I took lessons from the Sal in high school probably in 1984 maybe 85 for one school year one of my biggest regrets is that I never continued on with him. He was dedicated to the true sound of the instrument and was not a fan of subtones or any variation. It shows in his flawless performances, with solos that demonstrate what true master is.
l've only identified Jennifer Higdon in the last hour. She blows my mind. Anyone who thinks classical music and orchestras have nothing new to say, well think again.
To focus on introducing a new audience--especially children--to "classical" music is of paramount importance. I'm delighted to learn that Mastro Falletta has prioritized this with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra!
Hi Anna, I'm searching for an answer to a question that I've had for a long time. I'm a big fan of the series "NYPD Blue" Can you tell me if the prominent horn in the entrance song is the English Horn?
Brand new Piano Concerto No 2! With various styles such as Romantic, musical theatre, early Modern, Baroque pastiche, fugue, and even a rhumba! Hope to lift your Spring spirits ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0wUWfXRbVV8.html Thanks!
chicken, greasy fingers.... yes he was a sloppy eater but so much fun to be around. A genius, I was lucky enough to perform his oboe concerto with him conducting. Wow.
Wonderful conversation. I grew up in Buffalo and remember seeing two BPO concerts at Kleinhans Music Hall conducted by Lukas Foss and I appreciated that he usually included some "new music" in each program he conducted (something that Michael Tilson Thomas also did in Buffalo and later in San Francisco, close to where I now live). During his tenure in Buffalo, Lukas Foss also hosted occasional local television programs where he would just talk on various artistic topics or interview guests-as a kid from a blue-collar background, I remember thinking that Foss must be an example of what it meant to be a true "intellectual," in part inspiring me to study hard, read a lot, and aim for higher goals beyond my lower-economic environment. In recent years, I've searched for recordings of Foss's compositions. I've wondered why he is not better known. I was glad to stumble upon this RU-vid video and the reference to the 100th anniversary concert at Carnegie Hall in 2022. May JoAnn Falletta's efforts spark wider recognition of Lukas Foss's legacy, talent, genius, and his support of modern composers.
FABULOUS!!!!!!!!! Great performance by members of a great orchestra. Very cool music. Great videography. Audiophile sound. My wife and I attend 2-3 BPO concerts each year with friends preceded by dinner downstairs at Kleinhans (Marcato by Olivers). SUPPORT THE BPO!!!!! :-)
I live in Pleasanton, ca I’m in Los Angeles, and New York filming all the time, but I would love to hear you sing live. I know you promised me a CD when you have it all together, and I told you I would love to buy many of them.
It is just as saddening to me to see an empty concert hall and all the players and conductor who had to "buy in" to this senseless psy-op that was the C-19 "pandemic". We are now beginning to see the truth of what happened then, which in a different way, was just as tragic as the "senseless violence" that this program referred to. Violence comes in many forms.
Nice performance, nice video production, nice collaboration between BPO and Eastman. The Planets is one of my favorites and I enjoyed this arrangement of Jupiter. I see that several are available. I wonder who wrote this one.
Wonderful! Looking forward to seeing the BPO on opening night with violinist Gil Shahan. Buffalo is VERY fortunate to have a great orchestra and concert hall.
