The premier channel for ATC riders, old school quads and dirt bikes- and I've got the scars to prove it.
If you are reading this, then you are formally invited to watch some of my rebuilds and riding adventures. I've got some great friends and they will be joining us for trips to the dunes, riding in the forest and visits to the MX track. Please enjoy these videos and feel free to leave a comment!
Cool tri-z and cool Camaro. I’ve ridden a tri-z once and I was really impressed. I’m surprised more guys who like to ride hard don’t run the tri-z. Maybe parts are just too hard to find.
@@RetroRiders_250R_Magazine thank you! Mine is a little quicker than the average tri z. I have a yz250 top end on it runs pretty hard! Parts are actually getting easier to find now compared to 10-20 years ago.
Oh man, I wish I could go! The good news is that I just moved from Denver back to Arizona and I should be able to start going to the dunes with some frequency again.
Awesome!! Surprised he doesn't wear gloves tho 😅 I rather wear gloves than a helmet almost. And you don't use blue flags over in the US? Im sure he was lapping people 😁
Wow. For a few minutes in September of 2023, at 4am, i was transported back to 1987. Chain link fence over a fire pit, slabs of carne asada for dinner, crispy tortillas...
So appreciate you guys bringing back to heritage man which is nothing ain't like it so awesome Thank you bring back a lot of memories always stay safe 🤜🤛🤘💪✌️.
I can’t remember the band or song. I found it in a library I used for video editing. I think I marked it in my account, so the next time I’m editing, I’ll try and look it up. Thx for watching.
Congratulations on getting a 250R! These bikes really shine in the dunes. If you ever ride there, I want you to come back to this thread and tell me how you liked it. Thx for watching.
I was always told there’s an old Oldsmobile that got stuck on the hill and just got buried over time been around 250R’s since I was in diapers I have one of my parents 87 Trx’s that they bought brand new and it’s been with us ever since I’ll never get rid of it
The folklore of Glamis is too cool. I have heard that rumor about the Oldsmobile that might be buried. I’m jealous of you guys who have a bike that was bought new and is still in the family. That would be a great family heirloom.
I like more, the old school atv,s. they are the real dune slayer,s. The today,s atv,s : razors, can ams, etc, etc, they are high tech computer nerd crap. too many electronic shit. By the way, I have a 1987 KXF 250 TECATE 4. The green lean killer machine. GO GREEN.
Mannnnn, I’ve always wanted a Tecate 4. Those are so badass! I see them for sale on occasion and its never been the right time to get one, but I keep hoping!
I used to have 3 250R I used to cut the reed stop's off and put in a new set of boysen reed's. One had a high volume water pump. One 250r still had the original grips still on it , that was an 85 I wish I still had that 85 , it was still tight Great job on your video 👍
I love hearing about the modifications from back in the day. It’s fun having 250s- I always enjoy the conversations when I drive them around places and strangers wanna talk about them. Thanks for watching!
I truly believe that the '04&'05 trx450r was the true game changer. Yes the YZF450 is epic, but good-ness... Try working on that thing. It's a nightmare of over-engineering. The TRX250R was absolutely amazing.... and it still is. So fun and still competitive. But those 4stokes are just faster.
The new 450 engines don’t just have power, they have usable power. The control is superb. But I’ll always have a couple of 2 strokes. I just love them.
@@RetroRiders_250R_Magazine Absolutely!! I love the smokers.. the Smurf juice is.. special.. That rpm and feel is completely satisfying. It's a completely different level. But the four strokes just make more. They just sit on the dirt and grab. It's almost no comparison. Two strokes can barely do, in three gears, what a four-stroke does in one. Honestly, they should make a completely different class for two-strokes. They're night and day.... as a generational 250 two stroke rider... when I eventually switched to 450... it's not even close. So much power and acceleration...and top end... and traction... and just crazy. They should definitely separate them.... Like what Red Bull did.
@@insanetaco98 For sure!!! However, it's a trade of. Yamaha is as simple as Legos, and is easily maintained and configured. But factory models of the same year.... Suzuki makes crazy power, Kawasaki has great suspension... Honda does both. Not the best at either, but is good at both. Yamaha, is the generic version.... Buy some shocks at CVS. That is not an insult. I have nothing but respect for Yamaha. Affordable, strong, and easy. I mean seriously, the 426 was a game changer. It essentially invented the 450 class. But 20yo hondas are still in the fight, winning against brand new Yamahas. That OG TRX450R changed the game. It was never the best, but was so good at everything, it set the precedent for sport quad racing. Every company took notice and adapted.
@Matt-416 both my yfz and my dad's trx are 05s and the yamaha was faster even back then. Hell my carb model yfz keeps pace with the current model. The yfz is much more track oriented than the honda out of the box but in mine and my old man's hands they both feel comparable. Nothing generic about the yamaha. In fact looking at the changes from 04-05 to 06+ both yamaha and honda borrowed ideas from eachother. The kawi and suzuki while short lived may have had handling stock but couldn't touch the other 2 once they've all been through the race treatment. Not to mention the faulty fuel systems and tip over sensor issues those machines had. Honda will get credit though cause if not for the 400ex debuting in 99 we'd still all be on 250rs with aftermarket frames and 426 power plants
