused the vid i would like to say when they say me beard is like zz top i smile and say thanks its a compliment to me zz top was awesome love their music so that is my mind set before you talk back to the vid now oh and milkman brand do you guys get that over there?
Second comment, because I made my first one halfway through the video and then made it to the end and had a second thiught: you did a carrier oil 101 series. Please also do a "Dan's Soapbox" series. You hint at a lot of things that bug you in a lot of videos, but I know a lot of us would enjoy a bunch of videos of Dan just slapping his desk and calling stereotypes out.
I really appreciate that! I have felt like these videos can be “cheap” because there isn’t much research or planning involved. However, I really do enjoy them and LOVE the conversations that emerge are unbelievable.
At a black and white level: Taking of your masculanine body is masculine. Taking care of your femanine body is femanine. Men and women use soap. Men and women use shampoo. Why is anything beyond that "girly" or femanine? But I get it. The number of people that talk about me having an amazing beard and then turning around and talking s4!T about the number of beard products I have or the routine are..... excessive. Which do you want?
What do you do with strands deep within the beard that get tangled and hard. I only have one or two of em but when I push my fingers through my hair they feel wierd so I plucked them out.
So I only started my beard journey 4 months ago. I’m 57 and asked my wife next time she was out.to buy me a blow dryer of my own. Humbling? Could’ve been but I stood fast and refused to have my man card revoked. Rock what you got guys .
Patience and healthy habits are the most important. However, you can try the growth stimulator oil from the company below. It’s all natural and legit Doctor Nicks= www.doctornicks.com/danc * DANC = 15% off
No one is ever happy until we go back to the caveman days and our knuckles are dragging and our beards just look like hair glued to our faces. This channel and community got me out of those insecurities and anyone who discourages someone from this because of their insecurities is a coward. Grow on fellas...
Great Video Dan i agree 110 percent it is them being insecure keep the great videos coming Someone said a negative thing to me the other day and i actually asked them what is wrong with Growing a Beard 😃
Nice topic. My answer is: No. When men comment on my beard I challenge them to grow one themselves. So many times they tell they would like to try but are not allowed bij their wife or girlfriend. That's what I call girly! I am very open about taking care of the beard so men and women understand that having a beard is more then not shaving, but a choice and proof of self confidence and taking care of yourself. My beard is a boost for me. Never without again!
That’s a great approach to look at it! It’s likely true, but it’s interesting to think about why that’s an okay thing to point out but pretty much everything else is not
I’m a fairly new beardsman (6 mos) and I’m confused and need some counsel. My beard is about an inch, maybe 1.5 inches, below my chin and I’m planning to grow it A LOT longer. I’ve been using butter, not balm, and I haven’t been doing anything to straighten. I have a lot of flyaways and no idea what to do to flatten them-and don’t want to trim them, given my goals. What do I use to flatten those flyaways? Balm, butter, heated brush, hairdryer???? Or do I just let ‘em fly until they grow out more?
Got you! - Wash in shower daily - oil on a damp beard after shower - wait 3-5 minutes - heat from a heated brush and/or blowdryer with comb or brush - balm after optional for styling - butter at night
Ummm … the Vikings had beard care products and styling tools and I’d pay good money to watch one of these modern self-proclaimed chest-thumping ‘alpha males’ (who are anything *but*) call a Viking girly.
Wait the bearded guy shaved his beard because someone told him that it was girly useing all thing's beard related. Who cares right better that then to shave it down to a short stubble because what happens then said people will find something else to focus on and the once bearded guy will be unhappy inside and wished he kept it. The standard remark i actually get like every time i see a certain OAP Mr original i call him is let me give you a trim i tell said member of my local community why would I want that a trim it goes against every thing I stand for a longish wild beard ( you really shouldn't care what others think ). Like I said before what's the point people are going to judge you beard or not
Being from Louisiana and living on the West Coast, God knows I've gotten the Duck Dynasty term alot- and while I certainly respect and appreciate the Robertsons, I am NOT that kind of person- and mine looks way more taken care of! Oh, and great trivia, the drummer from ZZ Top is the only one who shaves and his name is Frank Beard!
I've been in law enforcement for 20 years and growing my beard for the last five or so. I certainly have to be confident- because some people think its unprofessional. Of course, that's just the haters, because alot of people tell me that they can tell I'm well-groomed and that my beard looks better than other peoples' because of the care I give my beard- and that's not feminine, being groomed and caring for your looks / etc is something that's not owned by a specific gender.
I just think like a lot of ‘manly’ trends, caring for beard in our contemporary time and historic memory, is currently on the latter end of acceptance culturally? Way Way back in the day, high heels and pink were masculine things. Now they are not. Trends are funny that way
I’ve have never had a girly comment.women say I can tell you take of your beard or it fits you or you wear it well. Men ask me do you trim it yourself or who’s is your barber or how do you get it to look like that what products do you use. I have never had a negative comment.
Outstanding! Your comment that is was the opposite because only men have beards is brilliant! You described yourself as being deliberately different, but you still are in no way a “slob”. At first, I thought the issues of products, tools, and routine was due to grooming in public. For those too young to have had the pleasure of “77 Sunset Strip”, there is “Kookie, Kookie, lend me your comb” to address that. Otherwise, what matters is what you called caring for yourself and being purposeful. Those with Military or First Responder experience know that care for one’s person and, as the Brits say, one’s “kit” is essential beyond question. You talked about confidence and insecurity. I’d add integrity and self-respect. It seems to me that this started with comments that were not asked for. I think there is too much to consider for a standard response other than saying nothing, and certainly even more to think about before acting as if the comment is valid. After all, such comments say much more about who is making the comment than what the comment itself is about.
I genuinely love the way you intake information, process, rationalize, and add your own flare in such a beneficial way. Thank you for the friendship and continued interactions Leo. You are a very positive influence in my life 🤝
All the time I get you are worse than a girl! I love it and embrace it! I even go as far as braiding my own beard! Now that's taking care of your hair but imagine if we didn't do anything, the thought that people have that beards are dirty would be true!
“Taco meat on the chest!” 🤣🤣 I gotta use that one in conversation! 😂🤣 But yeah I whole heartedly agree with you on this one Dan. We are manly men with our more purposeful beards and those negative people/comments are just insecure and 💯 jealous. 👊🤘
