I bought a 8 in skar evl 8-d2 , 2 ohm , is what i hear about 2 ohms sound quality really true, should i switch and get a 4ohm or you guys think sound shouldnt be terrible?
@@licensedbugman8909 I don't know what you are hearing about 2ohm. There isn't a sound quality difference. If you have the power to run the the driver in series, that is arguably the better way to run. The Bl is higher in series vs parallel. Since the Re is going to also increase, some would say they will cancel each other out. However, if you have an amplifier that will produce the power at 2 ohms that the subwoofer needs, run it in series at a 2ohm load. It's going to let the amplifier run cooler and more efficiently.
Honestly, I think it depends on what you are looking for. I have two FI 10's in my Ram. They are more musical than SPL. The EVL subs don't play super low. They are more of an SPL woofer. If you want to get loud, run 4 EVL 8's. They just don't play super low. They are really good in the mid 40's. They do get loud. What type of music are you usually listing to?
Good sub, small but strong 💪 Eficien for small car.. But, need big ampere battery n power monoblock min stable 1 ohm for drive this little monster subs 😂😂
Recoil is decent stuff on a budget , I would stay away from there cheap door speakers and get better ones for sure , most have failed on me. And the DI series amps fail alot too.
What enclosure do you have? Ported? I have two of these in my Sierra with the ported enclosure (tuned to about 38-40 Hz) and I can barely tickle 35 Hz. . . Such as the lowest note in “Put On” by Jeezy. . . But 38 Hz and above rocks the fuuuuudge out of everything.
i got that in a vented enclosure and im very impressed with it .plays low and loud for a 10 inch and very accurate also.going on 7 years now in my daily driver
Lol I have the entire velodyne front, center, rear and servo controlled subwoofer from back in the late 90's. It was one of the many things gifted to me by David Clark. I worked for David Clark at DLC Design (Google him/it) along with Tom Nousaine back when they were doing testing and consulting for many companies. NXT and Sonigistix (Monsoon MM-100 , MM-700) were one of the computer speaker projects we were working on. Built all of the prototypes right here in Wixom,MI. I was just a grunt, but I learned a lot and have a huge amount of respect for Dave and everything that he taught me.
@@johnnyh127 say word..lol..I didn't even know that they made those I love there subs the are one of my favorite..as a matter fact there are my favorite subs...can you send me a pic of the whole set up ?.....I bought first Velodyne spl 10...in 2003 I wanna say and feel in love with them👍..lol..🤣😂...WOW iam so jealous of you bro😊
So far so good. I put it in a prefab box that I had sitting around that is a little small, but I've run it on all sorts of music and pushed it pretty hard. It is really difficult to nitpick a subwoofer that cost $60. Def a great option for people without a ton of money who just want some good bass!
I have a Bluetooth receiver through a bench amplifier. Running freq generator through my phone. Power is through a battery attached to a power supply. Current bench amp is a Massive Blade 2000.1v2
Quickest way is to free air it on a test tone just before it starts to bottom out. That will loosen the suspension pretty quicky. Otherwise just play it at moderate levels. It is a pretty stiff suspension. I prefer the free air method.
The type R and even type S is a good all-around sub for playing music. No real strengths but no real weaknesses either. Maybe a strength is that it's versatile and sounds good in almost any enclosure. Some subs just sound bad playing everyday music because they were just designed to move back and forth as aggressively as possible to create as much pressure and air movement as possible which doesn't translate to good tonal/musical quality. The alpines are a great balance of sq and spl.
I've been running this woofer hard in ok me of the cars and have been completely happy with it. I started back in 1995 running RF and JL, and there is nothing wrong with them, but who wants to pay $700 for the same performance you get from $200 ??
