Using their synths as a Ouija board, Brigitte Rose and Chris Black brought BOO from the ether to radiate inter-dimensional indie synthpop. Taking cues from ABBA and DEVO they make “highly charged electronica with incredibly addictive melodies” (Louder Than War).
Their art encompasses every aspect of music production, from designing and making their CDs and videos to creating lighting and video art for their dazzling live shows.
In 2022, to celebrate ten years of BOO the band started a monthly livestream on RU-vid, BOO-cast, giving a glimpse behind the BOO curtain as they create their fifth studio album.
“It’s electro pop so good it sends shivers down parts of the spine other bands cannot reach.” - The Devil Has The Best Tuna
Big question! It's already flexible enough for me, but sampling directly into the synth would be incredible.all my other requests would probably involve hardware upgrades, like more modulation ins and outs...
And I love that you liked the comment! Take that high road! I must say, as a pianist/B3/Rhodes/Synth guy... classically trained... I mostly get compliments, or nothing... BUT; singers... man! everyone likes to jump on them & tell them how to do their job. I think you guys are doing great doing your thing! Original music is REALLY hard to book/promote/tour etc... I know: I did it for 15 years. (Now I'm in a Grateful Dead Tribute Band & making better money playing someone else's music. Not as gratifying, but... on an up note, I eat regular & its not Top Ramen 😅😅😅) Keep it up you guys! 👍
@@AMSOLO420 Haha! Thank you sir, you've made our day! It's endlessly funny that the hateful comments always come from "this channel has no content" types. I guess It's a form of creativity. Love to you from BOO! :)
Cool stuff!! I subscribed to you guys a while ago... I've been a pro musician for over 25 years, but I just got into electronic music in Nov of 23. If you've not checked out my channel... id appreciate it if you'd go check out my latest track or short "Tokyo Dream" .... thanks guys! ✌️
0:25 - at least three things: Akai S20 sampler - still going strong. Roland XP-60 - ditto. Yamaha DJX - roflz. But it, too, still going as it should. I absolutely want a MicroKorg though. I need summert dinky.
Thank you! The bass is from the BS2, the parpy trumpety sound is from the Roland Promars, and the rest (not in this short clip) is from the Arturia MicroFreak and the Teisco 110F.

I went on a 1979 synth acquisition kick for a bit (I ended with 4 more added to my Liberation I bought in 1990) and I can say this synth is absolutely a joy to play.
Love the breakdown at 3.15 😎 Are you guys familiar with Japan's, The Plastics? you might like some of their stuff! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Gi5un_z6A9M.htmlsi=dc2ASi9gsZ4squYg
Hi there! Cool overview of the volca keys! Love it. The "llttle lights" in there are the signal for the machine self-tuning its oscillators, constantly. So, the 3 oscillators are most of the time in-sync esp. when the machine is being on for more then 10 minutes or so.
The Opsix should be more than capable of mono bass and lead sounds, though I haven't yet put it to these tasks as there's always a choise of monphonic analogue synths around. The fact that it's a bit more than just an FM synth, and that it's multiple engines can transform it into a virtual analogue, or a virtual modular madness machine lead me to believe that if I only had the Opsix, I would probably be ok. One thing I will say is that programming is not always as immediate as I'd like, and some of the digital oscillators might be described as a bit thin, but if you put the time in, it can yield pretty convincing fatness. Here's a link to some bass examples I found: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-in2mV30UQ8I.html And here are some leads: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BPXsbvVPm1U.html Hope that helps!
Glad Synth of the Month is back ✨ I've not seen such an in-depth exploration of this little Volca's filter, that's not half bad! The envelope re-trigger thing is bugging me though.
Thank you very much! The tapeloop thing is our WEM Copicat, a tape delay thing. Sadly we blew it up a few years ago and haven't gotten round to fixing it. Congrats on the recent films btw. Excellent stuff for mad times. Xx
Im not sure what it is. I never rehearse these videos, neither the script or whatever I play is prepared, but sometimes I do accidentally play something from the real world. It just kind of pops up.bill have a think and if I realise what I was doing I'll get back to you.
ABSOLUTELY ABSORBING AND BRILLIANT TUTORIAL On the Incredible Sounds of the,,Microfreak🎉 My Personal Favourite in my large studio, ive had it for 3 years now, .. Great vid as always, I soundproofed my small garden studio with rockwool, chipboard then plasterboard and then plaster and it’s pretty quiet from outside
