Aweome video! Thank you helps a ton since I'm about to work on a '72. How much travel should 1969 KO front forks have? Mine moves maybe an inch from extended to compressed. Not that fun to ride when it gets rough :)
@@gerardkenny8408 from many hours and years of buying parts, I've been able to ensure I get the correct parts and high quality Parts if they're replacement parts
Just inherited one of these in GPA's estate. It's all there except the cluth handle. 😅 trying to get this clean to see if it'll run, just got the new battery set up, lights are on, won't fire. Here we go!!! Wish me luck!!😂😂😂 but I'm very grateful you made this video!!!💪💪🙏🙏🙏🙏
Nice video, question though- I have 2 outlets on my Ninja ZX6R tank, do I force air through the gas pump hole or the other and can I do this with a bicycle pump? Thanks:)
Is there a Replacement Carburetor Available to fit a 1971 K2 Mini Trail? Or a Manifold to adapt the 1972 and Up Carburetor's to the original 1971, 50cc, engine, and still fit between the fuel tank and the engine? Or do you have a Rebuildable Original for sale? Or if you don't maybe you know someone who does?
Really appreciate this video man! Its been 20 years since i had my z50 working. It's a 79 and i had no idea about the different rod lengths. Paid 2 different people to get this thing back on the road, one kept it for 3 years and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Took it to a guy that lives down the street. He was working on another one when i dropped it off. The asshole needed a carb for the other one and ended up buying a cheap POS off amazon that woukdnt work on the other one, so he threw MINE ON IT and gave it to the people as "REPAIRED" and stuck the new piece of shit on mine, which it still didnt fit, so he took the damn upper engine mounting bolt out to tip the engine down a little so it'd fit. I took it back immediately. I had given him a brand new enerpac hydraulic pump($600 dollar value). He said he put a new jug and piston kit in it, but couldn't get it running. I tore into it myself finally, found that not only was there no new jug or piston but that he'd also stuck the thing back together 180° off on the timing! Im getting older and have a disease thats measing up my spine and id REALLY like to ride this thing again before i cant anymore. This thing used to ride in the back of my cj5 because i had a broken gas guage and ADHD which is a TERRIBLE combination! It saved my bacon so many times and because i always had it with me, i used it so much more because i had it when the mood took me. If i cant get this thing running soon, im going to sell it and buy a cheap chinese copy. I know how disgusting that sounds. I woukd have beat my ass for saying that 20... shit, even 10 years ago, but that was a ton of health and a long time ago. I dont have the income anymore to afford a real one, so if i cant fix the one i have... 🤷 Sorry for the huge comment! Wasnt my intention. Its an old video and apparently i needed to vent a bit. I dont know if youre still doing this 3 years later or not, but if you are, i may indeed need some help with this. I dont have a ton of money, but i have a parts bike and a bunch of other misc. parts if i needed to bother you for help. Ive tried the "someone local" thing and t no avail! Kinda running out of time and options.
i just finished rebuilding a 72 Z50 and im getting about 50-60PSI with a brand new cylinder and top end. will have to preform a leak down to see where the leak is coming from
The top end kit works for all 70cc they are made for short rod engines like this the Honda 90cc big bore kit also works because the stroke is the same just the bore.
readjusting the gap timing. when he turns the flywheel, then closes the gap and re-tightens, it changes the time when the gap opens. then he looks at it with the timing light to see if its correct. if its not, he tries a different point on the flywheel until its correct.
About to start rebuilding one myself. Did you just paint grey over all the chrome? Is that more of a budget thing instead of getting everything rechromed?
I bought one of these off of you from Ebay about 2 weeks ago for my SL70 . I got to watch your RU-vid to insalling the coils . I have not improved the weak spark at all . I just going back watching this vid to make sure I did the install correctly and I did . I then doing some test on the coils after soldering to condensor . Here what I came up on 200 m Ohm's with points closed : Gr wire 3.0 , Bk wire 4.2 , Br wire 2.9 , Gr/R wire 2.4 . Points open : Gr wire 2.9 , Bk wire 3.2 , Br wire 2.0 , Gn/R 1.8 . These readings was at connector . The meter was grounded to flywheel and all three wires solder to Condenser . Are these reading with in specs. . I do realize there maybe small amount of discrepancies between from one meter to another . Thanks Jeff
The person before who positioned the shift arm incorrectly also left out the washer between the clutch basket nut and the tabbed lock washer. That washer is marked "out side" that that writing faces the nut side
I have a '73 Honda XR-75. Recently purchased. What engine oil do you recommend. I live in florida....just run the engine once a month. Thanks............Sal
You don't have to grind the Z50 mounts because the bolts screw into the metal thread and the mounting points on the coil itself are metal. So simply bolting it in place grounds it perfectly.
Josh, Great video series !! I'm in the process of adding that same Lifen motor to my K0. I was stumped by what to do with the 2 yellow wires coming from the motor. (Video #4) You have straightened that out for me now, and I'm so relieved, as it was driving me nuts. Just have to order that Trail Buddy extra harness that you showed, and hopefully I'm good to go. I am now subscribed, and hope you have many more videos to show in the future, there's always something that needs attention on these bikes. Regard's Mark
Josh, one more question, can you give me the make and model # of the 12V battery you use in this video. I can't seem to find one that fits in my 3" x 3" battery box. Thanks,,,
