The pivit brackets don't have any holes. This is mentioned a lot in the amazon reviews. I'm confused how the locking system works so I just don't want to start drilling holes in the pivit bracket. Is there a template that could show precisely where to drill this hole onto the pivit bracket. Also, can you show a video on how the locking bracket works to secure the table top in table mode or in the bench mode.
There’s no ability to add a cross support on the lower shelves like you can on the top table surface. Eight foot long and no support means it will sway from the weight.
I used these at my last house. They worked great and you can get pretty creative with your setups. As far as wobble, I didn't notice much if any. First couple shelves I made were about 4 feet long and 9 feet tall and had 5 shelves. Last one I made was 8 feet long and 9 feet tall with 5 shelves. Doing the 8' long shelves caused some sagging in the middle. I'd recommend staying at 6 feet or less. I anchored all the shelves to the wall studs with at least two large "L" brackets, placed on the middle and top shelf, to keep them from tipping forward. Not that they will, I'm just paranoid and I also knew I'd be climbing them to get stuff off the top instead of grabbing my ladder. lol.
So made my first one last night and followed the same steps the middle shelf is too heavy for the width arms to hold that shelf, had one snap right out.
This looks nice and simple. Going to give it a try. Is there an alternative material I can use for the top? Looking for something with more of a finished look. What are the option instead of plywood? TIA
I just bent a piece of aluminum sheet metal and put it over mine but I suppose you could use mdf and some sort of vinear or some peal and stick vynl flooring to make it look presentable in a living space if that's what your after
*Bought this to use as reloading bench **MyBest.Tools** I put an extra 2x4 in the middle to hold my Lee powder measure, works well for my need and the price and is pretty stable*
Missing from this and the cheaply photocopied instructions in the box are an idea of how many 2x4's. I see a number of 16, but is this for the Shelf links? Isn't that a different product? Confused.
Ordered this on Amazon. I received it today, and the instructions say I should've received #10 x 3" Deck Screws. What I received was #8 x 2" wood screws. Which ones am I supposed to get? Actually, what size is recommended for this?
Building mine right now... workbench complete, taking a break in 90-degree weather and then off to the shelves! I have to say, this has been just as easy as you're showing. I had Lowe's cut almost all my lumber, most for transportation purposes, but this has been great!
We’ve had our set about 1 yr to date, have been very intimated in starting ...your video makes us want to do this today!!!! We will do this however in 1 week due to immediate commitments but we are so doing this thanks soooo much for being badass at making this easy!!!!!
@@jrod6435 I am saddened to report we chickened out…ended up ordering this awful shelving set….we still have the legs and have made it a pledge to really follow through and build it ….really easy…makes you wonder if so easy why not do it….you gotta act when the mood really strikes to make build or do something….#notetoself #takemyownmedicine
I just purchased one..$40 bucks for the big one on Amazon {open box I think}. And using all wood from pallets from work. Long pallets with brsnd new wood. I start3e sanding them today I will only have to purchase plywood although i have some laying around here ad well but want to get a nice sheet for top that or coat it in that clear resin stuff. Just got to do it i guess. Iam looking forward to it. I hope you getti around to making yours.
Was hoping you'd address connecting the top piece. Instructions looks like nails are used but this uses screws (which makes better since 'specially if you wanted to make the horses narrower or wider). And I believe the instructions are trying to say, drive the 3" nails (or screws) parallel with the top piece and not at a 90° with the leg. Must not be that important I suppose.
