Good concept, beautiful bike and nice engine. But much too heavy and expensive. You have to buy the luggage as an option. Fixed windscreen. No electronic suspension. You can buy 3 Chinese bikes (which are much lighter) for this price. Or a Triumph Tiger and you are left with money to spare, if you want an European 3 cilinders bike. If they made it 20% lighter and cheaper (even if it sacrificed 20hp) it would be competitive.
If traveling around Africa -- can you avoid the sand dunes and only travel on hard packed or -- not dunes -- on bikes? If traveling alone, I really would not be happy on a GS pushing my way out of dunes. Thoughts?
Hey, if you wanted to go from top of Africa -- say Morocco and ride down to South Africa... First, do you think its safe? Second, can you avoid sand and too much off-road and trouble with an average off-road rider?
I got my 450MT in late June and love it. It is my 1st adventure bike so I am getting the hang of riding off road and have the bike move around under me.
The ergonomics and off-road abilities od the CFMoto are pretty straight forward. Considering that you can buy it for half the money that you pay for the Tenere, you can use the rest to go off-roading.
If only they didn’t have those cheaply made camshafts ticking .. ticking away ..underneath you .. just like the KTM’s . they could have been great motorbikes , at great prices.
Still waiting for a good rally style 450. The Kove is close but not much low torque. Hoping one of the Japanese companies comes out with a proper 450 dual sport in the coming years.
I think it's over-hype. The CFMOTO looks like an underpowered KLR> It's weak soup. Maybe in five years when it's got an aftermarket and trustworthy reliability data. Last I looked, it wasn't even released in US yet, just the demo bikes.
"If you have the skill, you can push it very hard"... that's the case with any big bike. Birch or Tarres will run rings around you on a 200kg plus bike like it's nothing. For us all other mortals, this is still a heavy (195 kg) bike to do real off-road riding on, let alone pick it up after going down. And if you're not doing hard off-road, then there are better bikes. It's saving grace is that it's cheap and affordable to the masses.
If you have enough skill , you can ride a Goldwing on rough trails . Odd how things change …back in the day in my youth 😢, heavy trail bikes were not popular with anyone ,wanting to be serious on the trails .😊 We had the nous as kids to realise a heavy bike was harder to ride fast . We could blow away the DT 175 s and Honda XL 250s with our featherweight YZ 80s😅, now the industry is selling even heavier motorcycles for supposed wild trail riding . Here is my opinion for what it’s worth , if you are a shorter rider ( under 5 ft 8) and under 30 inch inseam …don’t even think of riding a Transalp ,or a KTM , Husqvarna. Africa Twin fast off road unless you are above average in riding ability . Once you lose momentum and you can’t get a foot down as you are stalling , tippy tip over happens , and if it’s a heavy bike …over 170kg wet , you will struggle in the mud and sand to pick up your large adventure bike if riding alone . The Honda CRF 300 rally is the closest to a unicorn bikes, it needs to be lowered by approx 50mm and it’s perfect . Even on stock soft suspension , you could blow away anyone on a Moto 450 , or a Transalp on semi serious off road trails . And the Honda CRF 300 rally despite what people say , can cruise on back roads at 100 km per hour and on the motorway in medium stretches . You can pick up the 152kg wet CRF rally up off the ground on your own some , mind you it’s not a feather. We all see these next best thing new models such as the 450 Moto in a few months lining the used bike sections. Because those shorter older and not muscle bound riders no matter how experienced they are …sooner or later drop their bike and the cold reality of not been able to get the bike off the horizontal hits home ….this bike is 195kg approx wet , if you add a luggage rack panniers and crash bars , a phone mount ect it could weigh 210kg plus .🤔
I also own this bike and love everything about it ,for the money you can't go wrong. I run a 150/70r18 Pirelli Scorpion Rally on the rear . Im still using the OEM front arm
I have one and I love the bike, but I think it could have a little more power and for a 450 it drinks a lot 😅 I’ve fitted a 15 tooth front sprocket and it’s much more usable now
Is the 15 tooth countersprocket mean you need to feather the clutch a lot at slow speeds or at launch or does the bike have enough torque to not really notice? Were you getting vibrations at 120km/hr? I have one on order for spring and i switched out my NX500 front sprocket here in a different country where i ride now but i only really ride on road with teh NX the CF450 will be for gravel roads in Canada
How many men, will spunk over £20K and never travel more than a few kilometres on a Sunday on one of these machines?? Talk about dreamers, because that’s all they are, dreamers and posers!! 😂😂😂
I like the look and proportions of this bike except the front end .. I mean the headlight part. May be it’s only me and it may take time to grow over. Otherwise a good looking bike.
You guys make it look like a disadvantage there’s suspension with old fashioned clickers, it’s a robust and brilliant working system for years. Personally I would not buy a bike with the electronic stuff, I trust the mechanical version way more. In my opionion it would be better to setup suspension properly before testing a bike, it differs for every rider so you’re testing defaults that are probably not applicable to you. Doesn’t give s realistic view of the bike. By the way, dealers should setup suspension as well when they deliver a new bike. In most cases they don’t, makes your new bike a lot less brilliant (and safe).
Never heard this term used and imho,it makes zero sense to me to call it that..we always called it a "bootlegger turn",but I know that wouldn't translate very well outside of a small geographic area. 😅
I just sold my HPE for a new XMax - the shape of the new Honda 350 scooters didn't appeal to me and 1hp isn't going to make a difference in city driving. I liked the XMax's new shape and colour schemes, its reputation for reliability and its ability to do motorway speeds with ease. I love Vespas (I've owned four) but the HPE was unreliable and the build quailty was poor. It's barely painted inside and since the tub is not galvanised, rust will set in pretty quickly (unless you Waxoil it every year). That part being solved the HPE engine consumes quite a bit of oil - although mine wasn't too bad (100 mls per 800 kms) some were much worse. Then there was the need to crank the engine 3 - 5 times when the engine was slightly warm or after a short ride. Then the fuel pump went on the blink... then the petrol guage sensor. AND, if you have a pillion pasenger your legs constantly hit the footpegs because their position was designed to favour looks not practicality... not to mention the fact that if your passenger is short, her legs won't reach the footpegs. So, bring on the XMax.
I'm a BMW fan. I've owned their cars and bikes. I think the new Adventure is really ugly. But I thought the same of the m440i, and now I own one, and I love the grill. Perhaps the 1300 adventure will grow on me....but unlikely. It's really awkward looking.
I like them both but prefer the look of the Vespa. I also have another bike. So for me it would be the Vespa. But if I didn't already have another bike and car for longer journeys then it would be the Yamaha.
I have aprilia sr gt 125cc scooter. Its a nice scooter but a bit to small and a bit underpower for my needs. This sims bigger, higher top speed and looks better option for me. The question I have is, how is accelaration? Is it noteble faster then 125cc 15hp maxiscooter?
As one of the biggest Guzzi fans that there is and I will be biased, the Guzzi is a better looking bike and most definitely a head turner and I would sell my brother just to take a Mandello for a ride before I die! Once the Guzzi bug bites your arse you are infected and there is no turning back 🤷🏻
