I would greatly appreciate your feedback. Do you get nice surround sound with this? I'm not sure why but the only "gaming headset" ive had that sounded right was the gen3 astro a50s with the dolby button on. (and yes i know they are overpriced, its frustrating). Everything ive tried since then sounds so stereo. I'm at the point where im giving up on gaming headsets because they just overcharge for the whole mic. But anyway there a 32, 80, 250 ohm versions, im trying to figure out how i can hook this up if i want to listen to it through my smart tv but also xbox. The astro gen3s have the optical cable which allows me to listen to both without changing anything (aside from the remote's input obviously)
Hey thanks for the comment. I'm oddly not a fan of surround sound in headphones. I've tried so many gaming headsets that have surround sound and they just sound bad to me. I think for these (not gaming) headphones, if you're looking to get surround sound out of them it would mostly depend on what you're connecting it to. That's just an educated guess though. Sorry. @@StreamGearTalk thanks for the quick feedback. I think thats what im saying, a lot of these gaming headsets seem to have the same sort of sound, but it sounds so fake and orchestrated somehow.
got mine three years ago, when i got mine there was about a one month period where the "clamping power" did cause a little bit of discomfort. That being said I tend to put on some hefty sessions so the discomfort only started bothering me 3-4 hours after putting them on. Since getting them that is literally been the only negative, so i highly recommend them to anyone thinking about getting a pair.

Why do you use a Cloudlifter when the Wave XLR delivers enough power/gain itself? The SM7B needs around 60 dB, and the Wave XLR provides up to 70 dB. Using a Cloudlifter in this setup only reduces the audio quality and introduces unnecessary noise.
ru-vid.com3W_aeNHe7w4?feature=share I agree the cloud lifter is not necessary. I've had this stance for a long time. I disagree, the cloud lifter does not reduce audio quality, it sounds just fine to me. I agree it does sound better without when using vsts/ noise suppression.
@@StreamGearTalk For the normal consumer, you probably won't hear any difference at all, but if you check how the audio waveforms change, you can see a huge difference. Noise suppression also reduces quality, not as drastically, but it still has an impact. I’ve seen this firsthand through my previous work with Elgato and Shure, as well as from testing with the audio team at Shure. This is where I base my opinion on, alongside my own testing and the insights gained from working with the Shure audio team.
@@Jesterttv for Shure, pun intended. My content is aimed at the normal consumer. Of course if you're talking now the not so average consumer/creator then that's a different conversation! Average person doesn't have the ears that you probably do plus the added audio from games etc masks sole of the noise.
I returned mine last year exactly because of it. I couldn't monitor my audio properly on stream and it pissed me off. I wonder if they fixed it a year later but i'm not willing to buy another one to test.
I’m thinking about getting this but I have my console plugged into a capture card on my pc. Does that capture card appear as an audio option that I can assign a fader to?
But the Sm7B setup is a Lifetime, 1 time Purchase, if you take care of your gear. rather than selling a used beacon or lesser setup at a huge loss. that's if any one buys your used gear. Only camera to Buy Sony.
dont buy a rodecaster to stream.. buy an elgato.. and i have the rodecaster.. but im doing more podcasting .. and calling into shows. the rodecaster is fantastic. but the elgato.. esp the streamdeck + with the xlr hub.. is unbeatable.. gives you 2 pieces of hardware that are a REALLY REALLY nice to have.. into 1 unit ..
Glad you mentioned how long it took for Rode to give us the features we asked for in the very beginning. Well we still don't have it yet since it's out in beta.
I was finally able to replace the GOXLR with the SD+ and the XLR Dock! using Wave link and all the stream deck plugins - the options are ENDLESS. audio routing is amazing also! XLR Dock can support up to 250 ohm headphones also which is amazing from one device.
Great video, it just stinks when I get into parts of these types of videos were its Pc only software. Is there any hope for Mac users? I feel like I can never find one.
Awesome content as always man. As someone who has dabbled with my setup for the past 10+ years, everything you’re saying is accurate. I don’t stream myself but I’m an enthusiast and a gamer. I gave up gaming headsets over 10 years ago and I’ve tried all kinds of mixers, mics, headphones, etc out there just for fun. There is so much good stuff out there for a real cheap price for anyone starting out streaming these days. I just love technology in general and it’s always exciting to see innovation in this space.
I would say for someone just getting into streaming for decent money and GREAT performance....the NEO line from Elgato, usb mic with wavelink software, there starter streamdeck, and starter lights and neo webcam starter webcam...all of it controllable from the neo streamdeck! Elgato has a starter package where you get the NEO webcam, light, streamdeck and mic for 299.99....I think they even have like 4 payment deals thru 3rd party websites, and I think @streamgeartalk would agree, its a GREAT starter package! This would have made my stream look and sound soooo much better when I first started! Also for 399.99 elgato throws in a usb 4k capture device along with everything else!! And no, I dont work for elgato!!!! lol

I'm evaluating mine and also have the dead zone with the sliders and dials. I've seen another reviewer mention the same thing, so this isn't isolated to just your unit 👍👍
Hey brother i have a quick ? i have the shure mv7 plus and im using the usb side of things into wave link cause i have a streamdeck plus.but i was wondering if i should download the shure motiv app to set up my mic and the use that on the wave link or forget about the motiv app and just do everything on the wavelink
It's honestly a matter of preference. Motic does some nice things but I prefer less apps in use. I'd say try it out both ways and see what you like! And let me know what you go with
any idea why my mic is "ECHOI" is it because im talking to monitor ale sound is bouncing of it? i have elgato wave 3 and its 45 degrees on the right of my face 30-40cm away and in front of my is monitor and behing it is wooden acoustic panel. what could be wrong?
Two elgato key lights in front of me (to my left and right), one elfato ring light out of frame some at my right shoulder as a fill light and my two lamps behind me
The elgato noise suppressor also cut out off the voice of me when I set it to 1%. However I think it automatically adjusts after you talk for a while and won't do it anymore.
The video is really clear and followed all the steps but when it comes to adding a source for each channel, the only device showing in OBS for me is RODEcaster Duo Main Stereo, none of the other channels. Is there a workaround?
