I'd probably have one if my rental house had a car charger. Public charging is way too expensive to justify the switch from petrol to electric plus the time sat at them isn't worth it
Re watching this video im actually super impressed with my mg4 triphy long range. Im able to get just about 200 miles in winter from it, thats on a regular trip that i do to watch football that is exactly 100 miles each way, so the batteries and cabin eill cool all the way down between each leg of the trip.
Good video Stuart. I fitted the sill protectors and also door edge protective strips which I am very pleased with. I now have a sew-on steering wheel cover because I find the wheel gets hot and sweaty in Spanish sunshine and I wanted a dash of interior colour. However even a professional upholsterer would have trouble fitting this thing, the Chinese instruction video takes twenty minutes just to show what to do but I have virtually given up. If you are tempted to get one, take note.
A positive review and I loved test driving the Trophy version. What car rates it as the 2nd worst reliable car & I am seeing a lot of negative user reviews. MG also seem to not stand over the 7 year review according to many people who have bought this model.
Hello, I've just got my car today an MG 4 SR and it was at 83% and tried to use my granny charger but even though it connects to the car, the charging won't start. What I am doing wrong? Is it possible that the previous owner set up a charging limit in the application and because of that I can't start the charging from infotainment? I don't see any settings like amps or anything else. I am using a Taysla charger because the car didn't have a granny charger. Thank you!
Lets be honest 70 mph is 113 km/h. Which is a snooze-fest. In that speed my consumption is 3.2 L/100km with F31 2-liter diesel. My typical range is 1000 km going 160 kmh !! But going that slow I can easily make 1400 km on single fuel tank. 6 euro-cents / 1km which makes 6€/100 km. Tesla is 20€ to charge for 320km. Its 6.25€/100km. The same.
£34,69! I am in Quebec, Canada and I tend to forget we have the cheapest electricity in North America… The same over cost the equivalent of a little less than £5… I can better understand why some people are not keen on switching to EVs…
Hi Stuart, well over a year ago we exchanged some messages regarding EV's and you were very reassuring. So much so, I've been driving an ID3 for over a year now. Just wanted to let you know the positive impact your videos have had and to thank you for your support. All the best from sun drenched Scotland.
Hi, can you have the cabin preheated and also the battery in the morning during the winter directly from application or do you need to get inside the car for that? Thanks
I regularly have to travel about 140 miles without charging. Do you think this trim and engine could manage that throughout its lifetime? Or would I need the long range for that?
In the winter here it goes bellow -5°C on regularly basis but also sometimes it goes to -15° to -20°C. i guess I will need to go inside the car to start the preheating of the battery and of the interior. They didn't fix it yet? Because from what I see the application is not working right. That worked just fine with my old sold Dacia Spring. Thanks
Please do a review in 5 and 10 years! Id love to know how well theyre going in long terms. I really hope EVs can last the test of time and beat fossil fuel cars in the longterm too
I would prefer software to access vehicle settings, such as automatic window closing, lane keeping lock in Off position, and so on. I had a Leaf 2 with the Leafspy on my smartphone and it was great. Anyway thanks for your review, it is incredible what we can do with a car WHILE not driving, LOL.
Good review, you are so correct about Driver Presets, drives me mad programming the car with my preferences every time I drive it. If they dont change this, I would not buy another.
with respect the car has only done around 6k miles so it should be mint inside and out. I notice the speedo is reading kph is this the default instead of mph? After such low milage you have damage to the door cards and the shinny plastic surfaces, thats poor quality and design.
A good longer term test and I'd agree with your outcomes. Ie the software could be better, an off button would be nice and it is a bit too wide. Other than that it has great car and my xpower can do some amzing things. Also when light footed I get nearly 5 miles to the kw and in the summer nearly 300miles range :-)
Hey Stu, I remember watching your videos before my GF got her MG4 LR; Just curious how was the Ioniq5 to drive and in terms of the cabin and the software compared to the MG4? edit: not to worry, just found your follow-up video on the Ioniq5; that said - very curious about the Mg4 vs the Tesla M3!
Hello from Denmark. Im considering to buy a Mg4 like yours. But I can not find any reviews of the assist systems, after the latest software updates..... Does yours have the absolute latest software versions ? And if so, do you think it has improved the systems, especially the Lane Keeping Assist wich some find dangerous.. ? Maybe you could make a video where you test the systems in different situations ?
I'd be a little disapointed with those figures? I have a Megane E-tech 60 kW which comfortably does 340 km (211 miles) at Irish Motorway speeds 120 kmh (74.5 mph) on an 80% charge and on full regeneration! I have had the car since March 2022 and have done 28,750 km.
I can't stand MG pilot on this its useless. I borrowed one from a friend for a couple weeks. Going through some roadworks and the lane assist nearly pulled me off the road into a concrete barrier. The front collision nearly caused a pile up 3 or 4 times. cars parked on the size of the road or vans delivering parcels caused emergency break even with indicator on. Even a car simply waiting to pull out of a junction the, car emergency braked for no reason. The adaptive cruise control left such a huge gap to the car infront that others saw it as a space to pull in. When the adaptive cruise notices a car going say 5 mph less than you it will brake hard, then have to re accelerate to catch up again. I know these can be turned off but I often forgot. It really made me scared to drive it to be honest. I dont know if its all new cars, or wether the MG4 is particularly bad.
From what I've seen so far 60/70 makes surprisingly little difference in the ze50. It was a huge difference in the ze20. The ABRP app told me this when i was messing with the settings and a real world drive confirmed it. Its not the best but its good enough, far more practical now you can use rapid chargers
