I Almost Lost Control

All my life I tried my best to stay vice free, as I've seen what's it done to loved ones, those close to me and strangers alike. I had my own slip ups here and there but the beginning of the year I really felt the drawbacks of one in particular. Whatever it is you can feel addicted to it, whether you love the feeling or not, its devious because we might be actively trying to stray from something yet we're at a point where we crave or desire it.
Imagine someone told you that water was poison. You'd be shocked and skeptical, unable to believe that something so essential to life could be harmful. Despite your doubts, you decide to stay away from it, just in case. But as time goes on, your body begins to protest. You feel the growing thirst, the dryness in your throat, the desperate craving for water.
Your body needs water to survive, and every cell in your body screams for it. You see others drinking it and looking refreshed, and it feels almost impossible to resist. But you remember the warning, and you fight against your natural instincts. You try to quench your thirst with other drinks, but nothing truly satisfies like water.
Now, compare this to an addiction. The substance or behavior isn't something you need to survive, but the craving feels just as intense. Your mind and body tell you that you need it, that it will bring relief or pleasure. However, unlike water, which is essential, these addictions are not. They're deceptive, tricking you into believing that you can't live without them.
I believe the challenge lies in overcoming the powerful desire for something that's ultimately harmful, breaking free from the cycle of craving and regret, and finding healthier ways to fulfill your needs and bring balance to your life.
Don't give up on water though lmao its not poison.
But if you want to be in control of your happiness, you must devoid yourself of substances, people, and things that seek to control you. This means letting go of anything that manipulates your emotions, dictates your choices, or hinders your freedom to be your authentic self. By distancing yourself from these influences, you reclaim your power and create a life driven by you
