They were great back then and they stayed great throughout their whole career. What a band! Since they were that young, already very accomplished musicians and songwriters. Best band ever!
Wish it was better but it is what it is. If there was 2020s technology available in those days, the concert would have been great quality. As is, we have to be thankful someone took their shakycam along so we can enjoy the early years.

Te recuerdo que son eras distintas y no puedes obviar la presencias de Tarja en Nightwish ya que sin ella nunca hubiese existido una banda del Rock Metal, si te conoces de como nació Nightwish? Sabes del porque cambiaron de género musical ? Sabías que Nightwish era una banda acústica sinfónica operística? Y que por la potencia vocal de Tarja tuvieron que ir al Rock Metal??? No entiendo a los fans de la era de Floor ya que Nightwish no nació en el Waken 2013 🙄 las 3 eras son parte de Nightwish sin Tarja no habría existido El Poeta y El Péndulo y otros temas que eran muy obvia que su destinatario era Tarja , coincido con la evolución de Nightwish pero no comparto cuando quieren desmeritar a la primera vocalista femenina y COFUNDADORA de la banda Nightwish TARJA TURUNEN 🙄 un fans verdadero de Nightwish disfruta de las 3 eras aunque haya favoritismo, el tema está en no desmeritar a ninguno asi de simple todos hicieron parte de Nightwish incluyendo Samy, toooodos son Nightwish por más que haya un solo cerebro y manejador de la banda!!! Doubt Floor would have elevated Nightwish to the levels Tarja (and indeed Anette) did. Tarja built up the fanbase and support with her uniqueness, vocal composition and talent. With Floor they would have been an ordinary band and she would not have had the same impact on the band’s infancy like Tarja had. Floor is living on the popularity of Tarja and Anette.
@@jonathanpike6614 Not NW anymore, different band with different people - I mean a lot of band's are mastermind + session musicians, it's not bad per se. But in the case of Nightwish they were a real band once. 🙃

have you ever been to a concert ? depending where you are located the audio is out or bass or loud , or u can't hear the singer ect.. for the time period the audio isn't too bad
Ah, those were the days. Saw Nightwish in the Tavastia club in Helsinki, must have been late 1998 or early 1999. Tuomas was still singing and they had a friend/classmate of Tarja singing backup vocal ... with her back to the audience as the poor backup gal was probably scared shitless by the crowd of *hundreds* 😁
Wow you lucky #######. Honestly you were lucky to see them starting out then in one of their first concerts. It must have been a great concert and you are right about having a classmate there but as a bassist who then had to leave for military service. Incidentally the Tavastia concert is on RU-vid, but as Audio Only which is a shame, but still worth listening to, even if there’s no video.

@@TTTT-hh9lj There's nothing wrong with him as a bassist, he's perfectly good, although as the bass lines got rather more complex in later songs, he may have struggled. The balance wasn't there, and if people nearer him heard more bass then maybe the setup needed a touch more work. I know for a fact that it takes a lot of guts to stand up on stage, more than I have ever had, and I know even seemingly simple work isn't trivial when you're synchronising with a large group and haven't yet developed a body of experience in doing so. So, from that perspective, it would be unfair to say anything negative about him. He did something I could never have done, no matter how much practice I had. He wasn't just able, he was actually there, and that merits respect. That it didn't work out is sad. I doubt we'll ever know the true story because memories are always tinted with personal perspective and personal pain. But, in the end, Nightwish could not have got going without him, and that makes him a core part of a very important history.

But from what you’re saying, yes the technology wasn’t 2020s and they probably didn’t have a decent setup considering they had only started out and if it was now sound would have been great. My point was more that he was as good as Marco, maybe not the singing, but a good bassist and didn’t really like the limelight like Marco, just liked playing. Quite a lot don’t give him the credit he deserves. Yes there were issues between Sami and Tuomas which is why he was let go.
Nearly every band is at their best at this stage in my opinion , the "Oceanborn" album as a complete work is actually one of the best albums ever. This drummer is just fantastic and the guitarist is under untilized after this album , the songwriting is amazing through imaginarium !
