I'm interested in how Americans (and others) interpret this. A tribute to Chuck Berry? Self-Irony ? Just another song? Today, it is more or less the perceived wisdom that Scandinavia 'has the ball' and have perforned better than America in all areas since decades. I'm Scandinavian and have seen the economy of Northern Europe grow like crazy during my lifespan, but IMO this is very much a result of doing the right thing with resources (like tons of money, admittedly) America aided us with in the aftermath of WWII. Pardon my rant, but music isn't disconnected from society and history.
I was in a bar in Grand Rapids arguing with a gutter punk about where the MC5 were from. When trying to convince him that he was wrong with Scandinavia and insisting Detroit, he told me to stand up when I say that. I did. Then he sucker punched me. He hit like a b***h and then I chased him and his two friends out of the bar. Totally worth it!
