This is not a sponsored video, I bought this thing with my own money. With that out of the way, let me show you how I have the Rodecaster Duo set up to manage my audio for my pc, console (PS5), and OBS! #rodecaster #twitch #youtube
Very informative and helpful video! I had the Rodecaster Duo for a few months but ended up selling it a couple weeks ago along with my SM7B. It’s truly an awesome pairing, and the end result sounds amazing but I felt it was just a little overkill for my needs. I don’t stream or create content anymore, and so I really just use the mic for Discord and for podcasting now. I went with an Elgato Wave XLR and an Elgato Wave DX for a much more economical setup, but now you have me thinking I maybe made the wrong choice lol.
Great video i really liked it thanks a lot and the idea with the second usb is really smart never thought of that, i have a question what if you did the same thing you did to the line in but with the line out and in ther recording did the listen to this device as in "secondary rodecaster usb" and plugged the other end of the 3.5 to the ps5 controller would it pick the mic? You'd need ground loop isolator ofc but im just curious if this thing works id buy the rodecaster😂😂, anyway thanks really great video
Your windows setting/speakers set to rodecaster main stereo? And when you adjust volume the system tray and ping it, does it register on your Duo fader?
Im struggling, I did all this on the rodecaster pro II and everything works great, except OBS isnt capturing the desktop audio as an input. And the only way it does is when I put it as an output. Which, as you said, means you have to control the audio through OBS and not the rodecaster, which i want to control it through my rodecaster. That way I can hear what the audience hears. Any tips on fixing this. I did everything in the video.
I bought a Road caster Duo and before I had no issues hearing everything I touched or did... Its is like if my Shure mic is way too open and i can hear everything in my headphones and before it ewas not like that. also I had a set up to get no copy right on VOD and now it is giving me copy right issues. any help? Thanks!
Try connecting game audio directly to XLR2 (through TRS 6.3mm jack interconnector) and configure fader #2 for Line-In input, microphone into XLR1 (fader #1 for your mic type), USB1 chat device to application you want to control through Roadcaster (and of course fader for this device too), USB1 Primary Mix for the sounds coming from the PC to the device and you can assign another virtual fader for the sounds loaded into pads (sampler device). Then you connect USB2 Secondary device to the PC configured as Multitrack/Post-Fader and map all channels as input in streaming software (i.e. OBS)
Hello, old video but hopefully I can get an answer because I desperately need one. Is the issue with PS5 audio giving off a buzzing/static sound when plugged in via USB unto the Rode casterduo still an issue? And if it is was there any solution figured out? Hoping you see this message.
Dude, I'm having trouble, can you help me? I have the rodecaster duo and the shure Sm7db but it generates a lot of floor noise "hiss" any solution? I've already changed the XLR cables but nothing, any solution?
Fader is monda high. On mine I've got gain 50, but fader is 3 notches up from the bottom. See if that helps. Also any chance you have phantom power on?
Hello. Can you recommend an audio interface for live broadcast and dubbing? If possible, you can also give microphone advice. My total budget for the audio interface and microphone is $1,000. I don't want to spend more than I need. I'm very undecided and I can't decide whether I should buy a Rodecaster Duo style product or whether the ID14 will do the job as well. I would be happy if you help
I have been tinkering with my Rodecaster Duo for days now and still can't figure out everything, but I'm getting close. While doing some test streams, I was told by my friend who was helping me test the settings that my game volume was too high. I turned it down on the Rodecaster, but it didn't lower it for the viewers, just me. I had to go into OBS and turn it down from there. I thought you could control output volume levels from those faders. It seems to only change the volume for what I hear in my headphones. Any clue as to why this is?
I had this same issue. Make sure that your audio sources in OBS (rodecaster main stereo, secondary) are inputs, not outputs. Meaning you need to add them to obs as Input capture device, nit output capture device. This will allow obs to capture the audio levels based on what you set the levels to in the rodecaster. So if the game audio is too loud you can bring your fader down and it will lower the volume in obs as well.
@@StreamGearTalk You are an absolute life saver!!! That worked! I have always had them as outputs since I had a simple setup that worked. Just recently purchased a whole Rode streaming setup after watching your videos (Rodecaster Duo/Podmic USB) and it's been quite the learning curve. The setup is great now. I did have to use a Cloudlifter though for best results. Anyways, thank you!
There is some buzz sometimes for me but adjusting the in system level usually fixes that. Another solution is a ground loop isolator BESIGN Ground Loop Noise Isolator for Car Audio and Home Stereo System with 3.5mm Audio Cable a.co/d/a620kWQ
You don't. Well, actually there may be a way Illntry out, possible using the Elgato chat link cable with the front 3.5mm port of the rodecaster duo MIGHT work.
Where are you recording this?? What program are you using?? I've been recording through the usb c cable onto both OBS and Audacity and my voice sounds scratchy and robotic. But when I just listen to my voice on the Rodecaster, no recording, my voice sounds fine. None of these channels are telling me HOW to record.
@GNRFrank, thanks for the reply. What do you use to connect the Rodecaster to your PC? I've been recording in both OBS and Audacity and my voice sounds terrible. Scratchy and robotic, cutting off etc. I don't know why it's not working buttery smooth that RU-vidrs are making it sound like.
I'm using the provided usb c cable connected to my USB c port on my motherboard. Is it just your mic audio that's sounds like this or all audio? What mic are you using?
Could I technically use the 2nd USB port to PC and use as means to control Spotify/Browser? For example if I wanted to have music constantly playing, and choose when I want to hear it/mute it via fader?
Yes absolutely. You can connect the 2nd USB port and use it it rodecaster duo secondary (that's what it shows up as on PC) and assign it to Spotify or whatever source you'd like. I used it for ps5 audio. You can also (with some additional stuff) use the second XLR input as an additional channel
@@StreamGearTalk That's great, thanks for answering! Also, mind sharing your advanced settings for SM7B? Still figuring out mine and I'm looking at other people settings to properly set up my own accordingly to my voice
@@StreamGearTalk That's fine, I mostly fine with my current settings. Also, to bother you one last time, I can't seem to be able to set up Main stereo as inputs.Only Main mic/chat is possible as input.Any idea why?
@@FallenKiid I recommend trying it out if you can first. Both are great mics. I love the sm7b sound but the re20 has a special pickup (variable d) that gives you proximity effect without eating the mic. I love that
Helpful but also a hacky way of making something simple that the GoXLR has (optical and line in port) just wish Rode really thought about these things if they were targeting all audiences
I think two issues here, ps5 (not sure about series x/s) doesn't have optical (lame) and I also think they weren't thinking of the streamer market when these devices were conceptualized. They made a hard pivot into it recently with launch of Rode X for example. And yes hacky way lol but where there's a will there's a way known what I mean?
@@StreamGearTalk yeah new gen doesn't have optical but there are adapters for that which i use with the GoXLR and it works perfect. i tried the RCP2 and it was great but because i'm so use to the routing table and virtual audio that the GoXLR brings it's quite hard to move on from such a device, Rode is so close to being there but just slightly falls short. there are ways to get the Unify software to work with the RCP2/RCD but it's limited to one fader which is yet again close but no cigar. hopefully they make a device that is literally a better GoXLR with all these features plus more in future!
@@lNiizz I considered getting a goxlr but they pretty much abandoned it and it will eventually stop working or get bugs that won't be fixed and I just couldn't see spending 500+ dollars on something that is no longer supported. Which is really unfortunate because I've heard nothing but good things otherwise.
Rode did confirm to me that they're currently working on a firmware update to get better unify integration into RCP2/D. So at least we have that to look forward too. There's the 4 faders and 3 virtual channels so definitely cam happen
@@StreamGearTalk i remember them saying this a while back to. hopefully this integration comes sooner than later so the device has another breath of life from a streamers perspective because it is already THE device for recording and podcasting.
Why for god's sake didn't you plug your audio from console (jack-jack cable) directly into TRS input of RC Duo through 3.5mm/6.3mm interconnector and configure fader not for USB2 (another routing from PC) but as Line-In2 of RC Duo? What I mean is: gaming console -> (jack3.5-jack6.3) -> RCDuo(XLRport2) -> RCDuo(USB2) as Secondary Output for PC to record in OBS.
Way too advanced. Should have just been “here’s how to get your audio to work before we start routing PS5 audio into the mix” Some zooms would be really nice, too. Most of us are configuring this on our phones since our computer audio needs troubleshooting, so I can hardly see what you’re trying to show me.
@@StreamGearTalk thanks for asking! I didn’t really notice it until around the 4:35 mark at which point it became too loud and distracting. Had I noticed it at the beginning of the video, I’d have probably moved on immediately (not my cup of tea). FWIW, I typically direct audio through a HomePod (gen1) when watching RU-vid. Re-listened on my phone and found the levels not as loud, but still enough to be distracting (again, imo, and at the same 4:35 mark). Also, unrelated note, I find that a lot of speech comes out with more plosives and sibilance when routing through the HomePod. Must be the EQ profile of the HomePod.
