Great video bro, I gained so much value from this I can use in my own production! Please make another part or even a beat where you make a beat like this from scratch!
Jesus H Christ, these “inspirational” videos are so tacky! Why do people want to act like gurus all the time in here? It’s either looking away, eating, walking around the city, like an old BBC documentary. Please stop! 😂😂😂
I’m glad you say this because I have a few things I love that I show in my channel and often wondered if I should just have gardening and not include the humor videos of my rescue cats but like you said it’s all a part of me and my life , and yeah I too also have a cooking section 😂❤, I love it all because it allows me versatility with what kind of videos I want to make plants, cats, and cooking , go check it out ❤, great videos I subscribed 🤗
Hey friend whats up! First off don't exclude parts of your personality whether humor cooking or whatever! Its just important that whatever you do, everything should maintain the same feeling throughout "YOU" whatever it is gardening, humor, music, whatever you should be the constant not just an activity! Will check it out! ✌🏾🤎 thank ya!
I found you when you were doing beat tutorials but since you started making these short film level videos you've quickly become one of the most inspired and inspiring people on this platform.
If you think about it, the samples he flipped were not on a grid themselves. So using free hand and micro timing on the mpc to make things fit was what helped him develop his drum style. Once you use loop points and freehand you develop your own feel. No two live drummers play the same piece exactly the same. Dilla was a genius producer but it seems like half of his groove was the way he made things fit that felt right to him. That’s part of his personality. You can get close but I should imagine he would think that’s a strange thing to do. You can apply his workflows and studio tricks but its not going to bounce unless it comes from something that makes you feel good, that sounds right to you and makes you laugh out loud or get up out of your chair and move. Be your own favourite drummer.
Great points homie! Especially with his sample choices, it can be weird doing these emulation type videos trying to get a certain sound of a popular producer. In all honesty my main goal is just to peel back the curtain a bit and show a little bit on ways you might be able to get similar sounds in hopes people try and find their own way ya know! We learn by emulating our favorites and turning that into our own jam ya know! Thanks for engagin!
Great video as usual man!! I researched J Dilla for my university dissertation. Specifically I used the theory of Late Style (how an artist's work changed when they are approaching death) to explore Dilla's circumstances and his work on Donuts, and I found so many different messages and meanings buried within that album that I never noticed before. Such an inspiration man Dilla the goat
Yessssir! What a dope topic choice btw 😌✊🏾! I want to talk about that too tho! Its so crazy when people die their legacy is almost deity like. But also when you have a grip on your own morality and come to terms you definitely have to be put into a different creative state ya know! The GOAT! Hope the paper turned out well man!
Awesome video my bro! So to summarize, your option of a easy route when sampling is to chop in each beat of a bar and experiment with the chops? I'm also curious if you have also chopped samples in each chord change?
@NeisanMo. thanks homie! And yeah I feel keeping it in time usually on the kick and snare usually leads to dope progressions everytime. But honestly you can do it anyway I've done random transient chopping.. beat chopping.. vocal chopping. It's so many options!
@@JayDAndre Correct there really isn't a correct way which makes sample chopping all the more versatile and fun. I've been in a rut for a long while when making beats and this video absolutely helped with reminding me of ways to go about sample chopping. Thanks again my bro. Love from the UK 🙌🏾💯
