Travel and Aviation... For me they have always gone hand in hand... and before I go on a trip, I am not only excited about the adventure which awaits once I arrive.. I am excited about the flight too! its all part of the Adventure!
Interesting Vid for me as an Ozzie that lived and worked for 18 years in Asia, 13 of them out of BKK base WE HAVE to talk BEFORE any more trips to Asia so I can give you som heads up MY perceptiveradar pickedup on the frustration of lackof comms due to not spendinga fortune on Roaming fees ( solution is VIBER) email me an dI will give you the codes etc FREE .Big take away is whatever mic your are using works 100% compared to ven many other vloggers . Tip watch out for Touts and scamers in PUDONG airport few dreadful tales from mate there in last 24 hours Look after your lass as also preceive like me not under the thumb but the whole fist :) Enjoyable REAL vids and so refreshing keep up the good work when back in oz the beers are on me safe travels bloke
Great video, Luke. It looks like the service was excellent especially for a relatively short flight. I’m planning to check out Thai airways early next year. Your video has me excited for the trip!
@@mba0005 As mentioned one of the better flights I’ve had in recent memory.. I am also planning/trying to work out a way I can fly them long haul next year. Glad the video has you pumped up to fly with them! Cheers for the comment Michael!
Hello Luke I hope you and Cindy are pretty fine.I really enjoyed this video from Bangkok. All these places give us a small but strong part of Thailand's culture.Great sight views and lovely camera work.See you on the next mate.Cheers from Athens.
Hey Yannis! Yes we are both well! I am currently in Tokyo, Japan and Cindy is staying with family for a little bit longer. Back to Aus next week… I appreciate the comment mate! 👍
To be honest Jetstar is not improving much. They pretty much downgraded from their 787 to an a321neo to go to Bali. They dont even have tv seats anymore.
Adelaide to Bali was just the A320s so I never got to experience the Jetstar 787s… so I could see how it’s a downgrade for you… but for myself it’s obviously slightly better than the old a320s.
Haha yeah few of my mates have been there done that… I’m not into burnouts.. but rather ride bikes on tracks… so if you have a good track then I’m down
I recall several instances of very rough turbulence where I looked up from my book, smiled reassuredly to those around me, and resumed reading the same page over and over while desperately wishing for smoother air.
We did Brisbane to Bali 6 hours on a 737. Yeh that's probably as far as I'd like to take a 737 lol. Especially as the only hot food option was 2 minute noodles and we couldn't have a second cup of coffee because apparently the Hostie couldn't find any more coffee 😂
So sorry your trip was disrupted by food poisoning. I had that recently and it was no fun. I hope you bounced back quickly. Your hotel and beach area looked gorgeous. Nice to have the pool, and beach nearby. What a peaceful place to enjoy and relax!
Yeah it was a pain… especially having to stay indoors… it only got more fun after this point… I think a week later we came down with a virus but it’s all good now. Cheers!
Great video, Luke! It's great the SQ still made sure to give good service during the flight despite the patch of turbulence that delayed things. Sorry you got sick afterwards. Hope you felt better soon. I'm planning to try out SQ next year and head to Thailand. I'm looking forward to the experience thanks to your reviews.
Great video, Luke! Singapore seems to always have great service which is so nice. Sorry about all the turbulence at the beginning of the flight. I'm everyone was a bit on edge after what happened on the other flight with the severe turbulence. Glad it smoothed out eventually. The food looked great on the flight and how nice to have Wifi as well! Hope you enjoyed your time in Thailand.
Thanks Phil! I appreciate that mate. Currently in Hefei, China… about a 2 hour high speed train ride west of Shanghai at the moment… with the lady and her family. Good times 👍
Watching from New Zealand, your awesome video here of Thai Airways A320 from Phuket to Bangkok., great to see that flight crew provide that refreshment snack for the passengers and drinks. Happy travels for 2024 Luke👍✈
Hi Luke nice to see you well mate.Lovely video with Thai's A320 flight from Phuket to Bangkok.I have only flown once with Thai Airways back at 90's from Bangkok to Athens in a brand new only 4 months old 777-300 plane.Back then their service was outstanding and lots of people were flying with them.Later they stopped flying directly to Athens. Most of the Europeans were flying with Thai and Singapore through Bangkok or Singapore to Australia and New Zealand.Later came the middle east carriers like Emirates Qatar with more low competitive prices and that changed.Have a nice time mate.Cheers from Athens
Haha… I was well for about a week Yannis! Long story but you’ll see in a few videos time 😆 🤦♂️ Awesome to hear that story mate and glad they still have 777 in their fleet...I didn’t know they were such a popular choice prior to the middle eastern carriers.. linking Europe and Oceania… very interesting to learn! Cheers from Hefei, China!
The worst experience for me was on a flight from Phoenix, Arizona to San Antonio, Texas in June of 1994. During the last 15 or 20 minutes or so, we hit much turbulence on final approach. We dropped at least 4 times and people screamed! It was bumpy all the way in including when touching down on the runway. It was pretty nerve racking!
Left about a week ago… for the whole 8 days we were there it only rained once or twice… apart from that hot and sunny. I’d say depends on your situation… if you’re with family/kids… there is a fair you can check out. There is a food market in the evenings. During the day you can check out patong or the other beaches like kata or Karon (these are a fair distance away). If your solo or like to go out… check out patong (Bangla road) 😆 it’s worth seeing. Anyways, all the best and enjoy your trip.
Not initially but I had some crazy headaches and it did get rid of that… mind you this was a couple of days later after it started. I appreciate the recommendation.
I don’t have kids so I wouldn’t know what makes something completely kid friendly… I’d say you may have a hard time keeping them entertained for 10 hours… I’d go plane and have the trip over on 50 minutes to an hour.
Hi Luke.Kamala beach hotel would be more appropriate to be called Kamala beach hospital for you and Cindy. The worst thing that could happen to a traveller happened to you guys.Best wishes to both of you.The place over there by the way looks really nice although for me looks pretty familiar because all the Greek islands and many beach places all over my country look like this.As I always tell to myself and others best places are by the sea.Maybe it's because I was born and raised in an island and my genes are full of salt water 😂.I hope you had better time in other places mate.Cheers to you and Cindy from a still hot Athens.
😆 yeah just about Yannis! Yeah wouldn’t be anything special for a Greek definitely. Because of this, do you have particular islands you prefer to travel to avoid the flock of tourist? Cheers Yannis! All the way from Bangkok!
Sounds like a tough week, I’m sure Singapore Airlines appreciate you not put them on blast, they wouldn’t want any more headlines. Strongly suggest mega dosing on probiotics pre travel to Indonesia and Thailand :)
That it was haha! I have never actually had an issue with food and getting sick overseas… I think the last time I had food poisoning… I may have been a kid 😆 but that is a good recommendation that I’ll definitely consider on future trips! Thanks Kara!
I love SQ Service and their aircraft Also price point for a legacy carrier can at times be much cheaper or just a tad more expensive than some of the so called LCC when you add in meals FF points luggage etc and for a tiny bit extra the peace of mind if changing flights or dates etc Re Phuket ( shudder) watch out for the Russian Mafia mate they have taken over the place Taiwan I love especially EVA air also 787.10and much better food than even SQ But the weirdest safety demo I have ever seen Happy and safe trvels to you both . Tongue in cheek a bit sq wing slighty better looking than some of the Scoot 787 s eh Cheers
Yeah just got out of Phuket yesterday.. up in Bangkok at the moment.. way better up here.. was keen to check out Phuket but I don’t see myself returning. Cheers phil! All the best
Great video, Luke! Sorry to see the 717 fading away. The engines in the back are loud but music to us avgeek’s ears. 😊 The upside to having the engines in the back is the front is very quiet. I enjoyed my visit to Hobart many years ago. Hope you enjoyed your trip as well.
Thanks Michael! Yeah a mate did mention that if you sit right at the front it’s awfully quiet and an odd feeling. Hobart was great, definitely a place I’d like to return to. Thanks for the comment and all the best!
Great Review Luke, impressed you got this one out on the go! Still looks like a solid experience on SIA. Be interested to see your next review to Phuket is like to see whether the significant premium over Jetstar and Air Asia is really worth it for SEA short haul! I’m Heading up there next week but was shocked how expensive SQ was so couldn’t justify it at over $1000 each way for one of the 4 daily Perth to Singapore flights for the dates I wanted. Settled for Scoot Plus for $640 which was only marginally more than economy with no inclusions so I’m very curious to see what poor man’s business class is like!
Hey Stephen! Yeah trying to pump them out on the go with this trip… learned from my mistake last year. Much harder to edit when it’s been weeks/months.. better being fresh in the mind. Thankfully as I paid $705 for the 2 legs - ADL-SIN-HKT it ate into the cost a bit… not too sure what the one way direct would be on its own but I’ll definitely considering chatting about that. $1k is bloody expensive!!! My Mrs Cindy even just bought a flight from Shanghai to Adelaide (Via SIN) for around $800… Ohhh yeah I couldn’t fly Scoot economy again unless it was for a video and I was trying to put myself through the trenches 😆 Keen to see that one for sure! Cheers for the comment mate! 👍
Hello Luke how are you doing mate.I am happy that a new trip adventure has started for you.Beautiful plane that 787-10.I have never flown on a 787 but I am always amazed of how quiet that plane is even on take off with the throttles up and the amazing wing flexibility.See you on the next one mate, cheers from pretty hot Athens(almost 40 degrees already)
Hey Yannis I am well mate, hope all is well over in Athens. Yeah they are interesting planes… lots of hydraulic noises and always love seen the wing flex as much as they do on the 787s. 40! Wow… happy with the average of 30 where I am currently in Thailand mate. Cheers 👍
I’ve never flown Malaysia in a long haul sense… possibly will give them a try one day. Nice mate, I’ll be in Japan in a few weeks.. first time so looking forward to it.
The 10 weekly flights to SIN is only seasonal for southern summer. Come autumn / winter, they go back to 7 weekly. Last time I flew SQ from ADL was in 2013 in the A330! It's so bloody expensive to fly international from ADL though. So for the price you paid, that actually seems pretty great! SQ's meals seem to have shrunk significantly though, suppose it's in line with what's happening in the industry.
Didn’t see any mention of those 10 weekly flights stopping in the numerous articles I read. So it will start in October and end at the end of our Summer February 2025? I know they had additional added the most recent summer between Dec 23 and Jan 24 but from my understand this 10 weekly was a set in stone kind of thing. Yeah it’s not cheap flying SQ… I used to get decent deals up to China at one point but then got onto QF points so stopped flying SQ.
@@LukeCrisp yeah for some reason, SQ can't seem to make Adelaide work with 14 weekly flights - the only OZ capital city to be like that. I'm flying to china too in a couple of weeks to Guangzhou with China Southern... From MEL of course. Hehehe.... Guess what? I have Japan and Taiwan planned too in November! 🤣
@@ryansofly haha I’ll be interested to see if all this hype I have read is just seasonal because the writers certainly didn’t convey that msg. I have China Southern in a little over a week - Guangzhou.. then onto Hefei. Never flown them so looking forward to it! Enjoy your trip!
I would love to fly everywhere long distance, but flying is not a civilized thing these days and I do have the time and so, going by rail (or ship) is my preferred way to travel. Also, yeah, I do like to see things from ground level as I have not been in Australia much and look forward to comparing this trip to the Indian Pacific which I take in 2 days.
