Which reminds us that every bad starts small (unless artificially introduced and pushed by producer and record label) and that we shall never forget to help the small bands to get a platform and make their way. Many may not get to be in the limelight, but some may become part of the greatest bands ever or even legends. You never know when they start... When covid is gone, don't forget to support the small bands and gigs... It makes a change for the bands and for the music.
And so started the road to become the best. This was the year I accidentally stumbled on a band that I thought was to becomes the best in their genre. Yet so young was the guys and after all this years and all their difficulties I still love them thank you guys for great music
and they don't even realize that. i watch 98-2005 concerts, and my only thought is - i would give anything in the world, to go back in time to be there... any thing and everything!
And the most weirdest thing is that I was there! 😂 I don't even have any photos of this gig and then this video just popped without any warning! Oh, those days. Go Liperi! My mom still lives there. 😁
To think I got to know the band only months after that gig is mind boggling. Only now do I realise just how young they were when Nightwish went through the roof. Remarkable.
I dont know. I like his sound in this footage, compared to the 2000ish era. In this footage his sound of drumming is very clear and ... Badass ofcourse.
Even though I think that Nightwish is currently at the top of their game with EFMB, in this video there is so much just sheer joy of playing and innocence that it's quite touching
EFMB was their most boring, derivative album. I still like it, but ever since Once, everything has been the same, and it's about time they go back to the Power Metal style or shake it up some more. The inclusion of Troy full time is one of the only fresh things about EFMB. Even with Floor, who I love.
Well that is a matter of taste, I guess. I, on the other hand, like their newer stuff (from DPP to EFMB) better because the old stuff is a bit cheesy and I'm not the biggest fan of power metal or Tarja's vocals. Don't get me wrong, I love their old stuff too, especially Oceanborn, but I just enjoy their current style a lot more.
@@ToastedCigar Fair enough! Just stumbled upon this exchange years later. I read what I said and it came across a lot more pointed than intended. What did you think of Human Nature? I love it - it shook up the formula enough to be fresh but still feels very much like Nightwish to me.
@@Nightowljrm Don't worry, it's all okay! Yeah, I really liked Human Nature as well, it was an interesting change from their previous albums. I'm also interested to see how they are going to pull off the next one without Marko, he was such a big part of the band.
Epic . Just epic. Young, free, motivated, passionate. All that mixed with magic only this band had and result was a fairytale journey they gave us in Tarja's era. I'm still enjoying these old concerts way more than any perfectly FullHD recorded today's video material they have. It's still great band for sure and fantastic experience to see live, but this magic they had here just disappeared and it still makes me so happy and it hurts at the same time when I watch this.
They were great back then and they stayed great throughout their whole career. What a band! Since they were that young, already very accomplished musicians and songwriters. Best band ever!
@@belenvalenzuela7044 Wrong. Tuomas and Tarja were friends since childhood. It was Tarja's manager husband who started telling her things like "she's too good for the band" and that he and Tarja should get a bigger cut from the band's profits than the rest because "fans care about her and not the band" etc. Tuomas was literally so heartbroken after kicking Tarja from the band that he thought of committing suicide, but instead opted to write a song about killing himself instead of doing it for real (The Poet And The Pendulum), and the band also made a song about Tarja's manager-husband and his antics called "Master Passion Greed". It was most definitely Tarja's southerner lover who destroyed her relationship with the band. They were all friends before he came along, and he was so insufferable that the band had to cut ties with Tarja too to get rid of him.
Wow, what a gem! You long to tell these kids that 20 years on, they are famous, one of the biggest bands around, still progressing on the highest musical level... with a different bass player and a different goddess on vocals though. Life is strange for sure.
*Exactly.. impossiBALL! Earth was created by THE CREATOR* the globe earth model = satan's perversion of God's creation which is this Biblically flat and stationary Earth circle ✌❤
@@jonathanpike6614 Not NW anymore, different band with different people - I mean a lot of band's are mastermind + session musicians, it's not bad per se. But in the case of Nightwish they were a real band once. 🙃
@@megaTherionXX I don’t really get what you’re saying. NW is not a real band anymore? In addition to Tuomas, there are some pretty freaking excellent musicians in the band currently
awesome document !!! all very involved in situation ... before an audience does not seem to be very demanding ... contrary to now ... very demanding public and the band ... we always wait for it at the highest level, in studio and live !!
I was 10 years old at the time of this concert. I met them years later, when everyone already had their hair longer! Seeing them in their beginnings is really very valuable. It's amazing how the band grew to what it is today. Although Floor is a great singer, this is the old school of Nightwish. I prefer these memories instead of today's blockbusters.
Thank you so much for sharing this gem! I don’t care if the audio is not perfect. Also I don’t like Tarja style at that time (monotone operatic different from her solo work nowadays which is great), but as a fan of Nightwish I respect her. The band sound so good, so fresh. So fun to watch 🙌🏻
I liked Walking In The Air, as well as the part at the beginning where the band members met young fans and signed autographs. They came across as nice people.
Nearly every band is at their best at this stage in my opinion , the "Oceanborn" album as a complete work is actually one of the best albums ever. This drummer is just fantastic and the guitarist is under untilized after this album , the songwriting is amazing through imaginarium !
