In liaison with DOJOTONE PUBLICATIONS, this is the RU-vid channel for great music, based around the series of extensively written biographies and musical ponderings available in print ! This includes the definitive home for BREAD videos, reliving the musical magic and memories of David Gates, James Griffin, Robb Royer Mike Botts and Larry Knechtel.
This man David Gates is a national treasure. One of the greatest singer/songwriters ever. I’ve been fortunate to grow up listening to his beautiful music. 💯💕🕊
The Association was the first "big name" band I ever saw in concert. They were a very tight and professional group and, despite the ballads they're so well known for, they could also really ROCK!!
So Geoff was wearing glasses at the time, when I saw him don't think he was wearing glasses? Or was he Carol? I get too many senior moments these days, but yeah great songs. 😍😍
Amazing. When I was a kid and listened to all of the great music, I thought the bands were playing the music - amazing musicians in the Wrecking Crew. ❤❤
His music is something extra special, not normal sequences or patterns or chords. The music, harmony lyrics are just supreme. The most underrated band I’ve ever heard.
I was a rock and roller like most of my friends in those days, but Bread has always been one of my favorites and I've been a loyal listener ever since I first heard them in 1970. I've performed this song live along with a friend of mine at a local country fair. Just us two and my guitar on the stage. The response we got was amazing. I was very surprised at how many people stopped what they were doing and sang the chorus along with us. There were many people at the venue that got a very deep, soulful look in their eyes, which told me that this song hit home for them for one reason or another. It's such a simple yet powerful song. Such a lovely tune. Thank you, David for your talent, your time, and your treasure of music.
Loved this group and their music from afar in Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺. Studied many a night at college listening to their harmonies and great music . Sadly they never visited Australia, but I m still a fan and listening in 2024 .
Nearly all the Bread's early tunes of the years of 1970 - 1972 has, to me, sweet memories of the gals I dated in those three years when I was 20 - 22 years old. Oh, those "J" girls of Janis and Janice...and, the Summer of 1970 of Cathy...Great times in the hits from, The Bread rock/pop group of David Gates and company.
I was introduced to this band in1972 by a girlfriend who'd actually seen them in London, on presumably, a low profile visit. Gates is a sadly overlooked and brilliant writer/performer. No doubt not to the taste of current arbiters of the music business - along with bandmates who were first call LA session guys And if you're not moved by "Diary' ... And, as an aside I worked in this theatre (BBC Television Theatre, Shepherds Bush) in the 70's. As I recall there was a soundproofed area where the strings, brass and WW would play - as in this show. Later on I think "Wogan' was done from there.
Bread's only UK visit during those early years was back in 1970, when they played a few promotional shows. Other than David coming back over the following year to tape a BBC show, this was the first time they had performed in the UK since then...
Good job on the song . Those were definitely different times. . I am 66 years old now so I was a little young to have made it to , looks like wood stock .☮️❤️
