Brian Gottlieb did confirm that the new hero in an upcoming Armory deck isn't Ira. We still don't know who, but we know it's not her. (Source: his interview on TCGTed's podcast)
I see! Well, hopefully its a Ninja^^, Ira doesn't care too much about combos anyway, we just need more good value combo cards. Preferably some 6 for 2s.
And since this video came out, Cash In has been banned. Argh, us Olympia mains are in a bit of a tight spot at the moment. Still, thanks for the video, man.
Its a pity really. I'll need to rethink Olympia as a whole now. Most likely need to focus on the gold just being like a pseudo-Vigor token or something. They did Olympia dirty!
Not from our internal testing, the only "auto losses" we've experienced was a good Riptide. Enigma used to be difficult, but when adjusting our strategy its now ok because of Chorus saving the day and relying less on reprise. But, I have to admit that among the newer players I'm coaching there are a few that wouldn't be able to beat things like Uzuri, Victor, etc.
Kugane, Thank you for your insight into trying to build Zen again. I had some similar ideas back when he was spoiled also trying to use Roar of the Tiger and Head Leads the Tail. I will definitely going to try to go back and work on that version again.
Thank you for the comment Kolat! =] I have also been a huge fan of Head Leads the Tail. I ended up cutting it eventually but I think I am going to bring it back into the deck. I mean, ultimately Heads is still a 6 for 1 even if you play only 3 tigers, or a 4 for 1 if you follow it up with just a single card. I also been considering Tooth and Claw since it awards an extra card if you have 3 tigers, which does happen every now and then. I'm a bit sidetracked with Ira at the moment 😂, currently sitting at 60% winrate with Ira, maybe she is going to be quite good after all!
Dori at an s tier is a crazy prediction, i hope thats right would make a lot of my locals happy! I am happy victor is coming back tho, hes the only character in this gane that should draw cards 😆
Only things I disagree with in this tier list are the placements of Nuu, Uzuri, and Azalea. All of them lose their best matchup against zen and struggle into decks that block well which are coming back into prominence.
@@adderall3676 Thats a fair point. I was considering for Nuu that her Guardian MU in particular is remarkably good and I think we will see more Victor. But you could be right and I’m just over-evaluating their placement. Once I have new data I’ll compile a new list in a couple of weeks, or perhaps after Rosetta is live.
Very thoughtfull. Not on board worth Vynsetts pavement who was an auto lose to Zen, she had a higher % than the one given to her here in August. I know you're not counting Ros heros but Vynn has a couple of cards coming that will add a lot of strength
@@Rihari1 Thank you for the feedback. I have very little data on Vynnset, as of right now I have her hanging around 42% winrate, but I agree once Ros comes out I think the hero will go up to at least A tier. I’ll check it out once the set releases!
I agree with the video, except for Levia and OG Dash's placement. Mansant has recently created a new decktech, dubbed the "Ballbreaker Levia", and it has been doing a lot of work without AOW, and imo is for more terrifying than the usual Levia builds. OG Dash is another thing entirely, sure she's not winning anything major but she is still winning a substantial amount of games, not mind bogglingly high, but enough to slowly inch closer to LL. The fact that she is so versatile in her game play has landed her in top 8 several times in this meta alone, regardless of who she's up against.
@@GCDio Those two I’m not sure about (think I mentioned it in the video as well), I think Aggro Dash in particular could do VERY well. Especially now that boost aggro plans are better then whatever AOW decks were doing, I kind of expect more people to jump onto it. I have no data at all for Ballbreaker Levia, but once people start sending me in their winrates and matchups I’ll reevaluate the deck for a future video! 😊
@@Rockleefan3 Thank you :), Music is a tough one. I had feedback in all directions “Please add some music”, “music too loud”, “music too quiet”, “no music”, so I’m still uncertain whats the best way to go even after 4 years 😂
@@SmithelGaming We tested a bit internally and our winrate for Dawnblade Dori was better than hatchets, because you can pull off stuff like Chorus versus Enigma to just auto-clear the board and snowball into a win.
Not misleading at all. My Enigma match-up is positive. Riptide, slightly unfavored. I play Dawnblade Dori, though, no idea how hatchet versions would fare. Chorus is <3.
Depending on the matchup, the hatchets are much harder to block efficiently and with Dynamos shes crazy value. I think that build is more interesting vs Enigma
Dawnblade dori has a pretty great matchup into enigma mostly due to Chorus of Ironsong letting you clear her board for free on command. Hatchets are definitely worse, but not an auto loss with matchup experience.
@@adderall3676 Most my games with Blade Dori are doing a whole load of nothing but simultaneously Enigma isnt building a board because she has to keep tanking the Dawnblade. And once the Chorus rolls around you build so much momentum that their auras don’t even matter anymore.
I update the deck time to time and tend to do it in the Fabrary link. I can't update videos easily on YT, but at least you have my latest build that way. Into Brute and Warrior I run needles unless I expect fatigue warrior. Guardian I bring Khakara, too many fatigue shenanigans.
Looks like a solid list but why play this over Victor? He can run almost this exact same package minus the aura cards but you would get access to Test of Strength instead.
Hey there Kugane, leaving a note on an older video to not have this front and center, but hopefully get your attention in the comments. I noticed that you blocked me on Twitter - I'm curious what happened, and how we can work together to resolve and move past what had caused this move? I was surprised to see this as we've always been cordial, if not more, and I don't recall intentionally doing anything. Looking forward to hearing from you, if not, then I won't reach out again to hassle. - Andrew
Hello Andrew, First of all, its nothing personal towards anyone when I do decide to block. I need to try to recall what lead to the block, so take whatever I recollect with a grain of salt^^. I have a 'three strikes and I'm done' system when it comes to dealing with anyone on social media. The reasons that lead to the block are multifaceted: 1. You called my data disingenuous. I am open to such a statement, so I requested which part is disingenuous and why, which you didn't answer. 2. I tried to expand on why I didn't feel my opinion is completely biased and tried to compare Zen to other Combo decks like Zen or Kano, on which instead of answering my original question, you started strawmanning with a "Seriously, Boltyn?", which just isn't something that I would expect from you of all people, since you always seemed very objective in pretty much every matter you deal with, so instead of blocking at that point, I just answered something like "Don't start strawmanning on me now". 3. You didn't reply to that comment, so I assumed you were angry or just didn't want to bother explaining your position, which is fine, I just left it as is. 4. In a completely different post, I can't recall which, you suddenly did respond to shoot with some snarky response, I can't for the life of me remember what it is was. It was that moment that I shown the thread and previous discussion one to my wife and we decided that clearly our relationship as fellow content creators had soured and instead of trying to feed into your anger, evaluated "how many strikes are these?" and figured it did reach the 3-times rule I had to enforce for myself (I have a tendency of wanting to prove myself when people say I'm wrong). I decided it would probably be best for both of us to step back and block. I fully understand opinions can differ wildly and I did see your post on RU-vid and understand your point of view about the best players will play the best deck, which I mostly agree with. I just believe its far more nuanced in a game like Flesh and Blood. I know I'm a difficult person for people to deal with, autism makes things awkward for all parties but I do care a great lot about respecting each other's opinions and if we do challenge people's ideas to at the very least back it up with facts. All that said, I'll unblock you on Twitter and I'm sorry if it has caused any distress. I just need to stick with my three strikes system, otherwise my mental health derails far too quickly. Cheers, Dennis
@@cghirst76 Katsu really got hit badly indeed 😞. But its fine for Zen, 3 red bonds are very workable. Ultimately it doesn’t matter too much which piece is put into the GY anyway.
I do like the deck, I am just a little bit sad we didnt get a second Deckcard in there. On the other hand we have a couple DtD cards that may be viable at some point
@@Karkman87 I also wish we had some new tools in the main deck. Feels a tad same old-y. But oh well! Boltyn is still viable anyway, I don’t think he needs a lot to start competing.
Hey brother. I saw this list yesterday on Fabrary and was gonna reach out hoping there was a guide on how to play it as it seemed fun. Glad you have one out there and can't wait to try it more.
Love the list! I put together a Yoji deck similar to this, bit I added Big Bop and Bigger than big because they target Anothos or Titans fist. So you block 2 cards setup 2 cards send 9 or 11 if you are using anothos and you can choose to wager if you want. Yoji is fun!
I'm a big fan of axe olympia but I don't find myself running agility that much. I feel it's so costly to either swing axe twice or have an agility and get a second attack off (swinging axe twice when I was playing axe dori at least). I've been having better luck with front pump one big axe swing kind of decks.
People seem to be a little down on nuu but I think with some play she can be a good tried and true strategy. Enigma doesn't interest me and my buddy already built zen so I'm gonna play this a bit and see how it goes. I find it a fun deck to play regardless of matchup, every hero has its bad matchups
on the kano/enigma matchup: the way kano wins is by presenting enough damage to where enigma can't reasonably both keep her ward aura's alive and present damage, so kano has enough time to set up a big combo turn to punch through her ab and ward
I see, but doesn’t Kano need like 3 turns to set up where he hardly deals damage? I would assume Enigma is at 20+ Ward at that point. Or is their game plan to continuously apply pressure?
I feel like illusionist is always difficult to balance... Prism at launch was okay, it had wins and loses...they've patched it with the new weapon. Then enigma... enigma just clicks and is already s-tier... SIGH
At least Riptide can keep Enigma in check thanks to the trap pings =), so we may get a meta triangle with some decks gaining popularity and then others dying off a while.
If Enigma and Prism really become more viable, this will also allow Vynnset to rise up in the tier list. Vynnset is just a horrendously tough matchup for Enigma, because of how easy it is to negate damage prevention. You pop every single aura Enigma has set up, every turn, for basically free.
You basically need a deck that can operate off a 2 card hand. That can simultaneously keep Illusionist in check and is capable of disrupting aggro enough that their value plan doesn’t work.
@kugane just one curious question to the first combo: Why does the second Crouching Tiger deal 1 dmg? Khakkara does only trigger the *next* crouching tiger.
I have a video live, replied the direct link to somebody in the comments. If you need last minute help finetuning the list for your local meta, I have a help section available on Patreon, but the OG list should be okay for armory level events^^
And the new generic gloves :P, seriously, though, for the most part I think it’ll be fine. The combo is easy to stop so anything with a fridge can save it for turns like this or the late game
Honestly, I have stopped using Shifting Winds in my testing builds. 9 out 10 times, the card either bricks your combo massively, or just ends up being pitched.
Yeah, from the limited data that I have for shifting winds in 90 games, it got played 12 times, the rest it blocked or pitched. I think I'm just going to push Ancestral Harmony in instead, at least on a combo turn its still at least 2 value with the chance of it becoming 6+ value. Getting rid shifting would open up space for the Bonds of Ancestry combo as well, though, so I guess thats another option.
Thank you so much! Trying my best!^^ The recent influx of patrons helps a lot to put extra resources into these other than just a web browser recording.
@@Yiazmathai Its a decent deck, not a top tier one, but if you are new I think a deck like this can last you a long time before it hits Living Legend. Plus a lot of the staples you need for Zen can be used in Katsu as well.
