Garmin Zumo 396 LMT-s With the appropriate power adaptor and mount. Had to make a plate to mount it to the Nav Bar. It's a few years old now, and I'm not sure Id buy another. There are lots more options these days with apps etc.
Yeah, impossible to have everything. With lighterweight, and more power, the maintenance intervals shorten, with better suspension, the price increases, its all a tradeoff.
they are great lil bikes and go anywhere. On the rear sussers, i know you know they need doing but don't wait, friend of mine got bucked over the bars and had a busted nose and elbow, 8 weeks off riding all because he was putting off doing what he knew he had to...
Nice, Yeah, I'd just bought my T7 before the Rally came out . Still love the T7 great bike, but for less hard core than the Rally. As you know, the Rally is more of a freedom machine especially when exploring Solo.
@@malybullg Yeah, sounds good. My Email used to be in my profile, but I dont know what RU-vid has done with it. Not sure I want to post it here though. Sick of trying to be scammed. Maybe Facebook is a way to get in contact.
Awesome video.. Hello dear, I watch your channel videos everyday. Your video is very good, but due to some problem in your channel (not SEO done) your video views are very low. If you solve these problems, your channel's video views will increase and your channel will grow. I can help if you want.
You have summed up the Rally perfectly. I downsized from the Africa Twin Adventure Sports last November to the Rally and I haven't stopped smiling. This little bike has opened up so much more for me ie trail riding etc. She's a more than capable bike which covers trails and long distance road riding. I shall be upgrading the front and rear suspension in the near future which will set me back £2000 ($4000 AUD) but it s still cheaper than getting a KTM or a Husky. Anyway great video, looking forward to seeing more of your adventures on the Rally. Subscribed 👍🏻
Yeah, It's an awesome bike , better than I was expecting. Thanks for the comment and sub, I'll check your channel out, and subbed.👍 I will upgrade the suspension as well eventually.
I’m I’m the same boat mate. Traded in my ATAS for a rally. I tried learning off road on the big twin. All I learnt was how to pick it up. Not looked back since. I can now go off exploring (as much as you can in Kent UK) without the worry of getting stuck under my bike or bogged down without a hope of getting out. So much more fun and freedom. Just bought a gs1250 rally purely as a road bike. It’s fantastic. But if I had to sell one of them it’d be the GS. You can’t beat the little Honda for smiles per miles. Cheap as chips too in comparison. Cheers,
Thanks, yeah the tailbag is a Nelson Rigg RG-1055 Trails End Adventure Tail Bag. $219.95 from MxStore +Shipping. Theres a second zipper that lets it expand to bigger than the way I had it in the video. Not waterproof though. Cheers .
They're a great little bike Jethro, and a great compliment to the T7 (assuming you keep it). They're ability for eating miles on the road is terrific - for a small capacity engine. Fuel eccon - Yep ridicules! I was still getting 30.9 kays per litre after 17,900 kays. Amazing. And yep they get up and go - once over 5000 rpm hey. And yep, you can pick them up without blowing out your back (got bulging disc also) That was a great look into the Rally, really enjoyed it - I got all nostalgic 😅 Enjoy it mate, look forward for following your travels on RU-vid 😎👍
Thanks for the great Comment Phil, appreciate it. Following your travels as well. Was up your way a couple of months back, actually went bush in our SUV's looking for an old Farm where my Missus side rellos grew up. Couldn't find it, but plenty of tracks out Bellingen way. 👍
Ditto getting on and buldging discs 😂 I'm even thinking sbout something lighter as even the picking up the 250 loaded is a struggle in some situations, but I just don't know what. Enjoy the little red beast you'll have a ball. 👍
look at the new GPX 250 4 stroke, it is air cooled and uses a xr250 engine that has been tuned up to give 30hp - it weighs 106kg and has proper suspension etc - long service intervals too due to the engine 🙂 5k in UK so i bet they are 8.5-9.5 in oz?
@@ogasi1798 All I could find was the FSE250E, but its made by GPX in the States. Quotes 24HP and doesnt state maintenance intervals. It mentions the XR motor and no shims. 108kg dry weight. So I guess this is what you're talking about. Impressive, but a bit of a mystery at the moment. And theres this. THIS MOTORCYCLE IS A COMPETITION MODEL ONLY AND IS NOT MANUFACTURED FOR, NOR SHOULD BE USED ON PUBLIC STREETS, ROADS OR HIGHWAYS. THE USE OF THIS MOTORCYCLE SHOULD BE LIMITED TO PARTICIPATION IN SANCTIONED COMPETITION EVENTS UPON A CLOSED COURSE AND SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR GENERAL OFF-ROAD RECREATIONAL RIDING. IT IS INTENDED FOR EXPERIENCED RACERS ONLY, NOT FOR BEGINNERS
What I actually don't like is the fast forward and the speed. In your video and in real life. To me it's actually not useable. Going 20kmh on a motorcycle even offroad as you did is often too slow, doesn't make fun to ride and to record. To me it actually doesn't work in real life scenarios also on a motorcycle it's too often losing track. Good video, but when you mention 4k, 30 fps and zoom level you should also mention 2 times fast forward or 4 times ;) that people are aware of that (in case they are 'blind' 😆)
Point taken, I assumed people would notice, yeah but you're right, you can't go very fast especially where there are obstacles for the drone to avoid. Yeah, it's not much fun going slow, either. I find it more productive to use the drone as a tripod shot, and ride through the shot. But it's all a hassle when you're out trying to enjoy a ride, you can't just turn it on like the GoPro. One thing that I wish the drone had was cruise control like the mini 4, for high up grand shots, like itchy boots uses. Thanks for the comment. 👍
Hi Jethro, thanks for the video, good job. I have a mini 3 as my first drone, had it for about a year. It's been a great learning opportunity, & I still am learning! I did think the active track would be better as I am using it for m-cycling/outback trips on my DR650 but it has not been great. It is ok at slow speeds, up to about 35kmh. All in all though, the drone has been great. I am however thinking about upgrading or adding a DJI Air3 to my kit as the tracking seems much better & the waypoint flight function is useful for my purposes. Anyway, I am heading back out to the Kimberley next week on the m-bike with the Mini3 so will see how well it goes out that way, then decide if I'll go for the Air3. Thanks again. Cheers.
Your Welcome. Yeah, the mini 3 is a bit limiting, with its tracking speed max. I think the ultimate drone for motorcycles is the Skydio 2. (This could be outdated info now) But I dont think we sell it in this country. Seems to have a better tracking speed, and handles obstacles a bit better. Having said that the DJIs are better for the quality of the video and photos they produce. And built in features. I've experimented with drone as a tripod, (Just hover it somewhere for a good shot) and the mini 3 is quite useful for that. Can't say I know much about the air 3. Yeah 2 features I wish the mini 3 had is normal flight waypoints, and cruise control, just like the mini 4 had when it come out. The manufacturers always keep the upgrade path open. 🤣
@@jethrowingnut13 Yes, I have looked at the Skydio3 & it is a ripper with the GPS beacon/tracking. Unfortunately availability is the issue & I understand that they are no longer going to provide retail drones, just focus on government & commercial operators. Pity. It would be a massive bonus to have waypoint flight option as an update to Mini 3 . Anyway, I think I'll keep the Mini 3 & pick up a Air3 soonish. Cheers.
@@jethrowingnut13 no probs. I had a crash three or four years ago and stuffed my shoulder. Dam tree jumped out in front of me. lol. So after three years finally got the courage to get back onto a MTB. My son had an e-mtb so I gave it a go. It's great, to able ride again with stuffed knees from 30 years of soccer etc. without knee pain. The thing is, without an emtb, i would be doing what you said, watching youtube videos. Great video, keep it up.
@@marcolucchini8173 Thanks Marco, I'm glad your back out riding again. Yeah at 64, I look at certain things on the trail, and weigh up the recovery time versus the couple of seconds of "wow I did it" , and err on the side of caution, so I can keep riding. It's great to get some positive feedback a lot of work goes into these videos, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Best bike I've owned, its a heavy beast compared to a 250, but once its rolling it's very manouverable, and I forget I have luggage on it half the time.
77 years old, 2 heart attacks, 3 stents, done PBP 3 times, did last 200k under my own power when I was 70, last unmotorized 100k at 75. Then put motor on and did a 240k, did a 120k last week, aiming at another 200k before end of June. Lazy bugger, am I? Away and boil your head.
I do not own an ebike simply because I do not like to overcome every little challenge with ease :) That said, I'm quite far from being 64 and I do not have any serious conditions. So, if you're having fun with your ebike, then happy cycling and don't bother listening naysayers. Just please remember that it is still a bicycle not a motorcycle and you're amongst cyclists and not on a highway with motorists 👍
Definitely . Yeah they can be dangerous on the road, car drivers are not expecting bikes to be approaching in certain circumstances. I definitely take that into consideration. Safest way to ride on the road is to assume you're invisible.
I got a heavily discounted Cube Stereo in October last year. NH winter coming. We always go to Glentress in May. I will do 3 times as much biking with my emtb. I will still take my acoustic to let my friends try it
Ebikes has opened up this world for me. I wouldn't be able to ride the distances I do without the assist due to back injuries. I usually eco so I get a great workout. I get the occasional sneer but most conversations are out of curiosity.
I found the drivetrain on my Merida e160 was rubbish if used on shared paths. My 10 & 11T were gone in 100 km. The 34T front sprocket is too small and cant be upgraded. My new Cube is 36T and has not missed a beat so far (6 months).
By far it’s better to buy as you have because I have mine set up as a kit . Rear drive but because of brace and bolts holding the rear wheel in place the time taken to fix a flat is considerably longer. I will also go purpose built bike.👌
Hi Shane thanks for the comment. Yeah no dramas with flats on mine. In the first half hour of use, a stick snapped the valve stem clean off. Lucky I always carry spares and a pump. Well have to go for a ride one day. Cheers 👍
Thankyou for the great comment. Na I'm in NSW, but a lot of the footage is from the Ballarat area, as both of my Sons became Mexicans. ( can I say that these days 😯) So we visit the Grandkids etc quite often. Cheers.👍
Yeah, they're a great camera, but fragile, no way around it I guess to get the 360 view. Yeah, that was my second set of stickys, I broke one in the garage. 🤣 But it did its job.
That's a great looking DR650 at the end of the video and the rider looks extremely competent....now get cracking on last weeks Bridle Track 3 dayer video😂.
Here in the northern hemisphere, our motorcycling season is on hold for a few winter months so I'm living vicariously through RU-vid videos such as this. Thank you for sharing. Gorgeous scenery. I'd love to visit your part of the world to experience it up close in person, but that's probably not going to happen, so I appreciate your videos.
Thanks for the comment glad you enjoyed it. You're more than welcome. I'm pretty lucky where I live and in most places in Australia. Sure we have extremes, but never Ice on the road in my area, so we can ride all year round. If anything it's the summer that can get uncomfortable here. 🥵
I bought a G310GS for my 60th birthday. I'm semiretired and I want to replace the hiking, mountain biking and kayaking of my youth with motorcycle camping. My goal is to keep the same ultralight camping and add only a generous tool roll when I take my ultralight camping show on the road. I fit everything into a 66 liter duffel. I hope to post more videos of my moto-adventures but so far I only posted one solo overnight trip from last summer.
Still love all those other things you mentioned. Just bought an electric mountain bike, it has opened up a whole other world of MTBing. Especially closer to home, where there's no off-roading opportunities in the immediate area for motorbikes. Love it.😁
I enjoyed that , great info and entertaining I have the mini 1 and Mavic pro you are game flying in the closed in bush , well done . Pete Western Australia
Hi to name a couple , TT350 , Kawasaki 175 , all up over 20 bikes a real mixed bag from CB 250 to HD soft tails . My all time favorite was a Yamaha SR 500 brought new in QLD in the early 80's and rode to Cairns to the topo rally in the Atherton tablelands.
Hi Jethro , I feel you are of the same mind as me I am 64 and have a similar channel , I do a lot of motorcycle camping plus other stuff , I have Subed to help you get the magic 1000 keep the shiny side up and best of luck with the channel . Pete Western Australia
Hi Peter, thanks for the sub, I've been at 1K subs and 4000 Watch hours but not at the same time.🤣🤣 I subbed you as well and I'll check your stuff out. 👍
@@jethrowingnut13 I guess I got the right guy 😃 I watched a video of your game and I really enjoyed it. I thought it was really funny and I appreciate the heart with which it was made, what with it being a whole family affair. My respect to you sir. It’s nice to know Down Under Dan took that gold dust and had a wickedly successful life with a beautiful wife and family. Also, I appreciate the effort it took to make the bike look out of control when you don’t solve the puzzle correctly. I sent you a message on Facebook which is how I got here but I don’t think you check it often and I figured I’d try my luck here.
@@Dsk192000 Yep Down Under Dan here. Thankyou for the kind words. Unfortunately the gold dust was only in the game, but I have no complaints with my Family and life. 😀
Would be interesting to see how the litchi app goes with the basic remote. A pilot version for the mini 3 pro is in beta testing phase. It has been shown to track be trees etc and catch up. Danstube shows this well.
