After seeing Atari game over, I truly understand that ET was not the cause of the video game crash it was third-party companies making poor games for a cash grab and poor decisions from the higher ups. It was pretty much oversaturation that's what it was
Uh, yes, selling what is essentially a bunch of game modes, using nostalgia alone, and charging ANY amount of money for it is the very definition of a cash grab. I hope beyond hope that it fails miserably, and gamers actually don't fall for a cash grab for once. Also, that's one of the worst collector's editions ever made.
My mother brought home Cybernoid for the NES for me. I really appreciated her thinking of me and I still smile when I think of that day but there is nothing anyone can do to make me ever want to play that game again. Not even for charity.
The point you guys brought up @7:52 is exactly why I haven't pre-ordered a physical copy. If it has the full games I'd love to have that whole kit in my collection. But if it's just the speedrunning bits then that's stupid.
BurgerTime keeps getting re-released so that's some sort of continued connection to Intellivision. That was one of 3 games I remember playing on my Intellivision, the other 2 being Tennis and Baseball.
I agree the full ROMs should be playable and that was my initial disappointment...... but then I got thinking..... don't we all have half a dozen ways to play these games to our heart's content anyway?
I want to see two games out of this deal. First one can lean into "The First Console War" and the George Plimpton ads by pairing Atari and Intellivision games together. Make it a smaller digital title that leads into a standalone Intellivision 50th compilation.
10:18-10:23: The 6 seconds of enraged silence says more than needs to about it. 💯agree with Ian here. Atari 50 (Digital Eclipse gold master series) are raising the bar on enhanced ports/re-releases.
Final fantasy 9's ending make me cry every time. Garnet believing Zidane is dead, her watching "I wanna be your canary" when the cloak is removed and zidane says "bring my Beloved Garnet to me" she runs down embraces him with tears in her eyes. Every single time
Obviously it's nothing new with the squeezing of creativity out of a industry. Lot of industries have gotten this. Just look at public education. I know a little bit about that and I can tell you that as a former teacher I would never go back because there is no creativity. Instead of CEOs it's superintendents and principles. They will come in they will try to make a school or district semi lean and semi-operational in the fact that their students will have slightly better GPAs and such or they'll make sure the football team plays well in a couple of schools and then once they've collected their paycheck and the s*** starts to hit the fan they leave for another district. Things will always change but I believe this is due to in part the fact that we're all concerned about how things look on the surface. And people mainly consumers seem to be okay with half-ass products. If we as consumers refuse to buy half-ass products then it might start to change for the reverse direction. But again this is a bit more global than just the video game industry
Nes edition can’t be anymore of a cash grab than these Jean commercials in the front of this video. If you are going after the cash, why can’t Nintendo ????
Age with Ian. The current Nintendo president clearly lacks the passion and innovation of previous Nintendo presidents, as this has been a recurring theme for years now, the absolute bare minimum from Nintendo.
Back when The Angry Nintendo Nerd was what James' show was called everyone was trying to copy his format, and you did your own thing. You were one of the few not riding on James' coat tails.
It's kinda funny that the Evercade is basically what the Coleco Chameleon was wanting to be. Except real and mostly decent. It's sad that Tall Tales Tommy basically killed what was left of Intellivision as a brand and a collection of IP anyone might care about. Like combined the original Colecovision and Intellivision machines sold around 3 million units apparently. That's a really small number and of an age group that's in the 40-60 year old region which isn't one that's exactly gonna be hardcore into this stuff anyhow outside of no life types like me. Now thanks to those two ding dongs both machines are now just jokes. Great job.
I came here after watching a video of a certain dude ragging on yall. I like the show, screw that guy. He just talks smack about everything, like that's his only schtick. I walk around and work every day with ear buds in, and you show is great to listen to. I'm at it for 3, sometimes 6 hours.
