My worst peeve is, when you take games to trade in, and you look into their value beforehand as you should. But then, the owner that usually handles all trade offers you maybe 20% of its worth for trade in, assuming you are too dumb to know what you have. This is the most prevalent practice ive seen personally. A lot of owners are VERY greedy, they won't straight up scam you if you don't know the worth of what you walk in with. And some will sit there and argue when you tell them what it's worth and try to discuss a fair trade, which in a perfect world would be 40-60% of its value. Research your games before you even walk into these places, ive worked them, ive watched owners look up a game and lie to people, telling them a 150 dollar game is worth 20 bucks trade in. It happens so often, that ive stopped even going to these businesses. I just buy and sell locally through Facebook marketplace, it's a lot safer.

One of my big annoyances with game stores is when games don't have the original game covers and the store prints out a cheap cover without labeling them to say that the cover is a repro. I like my local game store, but whenever I look at the Switch games I want to buy for my collection and find that the cover was printed out on some inkjet printer with the first Google Image result of "[video game title] box art" without any clear indication that it's not the original cover, that really irks me. I remember that game store had a copy of ZombiU for the Wii U, and the cover art they used doesn't have the same cover, and the game has an AO rating instead of the M rating it actually has. It has to be the original cover, or I'm not buying.
@CMRetroGaming
@CMRetroGaming 12 часов назад
OMG YES!!!! Some of these reproduction covers look very similar to the originals. I would say it would be OK to have a reprinted cover BUT, they need to disclose that and only charge for the disc only price.

LOL, Some of these employees are crazy. This was like 15 years ago but, I was talking to a GameStop employee about some games that were coming out. The topic of Onimusha and the cut scenes. I said I'd rather play my games than watch them." In a joking manner. He took it personal and said "I didn't know what I was talking about and that I wasn't a real gamer." lol Imagine being so defensive about a game that you talk like that to a customer lol

I’m not a GameStop employee I generally hate them. But why is an employee buying the games themselves bad?
@CMRetroGaming
@CMRetroGaming 15 часов назад
IMO. They are getting paid by GameStop to price games, put things on the shelf and all the other things they are supposed to be doing. By doing personal business on company time they are stealing time from the company. And by lying to people to get them in the store so they can do their personal business is also bad..IMO If I jumped in my police cruiser and two hours into my shift I stopped at a few garage sales so I could do some personal shopping I Would get in trouble and I can actually be charged with "theft in office." I understand that GameStop employees don't have the same responsibility as a public servant, but you see where I'm going.

1. Not marking prices and using ebay to look them up. 2. Putting people down for playing the wrong game or system. 3. Putting the best product behind the counter where you can't see it and have to ask for each item specifically without knowing what's actually there. 4. Talking politics at customers. 5. Insultingly low offers for customers games and consoles (10-15% of ebay price) but then highest prices on their own stuff.

I know it sounds crazy but if you work in an extremely high end restaurant, and i don't mean like a Ruth's Chris or a Hells Kitchen. Im talking about ome of the invite only types. A Ramsay restaurant that Ramsay actually cooks at. Or the billionaires club I used to work at. There will NEVER be prices on the menu. Sounds crazy but oretty much the philosophy is if you have to ask the price you can't afford it and don't beling there. That however is not a game store and I agree with your view on it, but I just wanted to make the counter point.
@raycavazos8927
@raycavazos8927 19 часов назад
I will be honest though it took a while to get used to the clients there. These people were beyond rich. There's a difference between rich and wealthy. The personality. When you deal with the rich they get mad about everything and are usually very rude. Always make a point of trying to let you know who they are and what they got. Always dressed flashy etc. Generally unpleasant people. The wealthy, the billionaires, have this aura about them. Like there's nothing you can do to bother them. They know they have the connections and people to buy and or disappear you if they wanted to. It's like you can't bother them. They always look very understated. Unassuming. Always calm. Jovial. Cordial. And almost always extremely friendly. There are exceptions, but it's almost like that personality is the rule. The wealthy tend to not treat people like they're beneath them even though, well. You know.

@raycavazos8927
@raycavazos8927 14 часов назад
@@CMRetroGaming but like I said I agree one hundred and ten percent with you. A GameStop or a retro game dive are not billionaires clubs. They have no service fees presented by the online outlets due to line of sight cash in hand sale, and have an absolutely final sale regardless of working order stance. Therefore there needs to be a goddamned price on the fucking box. And it better be a minimally invasive easy to remove one too. I didn't pay extra for an original packaging to have sticky marks or destroy it with goo gone.
@raycavazos8927
@raycavazos8927 14 часов назад
And also you are absolutely correct GameStop is notorious for not giving you the packaging on the shelf and not wanting to let you just take the disc and put it in that box. I also don't appreciate not getting a wrapped sealed game. I understand that people probably used to come in and steal them off of the shelves and that's why they stopped, but if that was the case then they need to have sealed copies under the desk.

I never go to Gamestop because they force their employees to act like huckster car salesmen. Ive had multiple employees just lie and tell me something not true about a game, cause they wanted to sound informed and knowledgeable. One of my local stores has two sections. There's the crap game section where worthless games are sold at a fixed price, sometimes with bundle deals, and then there's THE CASE. THE CASE is locked and contains the games people actually want (regardless of rarity). If you ask for a game out of THE CASE then they look up what the current going rate is and charge you that. They told me to come back later and they'd be priced... I go back in a couple months and they do the same thing, look up something they can't find, and refuse to sell. I found out from a local guy that he went in that place a week later and bought a massive stack of Japanese Dreamcast games that they couldn't find on US eBay, so they sold him something like 16 Japan-only games for $40.
