Hello, my name is Dan Robinson, extreme weather photographer and cameraman. I travel across the USA to capture compelling footage of severe weather year-round, specializing in winter weather, lightning and severe storms/tornadoes.
stormhighway.com is my primary web site where you'll find a repository of photos and weather observation logs from 30 years on the road.
icyroadsafety.com is my winter driving awareness site, an ongoing effort to educate the public about this underrated weather hazard.
The el Reno tornado had 300mph winds read inside the vorticies but the winds do not mean rating it is based on damage rating which is why people invented the Ef scale and a lot of people kept arguing about el Reno being a ef5 but in damage rating they only saw ef3 damage with winds being highest at 165mph and it made tons of people upset but based on damage rating it was true that the tornado only did ef3 damage and it did not hit many homes because the tornado was in a field mostly that is what I wanted to tell by the way rip team twisted and meteorologists Tim Samaris.
That was the week of my birthday and I was in Ripley my mom had to drive and watch it heading home from dropping me and my sister's off at my grandma's this was like three days before my birthday

I live in cook county and heard the sirens. just when I heard that o'hare had a nearby tornado I immediately warned my parents and we instantly went down stairs. we risked losing everything. then I heard there was one in midway. man. it felt like we were surrounded. but good thing that we weren't targeted by the tornado. thank the lord 🙏
