It seemed like Esme really cared about Maya despite her and Zig splitting up later in the series, plus, if it wasn't for Zig and Esme going up to the balcony and witnessed Maya OD'ing, she would've died
For me Esme is an interesting character. The things she does or says is awful and mean sometimes, but she immediate reaction of seeing someone hurt/drying was to help out in anyway she could. Even tho she didn’t like Maya at all, but she still had that reaction of helping. I don’t think she’s a general a terrible person, she’s awful and mean definitely, but not a bad person. ( if you understand what I mean.) and I believe she had an illness that made her act out (bipolar disorder I believe) such made her character more difficult to understand, because she doesn’t know what she does Half the time since she doesn’t take anything to help with that. ( that I could remember at least. ) Still doesn’t really give her the right to be mean all the time, but she can’t really be to blame for all of it. Especially when she’s in her ‘episodes’ ( for example: in the end of season 4 of the Next class. I believe she was in a episode and wasn’t thinking or acting. )

I do believe Zig did do some toxic things in the relationship but he always apologised and that time apart made them grow as people and I'm happy they were confirmed endgame coz I loved them from their very first scene together
Zig was toxic but like what 15/16 year old boy isn’t 💀 even if it’s tv let’s be realistic here, almost every guy on degrassi was toxic and/or had atleast one toxic moment. But his growth throughout the show showed his maturity for sure and that’s why I always loved them more than each of their separate relationships
Watching Maya grow up throughout degrassi is so hard. She was so happy in next gen and I feel like she felt like Eli when he said he ‘carried death’ with him after he found cam.
I wish they got back together and who knows😶😶😶 But I do know I hate Zoe she is just so toxic and jealous over everyone destroying everyone’s relationship ticking time Bomb that explode multiple times over multiple live destroyed everything so this is my was of saying go to hell Zoe
Why did they dumb Zig's character down so much in NC? I hated Next Class for this, and his character, I felt like he was wasted potential. _A lot._ The inconsistencies blew my mind. As someone who actually likes Zig, I wish they could of given him better and relevant storylines. It still doesn't unravel to me how after all those years of fighting for Maya, he decides to cheat on her with Zoe. I get that he was jealous. But what the hell happened to, _"I don't want other fish! Girls are just girls, except for Maya!"_ ? It doesn't make sense.
