Hi , I recently received a Sony handycam DCR DVD105 from my family but the screen is dead. Do you know how I can fix it ? which type of LCD screen I can use to replace it ? Thank you in advance
@WaybackRewind

You need to find the exact same model as the one you have and then carefully disassemble it and swap the screens. It's very tedious and likely to fail, so I really don't recommend it. I did it just to see if I could, and it kind of works but not 100%. Thanks for watching.

hello, you may need to correct the video title :) another interesting fact with this model (or another very close to this one, but in silver velvet) they offered an optional PCM coder. and this possible feature let imagine frank zappa about what could have been considered as the first audio streaming service. he imagined a service using phone line coupled to a modem itself coupled to a betamax with PCM option, and sending PCM music title you can have choosen over the line, and the betamax recording the stream in real time. was definitely an interesting concept. i don't remember where i've read that, probabely somewhere on internet .

I have bought a 16Tb pen drive from LeNovo, they didn't show on my Macintosh and there was NO way to format them BUT they did show on my friend's PC and could be formatted . I did Format them ExFAT which should have shown them on my Mac but they didn't. I haven't figured out exactly how they are able to trick the computer into thinking it's 16 TB without generating errors, but I can 100% guarantee it's fake. Some day 16TB drives will exist and by then the scammers will be selling them as 500TB drives. Thanks for watching.

@@WaybackRewind I don't know how it was possible that it did seem to work on my friend's PC but it certainly DIDN'T work on my Mac. What I don't understand is the reason why of the scam. I returned it via Aliexpress without much of a fuss and the money (being a good customer) was credited to me immediately as I shipped the item. There will be some customers who don't complain and just take the loss but the vaste majority will complain and get a refund which must cost them money ( the shipping back at least) so I cannot understand the scheme .

This is a great travel and nature camera. In it's price range there's absolutely nothing like it. Small, lightweight, excellent zoom and waterproof. It's only limitation is the sensor size, which obviously struggles in low light, but lately machine learning based noise reduction software has become extremely good which allows this camera to keep offering wonderful shots, even better than when it was released. I use DxO PureRaw and it really does wonders with high noise images from the FZ300.

I was happy with my new camcorder but I thought that my cousin's one was better because they could play back the tapes directly on their VCR just using the tape adapter, while we have to hook ours up to the TV and play the tape on the camera, but later I discovered that ours had better picture and sound quality and was able to record up to 2 hours per tape, while theirs only could record 30 minutes, and the tapes and camera itself were smaller and lighter, so I was glad that my parents bought a Hi-8 instead of a VHS-C.

Sure, what are your questions? I also bought three to get one working one. Thanks.

@@WaybackRewind I just stated my journey with the l2 this year and would like to know, how long could my l2 last if I use it regularly? So far it’s given me mild problems like the lens having a miscommunication with the sensor and the digital effects draining the battery really fast. Will the capacitors still rot even if I use it weekly? And are there any repair men in the states that could repair it if it goes bad. I’ve had a hard time finding someone.

Those are excellent questions. My battery drains very fast as well, even though it's only 4 years old. I need to find a solution for that. Lenses do tend to go bad, but you can maybe use the lenes from the bad ones? As for the capacitors, I don't know if there is a way to make them last longer. Maybe being in a cool place helps. As for repairs I had my A1 repaired, but that was 30 years ago. Most of the people with those skills are retired. I think you have to just accept that at some point these cameras are gone. Like the A1, none of them work at this point. Thanks for watching.

@@WaybackRewind ahh oh well. Better to let them burn out than fade away. Also shout out to your excellent xl h1 video. Really informative stuff.

Modern cellphones are dramatically better. There is no comparison. I like old cameras for nostalgia, but technology has improved tremendously in the past 20 years. But for those of us old enough to remember when a video camera and recorder weighed 20 pounds or didn't even exist, these cameras were life changing. Thanks for watching.

I wish I never sold my PC55! It was such a fun little camera, i prefered using it over my better quality HC96. Are you familiar with the larger 3CCD PC1000? I wish i had it!

I am struggling to find a working PC55 and you sold yours, lol. I was not familiar with the PC1000. I probably need to get one and try it out. I doubt that it will look dramatically better though. Thanks for watching.

@WaybackRewind The HC96 & PC1000 had surprisingly great looking standard def footage! My HC96 footage holds up to this day. Sharp & colorful for SD footage

The PC1000 is still available for sale online. I have 2 of them. Great little camera.

I looked at a couple on eBay. Unfortunately, it uses that same crazy battery that is impossible to find working.
