Idk if this has already been commented, but it’s still a cool fact The inklings that appear in the Parallel Canon were confirmed in an interview to be copies of Agent 4. It’s unknown where they are now, but it’s still super interesting and opens up more for the names. The Parallel part refers to how it’s literally a parallel of 4, though I’m not sure how or if the Canon part changes at all in this context.
Also, another bonus on Parallel Canon is that they imitate the player by using the exact same Color Chips as you. For instance, if you have Main Firing Speed and Splash Radius both maxed out, so will they.
We know via interviews IIRC that Marina created Asynchronous Rondo as a hospitality robot of some kind that Order then corrupted and turned into a boss. So I propose a slightly alternate theory. It's torn and conflicted and confused not between Marina's desires and the other Octoling engineers' desires for the Memverse, but between its original function and its new and aggressive directive as a boss.
We have many members that choose to type instead of talk. The server is open to seasoned community members, so drop in my Twitch stream every MWF and you'll earn channel points just by watching. Save up enough and you can join in on the fun. My Twitch username is the same as here!
Dude, this was a great video for your first try in the genre! I actually saw the thumbnail awhile back so I could save for when I beat Side Order myself! Don’t know much about music, but I could tell there was more to the jelleton names. Great job!!
I did notice that these bosses make distorded Inkling/Octoling noises, and I thought that each of them contained memories from the memcakes from different people, and basically these pieces of souls from different people are stuck in these machines, broken and incomplete people, unable to understand what's happening to them and at odds with each other in a single body. That's kinda messed up when you think about it.
idk if this helps but I know italian and "marciale" (coming from the infinite form of the verb, marciare) can mean a specific pace while walking (so a march essentialy), but also in a more abstract way it can mean "going at a specific pace" not necessarily needing legs. When used in poetry it's usually indicating someone going towards a goal or any kind of situation or feeling basically, so not in the literal sense of the word. Also the word capriccioso (an adjective) comes from the word capriccio which indicates a whine or having a tantrum. It's a word commonly used to describe children. (This is already a long comment and I'm sorry If I'm nitpicking too much 🫠) On a final "note" (haha get it?) the word Obligato from Spectrum Obligato, comes from the italian word "Obbligato" which in this case means "forced to do something" or obliged, and in the singular form "Obbligo" it can mean a dare, a duty or an obligation (for example truth or dare in italian translates to obbligo o verità) Sorry for the long yap session, take these more like fun facts rather than corrections because in the video the musical terms are described correctly, just wanted to add a little more on the origin of the words :3
I'm an amateur musician and it was super interesting to learn more about music through my favourite game! It's awesome to see how passionate the localisation team was behind Splatoon and this video did a great job explaining it all :) super underrated!
My least favorite Jelleton is the drizzling Capriccioso for the single reason of how annoying they are on "Cruel Sisyphean 8 Shaped Floor" I only ever beat that map with the brush because you move faster with it
Great video! I really appreciate the small things you did like showing off what certain BPMs sound like such as at 4:48 and citing your sources in the video!
Something worth adding to the extra thoughts section and leitmotifs that were mentioned, when you defeat a boss, the clear sound is also heard in We're So Back, the day 2 Splatfest song by Off The Hook. And, in the tutorial levels, the level clear sound is a leitmotif for Color Pulse, their day 1 Splatfest song
Spectrum Obligato could also refer to the fact that Ebb & Flow (Out of Order) plays in the final boss, like in the only other DLC (Octo Expansion), where Ebb & Flow (Octo) played (both playing after a song that had the leitmotif of level completion for each DLC campaign, Spectrum Obligato and Fly Octo Fly respectively), so it might reference that Ebb & Flow just has to play for Eight's final boss battles. I wouldn't be surprised if, whenever the next DLC for the next splatoon game is released, the final boss had Ebb & Flow playing too.
I'm really sorry to say this but hear u trying to say Italian works is low-key funny as an Italian speaker 😭 ALSO I LOVE HOW SPLATOON USED ITALIAN WORDS, NOW I FEEL LIKE KNOWING THIS LANGUAGE IS KINDA OF A FLEX ❤
27:50 Plus, when you fight them, they make inkling noises! Inklings and octolings make different sounds for when you hit or splat them. Even the ones without the pointed ears, you can hear them making the inkling splat sounds. :>
Thank You for explaining this for people like me who absolutely love anything and everything to do with music and how it is used in video games, and explaining it in a way that a non-music player can understand ❤ this whole side order is just one big musical wonderland. Great video!
Glad I'm not the only one that thought of Canon as Parallel Canon as parallel "Story". Though I assumed that canon was an idea in music in a different way, like that a canon in music was like... the canon of Classical Music or similar.
I am kind of disappointed that some of these details were lost in the Spanish translation wich is kinda sad because the translation of Side Order in Spanish goes very hard among all the other translations, it's called La Cara Del Orden (The Face Of Order).
